“Reminds me of my grandma's food, so comforting and delicious every time. Cooks are from Guanajuato and this place is authentic. The birria caldo is delicious, carne asada plate is bomb with handmade tortillas, the mole enchiladas will blow your mind, and chile relleno was fire! 10 out 10 every time!“

“This is a family run place with outdoor seating. The food is quick, fresh and tasty. Women members of the family are nicer than the men, who can be clueless and unhelpful. Sometimes the meat is recooked in the crispy tacos which are otherwise my favorite. The flautas are also fresh and good as are the refried pinto beans.I like this casual place a lot—you can buy Russian River Brew next door at Raymnond’s excellent pizza place and sit in the sun with the locals.“

“This Place has by far the BEST TORTAS you can get these day's at a restaurant! It's Always"s clean...The lady at the register is very nice! They Greet you when u come in! They don't try and charge $2 for sour cream and all those hidden fee's! One day they will find a better location! Food is Fresh! Perfect!!!!“
“There is a second part to this review, which is 1 ⭐️ . I will get to that in a moment .
Let me start off by saying I am a burrito guy. I realize this place opened in my neighborhood and decided to give it a try after reading the reviews. They’ve got a couple of reviews talking about how the food wasn’t that good etc. I live off of burritos and that is far from the truth.
The burrito itself was very tasteful. The seasoning was perfect. The rice is good. The shell was cooked exactly how most people would like it.
Let me get to the one star part of My review now.
First at the counter, the guy worked in the counter, gave him my order. It was hard for them to understand kept repeating, and I gave them specific directions slowly on how I wanted my burrito made. When you tell somebody no beans and then two minutes later they come back and say you don’t want no beans no I don’t. When you tell somebody I want cheese and then they come back while they’re sitting there typing something in and say do you want cheese. With that said that’s minimal here’s the bad part. My wife cannot eat dairy I told the first person three enchiladas and no dairy, no cheese and no sour cream. I said all three of those things however I should’ve only been able just to say no dairy and they should understand that, but I specifically said no cheese and sour cream.. Specifically said my wife cannot have dairy. After talking to the lady in the back going back And fourth. The lady comes out and continues my order. She’s really a hard worker and tries too hard but I think it’s a slight language barrier. She repeated to me no sour cream and no cheese and I said correct as I’m leaving getting my order she opens it to show me, how the enchiladas were and I said oh is that sour cream she said yes I said no sour cream. My wife cannot eat dairy no cheese and she goes oh no cheese?. So she takes the tray back rather than make a new one she scraped the sour cream out of the tray and was not aware of that at the time when I got home, I had to wipe it out with paper towels. I think they personally should’ve grabbed another tray possibly remade the order if it was the neighborhood of dairy. That’s just my opinion, but the food was great. Have a good day.
I went well before lunch place was not busy only one other customer there so no reason to get mixed up here. So I don’t want to dock them for the food and trying just making people aware who can’t have dairy. Be careful.“

“TLDR: Unforgettable quality and taste at a higher than average price. Top-tier quesabirria and consume, soft tortillas (possibly homemade?)
This restaurant is probably single-handedly keeping its plaza alive. I've been regularly eating here for at least four years and it easily has the most delicious Mexican food in the whole East Bay, maybe even whole Bay Area. When my friends come to visit, I always take them here to eat and they all agree with my sentiment. One of them still thinks about the quesabirrias to this day.
quesabirrias - the tacos and consume are match made in heaven
birria ramen - the tapatio container is aesthetic and easy for take-out. I can assure you it's not just simply instant ramen. Generous portion of beef
burrito - you cannot finish this in one sitting unless you have the appetite of a professional athlete“

“So happy to find a delicious and friendly restaurant that doesn’t close in the afternoon in my neighborhood. We have been there several times in the past couple months and I’m still trying new things on the menu. My husband tried the ribs which he said were the best he’s ever had and half the serving went home with him. It was huge! Desserts are exceptional especially the flan. I’m still exploring their vegetarian options but so far my favorite is their version of chili relleno. Come and relax and enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere!“
“muy ricos tacos y económicos 😅 excelente corazón de tacos!!“

