“This is a classic place that I hadn’t been to since I was in college. It hasn’t changed a bit. The decor is really cool and the food is very good. Prices are a little bit high, considering what you get. Service was good, but not great. I was surprised at how long it took for the food to get there. The servers and staff were very nice. The place is a bit off the beaten path, but if you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out.“

“Found this place years ago and it quickly became a favorite. When I first discovered it, it was hands down the best food at an amazing price. Now you kinda get what you pay for prices have climbed quite a bit but the food is really good.

Check out the mole plate, if you like mole it's the best around.“

“Small little Mexican spot right next to UC Berkeley. Orders made fresh, and quickly! Generous portions and reasonable price. The burritos are quite large, so be hungry if you get one lol!

Popular place apparently, with only a few, two person tables, so seating may be scarce. Just a heads up if you plan to dine in.

“Have lived in the area forever and have always LOVED la familia. Especially shrimp tacos. Recently changed ownership, although we miss the family who once owned la familia the new owners are sooo kind as well. All the food is still amazing and there are new thai menu items and from what I’ve tried (rice and dessert) the thai food is good too!“

the salsa verde has a nice kick without being too spicy, definitely grabbing it again next time becuase its that good.

“We have felt lucky to live within walking distance of Casa Latina. Tonight I put in a phone order, as I have many times and the order was taken carelessly and messed up (Baja fish taco, not fish taco), so when I got home, I had to drive back up and have the meal remade, and then it was just not good. Tortillas were weirdly dry and the fish was overcooked (like, fried to the color of coffee grounds). A great neighborhood place on Fridays, will probably skip it on Mondays.“

“I was pretty annoyed when my credit card machine kept glitching and they didn't have cash to make change, but the al pastor tacos more than made up for it. I keep coming back becuase they load up the tortillas with tons of meat and the salsa verde actually has a kick to it. I just wish they would fix thier parking situation because its a total mess trying to grab a spot. That said, its still my go-to spot when im craving something quick and authentic.“

“A decent neighborhood place. At Ashby and Sacramento street intersections. Decent quality but the meat could be better as it tasted pre cooked. The people are really nice and try to please. Being able to eat in is a plus. I will return. Breakfast burritos are big and filling. Comparable to anything in Berkeley . The prices are fair. The red salsa is very good. Very very nice people.“

“I'll tell you...the Tacos El Rey Food Truck is a great stop for lunch! I had to wait a while to pick up my custom made Harpoon heads from the Iron Works place so I walked over to the El Rey taco truck, and got a couple of chicken tacos grande, and they were amazing! The flavors and textures were deliciously authentic! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆“

“California burrito is alright, saw online a lot of people were saying this was the spot for a true so-cal California burrito so I had high expectations.

The burrito itself gets the basic ingredients right, no rice or beans, but it’s crazy dry and lacks any flavor by itself. The French fries in mine were soggy and seemed like they were baked not fried. It’s long but not very thick so you probably will be able to finish it. By itself it’s just okay.

They had some salsa next to the soda machine and that was actually pretty good. The guac salsa was way spicier than I expected and had a really nice flavor profile. With the salsas the burrito was way better and bumped it up from 3 stars to 4 stars for me personally.

Overall it was good and I would stop by again sure, but not quite at so-cal level for a California burrito.“

“The burritos here are some of the most flavorful and rich ones I’ve ever had. The carnitas are crispy and delicious. The shrimp burrito has just as much flavor but is a little lighter.One of the delicious things about this burrito is the inclusion of sour cream in the regular— the difference between regular and super burrito is just the size, not ingredients, so you can get all of the amazing flavor in a smaller size!The pricing is a little inconsistent— it would be good if they updated their menu so that it reflected their charges. There’s a dollar different here and there.“

“I got the (veggie) burrito and agua fresca (horchata) combo for ~$17. It was pretty good! I was ravenous and it was successfully satiating. I really appreciated the little bundle of pickled carrots, radishes, and lemon wedge they covered in tin foil to go along with the burrito. They get bonus pts for that! The horchata was a bit sweet for my taste but still enjoyable.
The inside of the store is small and the music is loud, making it a bad spot to sit and talk with a friend so I recommend walking to berkeley campus to sit on grass or a bench with your food. There’re reusable plastic cups for water but it tasted like there was still some soap on the cup.“

“My brother and I visited Gordo Taqueria in Berkeley last night and really enjoyed our experience. I had the chicken taco, and it was fresh and delicious. We also liked the welcoming atmosphere, the simple restaurant concept, and the friendly customer service. We will definitely visit again!“
