“One cherished annual Christmas tradition that will be deeply missed by many In North County San Diego Is the Captain Keno's yearly Christmas Dinner. This year will be the last year. For over 50 years now, Gerry has also been famous for his great home made food, also for being kind to the underprivileged and homeless, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, which draw 500 to 600 guests every year. It’s always been free to.anyone who can’t afford it or just a $3.00 voluntary contribution. Owner Gerry explains proudly. “I get 15 to 20 volunteers that come to help every year, including the churches.” Gerry’s explains; “Nobody’s ever turned down for a meal here, even if they’re broke❣️“God bless you, Saint Gerry!” We will not likely meet your like anywhere again!😔“

“Our party of seven was seated promptly in the back. Fun model cars surrounded our table. I had chorizo and eggs. The serving was huge and fresh off the griddle. Fresh salsa and tortillas rounded out my plate.
The pancakes were rich and fluffy.

“Great food, excellent selection of wine to choose from. They let you pick anything from the bottle shop and enjoy it over dinner, but they charge a corkage fee for their own wine. That's poor. The restaurant is old and hasn't been updated in 20 years probably. Staff was friendly and made for an enjoyable evening but won't necessarily need to go back with so many other great options out there.“

“Used to go here 20 years plus ago. I feel like it was better then. The service was just horrible. Literally had to go find the lazy waiter to order. There were 4 tables eating. The food is still pretty good depending on what you get. Pancakes are great, sausage and bacon on point. The patty melt was about dennys quality. For $20+ dollars a plate (late bfast $125 for 5 of us) I would maybe expect a made to order patty, not a frozen one. Lots of frozen and canned products.
The owner has always been really nice and it’s a decent spot, just not what it used to be. I think if the service from the other staff was good I may return but not when I have to go track down the waiter for everything we need.“

“We have liked Honey Baked Hams for many years and usually will have one or two of them each year. This year we bought a small one for our Christmas dinner. It was small because we are keeping our distance during the pandemic.To get a ham, you will need to order it ahead of time. To pick it up, the order will stay when it will be available. we arrived at this place about 2:00 PM on Tuesday and the line to get in the store showed there were about six people in line. The store is small, and there are other things like deserts available, so the browsing of the people tends to make the line slower than it might be at a less busy time.Our wait to get took about twenty-minutes to go from waiting in line to placing the ham in the trunk. Tomorrow, we'll have the ham and it would surprise me if it wasn't just as perfect as we are expecting.This is small, but nice store. The people are helpful and pleasant.“