“The quesabirrias are quite good!🌮🧀They’re sold individually too, for $5+ each, and come with a decent consomme😋 Better than most taco trucks around here, and a better price than the now way overpriced truck by the Richmond market, which used to have the best birrias and consommé around..but it isn’t even good anymore. Super nice staff too😊“
“Tried this local Salvadoran spot in Richmond and really enjoyed it. I ordered two beef tacos and an authentic Salvadoran-style horchata, and everything was on point. The tacos were flavorful, well-seasoned, and made fresh, and the horchata tasted homemade—not overly sweet and very refreshing. You can tell this is a family-run place that cares about the quality of their food. Always happy to support local businesses like this. I’ll definitely be coming back.“
“Everything here is absolutely delicious! highly recommend!“

“DAMN GOOD MEXICAN FOOD! I don't care what anyone says in the reviews, anyone giving this place less than a 4.5 does not know what they are talking about. This place is literally one of the only good places to eat authentic Mexican food. Their regular burritos are 10.95 and they are literally the size of other restaurants that charge you 13$ for "super" burrito and them shi be nasty. Bomb ahh asada fries, the guacamole is so good, it has a perfect mix of lime, pepper, salt and avocado. The tacos taste the same as the ones do in mexico, you want authentic? This place has tacos that are literally the same thing that they sell in Mexico, literally where tacos come from! (Specifically the ones from guadalajara, those are the ones it reminds me of). Burritos are fantastic. The asada is the best from every other taco place. If you want to find a better place you have to drive at least 30 more minutes south/southwest. This is an honest review by a real Mexican, not a gringo that only knows shell tacos and chimichangas.“

“🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Hidden Gem in Richmond – Carnitas Done the Right Way
If you know carnitas, you know there’s a difference between good and Puebla-style done properly — and Carnitas Poblanas El Canelo absolutely delivers.
This place started as a humble food truck and has earned its reputation the right way: through flavor, authenticity, and consistency. No gimmicks. Just real-deal Mexican cooking.
🔥 What I Ordered
2 x Large carnitas tacos on handmade blue corn tortillas, piled high with creamy avocado, shredded cabbage, and finished with fresh lime and radish. The meat? Perfectly slow-cooked — tender inside with those crispy caramelized edges that make Puebla-style carnitas legendary.
On the side, their salsas:
The green salsa brings serious heat (in the best way).
The red salsa is deep, smoky, and rich.
And the strawberry horchata? Next level. Creamy, refreshing, slightly sweet, and served ice-cold — the perfect contrast to the savory carnitas.
🌮 Why This Spot Stands Out
Authentic Puebla-style carnitas — slow-cooked and crisped properly
Handmade tortillas (you can taste the difference immediately)
Fresh ingredients throughout
Quesadilla de chicharrón prensado that locals rave about
Fast, friendly, family-run hospitality
Casual setup — the focus is 100% on the food
It’s not fancy. It’s not polished. It’s not trying to be trendy. It’s authentic, flavorful, and consistent — which is exactly what makes it special.
Some of the best carnitas in the Bay Area? Absolutely.
If you’re in Richmond and you appreciate traditional Mexican cooking done with pride, this spot deserves your attention.
Highly recommended. I’ll be back. 🌮🔥“

“The tamales here are scrumptious! My absolute favorite is their corn one but all are good.
The portions are huge and usually one is more than enough to satisfy me.
No discounts for ordering a dozen or more. Priced per item“
“Working out of the parking lot behind La Loma market on McBryde and San Pablo and Bringing that real Sinaloan, and Jarocho flavor, Carlos's tamales, that come in potato and sausage, cheese, Chorizo, sausage and beef, are homemade delights, so hard to find in this world of fast food. Carlos is an expert chef, who sells out his excellent salsa first thing every day. So try to get there before 1:00 p.m., and get some while it's still there. These are the most delicious tamales in the East Bay area, made by a real craftsman who knows true Mexican tamale flavor.“

“The food is in good season, well prepared and the portions are large. I really recommend the roasted chicken catering menu, it is delicious and delivered warm. The beans are excellent. The "fried mojarra" dish is not mojarra. It is tilapia and almost no bones compared to a mojarra.“

“Have been here a couple times, and it’s always utterly delicious. Plus, the folks who work their are so kind and friendly. I asked for veggie tacos one time, and not only were they flavorful and overflowing, but they even checked to see if I wanted their fresh handmade tortillas — anyone can do a great meat taco, but veggie tacos are harder to pull off without actual spices and attention to detail. Salsas are fantastic. I am in love with this place.“

