“Let's get straight to business... how was the food? 10/10. I got the Golden Burrito with steak. It was amazing! I let the staff know it was our first time trying it and they went into detail of how to enjoy it best with the different sauces they have available. It's also in a good safe part of town and provides clean indoor seating. Definitely coming here more often to try different items on the menu.“
“My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! Impeccable dishes with rich flavor and high quality ingredients, amazing cocktails, fantastic service, and a lovely interior with a couple of outdoor tables for sunny days. My favorites are the green enchiladas, chicken mole, and plantains - but everything we’ve had here has been incredible. I’m always shocked by how uncrowded this place is - people are seriously missing out!“
“I ordered a quesabirria taco and a burrito from here recently. The quesabirria was $5 for one that came with cucumber slices, one roasted jalapeno and one small cup of birria. It was amazing!! Really hit the spot in terms of flavor. The burrito on the other hand was good not great. It had a way too thick of a flour wrap around the burrito. I felt like I was eating a 30% flour wrap and only 70% filling. Otherwise, it was a good flavored burrito. I'll be back if I'm ever in the neighborhood for the quesabirria.“
“Best Mexican food near Berkeley! I went there with two of my girlfriends, and we sat at the patio, which had a pretty good vibe. The lady was super nice, and the food was VERY GOOD! All of us loved the food so much! The cocktail as pretty good as well.“
“I came here with a few of my friends. I split a dish of whole fried fish and carne asada tacos with my friend. The fried fish was done well but it had not much flavor. It wasn't seasoned and no salsa sauce to go with it. But I have to say the carne asada tacos were one of the tastiest that I've ever had. This is a Mexican restaurant on Solano ave so the prices commensurate with the location. It has indoor and outdoor dining, very pleasant.“
“As a Berkeley student I sometimes get takeout at a few local Mexican places but of them all, El Talp has by far the best California Burrito without contest. I usually order takeout so I can't speak to the service or the interior much. Even though I've been here so many times, I've never taken a photo because eating this has been a simple part of my routine. The flavors of everything are very bold but come at you in productive ways. Nothing feels too overwhelming and at the end you are left very satiated. I urge you to try something here if you are on Northside for any reason. You might just have a new local favorite Mexican place.“
“Just tried this place for the first time and WOW! I had their Huevos A La Mexicana breakfast burrito and it’s one of the best I’ve had in town. It was a messy to eat but that’s how you know it’s the real deal! Seating is outside and wasn’t too crowded for a Sunday. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely be going back to try the rest of their menu!“
“Wow! The smell of the food driving bye is what brought me in. Was warmly greeted by a host offering chips and salsa as soon as I came I'm and sat down. The price of their food is cheaper than other places in the area. When I got my food, I couldn't believe the size of this huge burrito. It can easily feed two and will not disappoint with how delicious all their ingredients are that go's into one of the best burritos I've had in a while.I will definitely be returning to this place to make my way through the rest of their menu.Thanx! #GOODEATSParking: Nice residential area with little trafficKid-friendliness: The dining area is separate from the bar area. Very nice place with lots of charisma“
“Very pleasant experience eating here. Saturday evening was busy so reasonable wait, but server was very friendly so no issues there. The set up is pretty nice and lively vibe inside. Food was very well seasoned and even the kids were not picky at all. They actually ate everything so they really enjoyed it too.“
“Solid place to get Mexican food at. It's consistently good and satisfying at a good price. I love coming here. The food is comforting and the staff are friendly. The outdoor seating area is very fresh and airy, cozy- great given that it's in Berkeley near the freeway to it's surroundings are very different.“
“We were on a Breakfast Burrito binge. We were trying as many top-rated breakfast burritos as possible. We came across this place while waiting for another place. This place was better than the rest!!! Absolutely great!!! Go here as good, if not better, than all the other top-rated burrito places. They got our order wrong, but it's still AMAZING!!! I asked for toasted and Acado instead of guacamole. But they did not toast and put guacamole.“
“I’ve eaten here for lunch 1-2 times a week for the past two years - Comal Nextdoor is worth every penny. While it’s slightly more expensive than most food in downtown Berkeley, the key word is “slightly.” The portions are massive — I could happily split a burrito with someone else. The service is also really fast. Today, I got my burrito in maybe 2 minutes, I’d say the average is 4-7 minutes. Can’t recommend the chicken burrito highly enough, either.“
“I moved down the block just over 2 years ago, and I was so sad this place was closed because I always heard wonderful things about it. When they finally reopened this September, 2023, I was so excited to go! I was not disappointed and I’m happy to say and I can’t wait to come back!Everything was delicious, extremely fresh, and really high quality. The chicken enchiladas were perfectly seasoned and a great portion size. The refried black beans that come with the dish were so good! The pescado taco was also wonderful, a huge taco and the fish was perfectly cooked. Hands-down though, the best thing we had was the ceviche tostada and the esquite! The ceviche had sooo much flavor. I can’t stop thinking about it! Also a ton of fish and avocado for the portion. Yum! The esquite was also a highlight. Just so many wonderful flavors and everything complimented each other so well. Blown away, definitely a new favorite spot in Berkeley and so glad you’re back! Service was wonderful too, and the food comes out really quickly. So glad you’re back, I’ll be back soon.Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of space“