“If you’re looking for real, authentic Mexican food this is the spot. Honestly, it’s the best I’ve had outside of my mom’s cooking (and that says a lot). The homemade tortillas are amazing, the salsa is full of flavor, and everything tastes fresh and made with care.
I originally came here craving menudo, and now I’m completely hooked. If it were closer, I’d probably eat here every day but it’s 100% worth the drive.
The staff is incredibly kind, the place is clean, and it has that cozy, local atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Prices are fair for the area, and the portions are very generous. Highly recommend“

“It is a small restaurant, but great in its quality, attention, service and its prices are very affordable, I recommend it for its breakfasts such as chilaquiles, eggs with chorizo and eggs Benedict's, its sound is generally attentive to all its customers, because it has a large number of regular customers.“

“Yum!
A real cross-section of Richmond and beyond returns here for quality menu hits and the standards you expect from a food truck.
The tacos de asada are a can't-go-wrong classic and I appreciate the mix of carrots, radishes, onions and peppers that complement each dish. Fully eat the quesadillas while they are warm; don't save to reheat this selection, as it's cheese is much better freshly cooked. The quesabirrias hit the spot for me, too! I like the horchata the best of the aguafrescas that are all refreshing and not overly sweet. I like the doradito light-browning of some of the food selections, and the salsas are very tasty - I like the green sauce the best.
The staff members are keen to make the food as you like it and aim to get your meals to you with efficiency and a smile. They care!
Many people return here from what I've witnessed. The corner can be a bit windy on the straightaway from Civic Center to the West, but on a sunny day it can be great to borrow part of the bench and table to eat by the tropically-colored and decorated food truck. Some people choose to carefully dine in their cars for warmth, too, somewhat like a drive-up diner.
My friends and family and I will see you at La Alma de Sol!“

“love the Red Wet Burritos and Carnitas!!!“
“the menu i saw online was an old one—they’ve raised their prices significantly since. 12.99 for a regular burrito, 14.99 for a super burrito. burritos are smaller than other neighboring taquerias, so you’re not getting as much bang for your buck. nonetheless, a pretty good burrito. it’s in a gas station but there are some stools where you can eat inside if you wish.“

“Really love their shrimp cocktail. It’s one of the best shrimp cocktails in the county I think. I haven’t eaten anything else at Maria’s Taqueria because I’m hooked on the shrimp cocktail but my boyfriend loves their super burrito with Carnitas.“

“Everytime I go here the food it really good. I had a super burrito today and it was fire. I also recommend the steak cheese fries. Service is qucik. And don't hesitate to ask for more salsa. Always a winner in my book. Sometimes it can get a bit crowded. Because people know about this place. I'm not sure if you can order ahead. But I'm gonna see next time I go. They also have a market behind the truck. They have a seating area close by if you choose to seat and eat. There's parking on the inside the lot. So, if you're in the area and want some Mexican food truck experience. Then this is your go to truck.“
“The food is soooo good, feels like I'm eating moms cooking. I drove past them and decided to give it a try since they are fairly new. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and they even have Karaoke on Friday only . The vibe was similar to a family get together, and the portions are generous. Def coming back again“

“Tacos Los Primos is a great place for real authentic Mexican food, whatever you choose is going to be amazing!
I ordered a bunch stuff for the day laborers that were helping old lady Pucklepuss straighten up her hedgerow and got a sampler of Taquitos while I was waiting, and they were the best I've ever had!
5 ☆☆☆☆☆ for sure, no shit!“

“I was in Richmond for the annual San Pablo Avenue March of Hoes from Telegraph Ave all the way up to McDonald, where all the nighttime Hoes come out during the daylight for all to see! It's quite a sight, and the best place to see all the dysfunctional people is from a window seat at the El Pollo Loco Chicken Restaurant, right there on San Pablo Avenue! Let me tell you... Nothing beats watching Hoes strut and shuffle while your eating perfectly cooked chicken and fries! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆“

“The food and service are really good im a local and me and my family come here a lot whenever we arw hungry. I love the nacho fries because they make them with nacho cheese instead of shredded cheddar. Also ive had breakfast burritos at multiple places in the area and the ones here blow any of those out of the water, the regular burritos are good too. All the food taste fresh and cooked with care not assembled quick and sloppy, the whole menu is solid and i plan to keep coming in the future.“