“Great tasting tacos! Very accommodating if you don't like a specific topping, they'll take it off. I'm from San Diego originally and this has got to be one of the closest tasting tacos to that of San Diego's delicacy. It's hard to find a good taco in the Bay, but this is it.“
“Wow!!! This taco truck has excellent tacos at a great price! The service was friendly and quick, which is always a plus. I came on a hot day and tried their cucumber and lime agua fresca and it was fantastic! Super refreshing! The tacos were not underserved and the salsas were on point. I've tried a lot of taco trucks that look good but end up serving overly greasy foods and ok drinks but Tacos Pihuamo did not disappoint. What more can you ask for?? I highly recommend this spot!!“
“We really enjoyed the new location on College Ave near Ashby! The service was great and the food was even better than I remembered! Parking was available on the street but we also found out from the staff that there is public parking behind the buildings.“
“Wow! That should encapsulate everything I'm about to say. To start things off to a strong warm welcoming for me, duck as a protein is a sign that this place was meant to be. The duck tacos with guacamole and pomegranate seeds were a nice end to my day. I confess I'm now using pomegranate when I roast a duck! At Fonda, the meat is tender, juicy, and so flavorful. An unexpected treat! The fried plantains are delightful and they're paired with black beans, cream, and salsa molcajete. If you're not a fan of overtly spicy things, like me, get the salsa on the side as I will in the future but regardless, all things were tasty! The drinks are well made and thoughtful. It didn't feel like I was just ordering from a generic drink menu. The Fonda drink was delightful. Overall I suggest this place for lovers of Latin food. On my try list: mushroom empanadas, tuna tartare, and fish tacos. I believe I shall pair it with an Idle Hands cocktail! Great job to the chefs and staff at Fonda!“
“Excellent neighborhood Mexican food.. carne asada plate with black beans was great, good guacamole and tasty salsa..carnitas tasty too ..chili rellenos excellent …good veggies burrito nice and big..corn tortillas ok.. very friendly staff.. did not eat in but looks like it’s a popular place .. I would go again..“
“Have been ordering burritos and soups to go for over a year now. Everything always comes with chips and really yummy salsas/sauces you can choose at pickup. Service is always friendly, operational hours long and food amazing! I really appreciate all the burrito choices as well as super easy to navigate website you can order from.Vegetarian options: a lot of vegetarian options on the menuDietary restrictions: can sub flour for spinach tortillasParking: plenty of parking (street and by Target)Kid-friendliness: huge kid menuWheelchair accessibility: there's a ramp“
“i’ve been here three times now and i can definitely say, this place makes great burritos! i love the carne asada special burrito but tbh the chips could be better. the horchata is really good, the workers are friendly, and the prices aren’t as bad as they could be. super convenient location, great vibe inside, and a fair amount of indoor seating. i came here for my 19th birthday dinner and really enjoyed it.“
“When I was waiting to be a dad me and my wife When there love it the Foods at this place then covid came and we could not come any more now today was fantastic no only my wife and I came but our little munching to she loves the place we are coming back for more Good authentic food“
“The Taco game is heating up in the East Bay, with over 50 taco trucks in various locations that were not there 10 years ago. It's like the world is finally waking up to how great tacos are and taco trucks are spreading like a virus, but a virus we love, and want to get all the time. The Bay's tacos, a small independent chain with four or five trucks in the East Bay, are making a strong showing.I ordered some suadero tacos that didn't have that "Comal", taste that I like, (infused with Longaniza and Manteca flavors) but it did have chunks that were "doradito", (crispy and golden) which I thought was a nice twist on the classic. The tortillas were really fresh, and the horchata, was sweet. One thing I did notice though, was that the salsa here is a little better than the salsa at a lot of the other trucks. Some of the trucks in the East Bay, serve great tacos, but they don't really have a tight salsa game. The Bay's taco truck, has top shelf salsa.Another win for taco lovers in the Berkeley Oakland area!Vegetarian options: Vegetarians might find one or two dishes here, but this is the land of meat, buddy. Get it straight.Parking: More about parking“
“Highly recommend this place! I've been wanting to go here for awhile. Finally came here after work. Had the chipotle chicken sandwich with chips and some pan dulce on the side. Can't forget the horchata which was excellent! My first time here but definitely not my last! Might bring some friends and family here another time. Everything was fresh. The atmosphere was great and was playing lots of bachata and salsa music. Definitely love the vibe here. Hope to come again real soon!“
“Cool spot located in Berkeley- near the university. Came here after show from Berkeley Playhouse- famished. Share some tacos, and burrito. We were standing there trying to figure out what is the difference between a reg/ and super size burrito.. found out soon enough to be at 3lb burrito! Originated from East Oakland, as food truck to now brick and mortar. Spot is good, i like the tacos. I would like to try other items. You can order via cashier or one of the stations to order. Ambiance is chill as we came in late, and it wasn't super crowded“
“Great Mexican brunch place. I've been here several times, and have had the chilaquiles, blueberry pancakes, chorizo scrambled eggs, breakfast tacos, and breakfast burrito. All were exceptional. Friendly service, low key atmosphere. I will be back again -- and again.Vegetarian options: Veggie hash; pancakes; waffles“
