“The Not-so-Tots are great. Order them with no liquid cheese, only shredded cheese (unless you like liquid imitation cheese). The chili cheese dogs are pretty good too. The hamburgers, are pretty awful. Every time I have ordered one, the meat has been stale. That kind of almost rancid fat taste. I gave it 4 stars overall, because tater tot nachos? Doesn't get much better than that. Atmosphere is lacking, the tables are crowded together, and they're always busy, so service is so-so.“

“We always love going to Islands, and this visit was no exception. The service at the Carmel Mountain location was just as great as what we remember from the very first time we enjoyed a meal at the Islands near our home many years ago.

This time we were joined by some of our grandchildren, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The food was great, the service was excellent, and we all had a wonderful time together.

“Carvers Rancho Bernardo is about old values and quality! We, Realtors, give a very high rating, all around, especially to the friendly and professional Staff. Unfortunately, We can not say the same for Manager. It’s obvious, he needs to learn some culture and manners from the Staff Members. We just recently heard, he verbally hurt a number of loyal Carvers’ customers, including few of us, with his dishonest and rude behavior…for no reasons, at all. To make it worse: He walks away, and does not allow the smallest comment. Mr. Manager, while you were in the first grade, we, the old Patrons created the “Desired Image” of Carvers, by our frequent attendance and positive word of mouth among Newcomers!“

“I stumbled upon this cafe while I had a meeting across the street. I heard they offered some pretty good food, so I stopped in for an early lunch.

They offer quite a bit of items, from breakfast, to sandwiches, salads, wraps, and even Mexican food. The young lady at the register and the cookie baker apparently, recommended the rolled tacos, so I settled on those. It was a good deal, too at $7.80, especially since the meal came for four rolled tacos and a side of rice and beans.

The rolled tacos did not suffer from lack of crispiness, because they definitely had that crisp factor, but the addition of more shredded beef inside would have been beneficial. They tasted very good, especially dipping them in the house hot sauce that accompanied them.

Both,the rice and beans were pretty good. The rice had good, flavor, seasoning, and had that good loose appeal. The beans were of the re-fried variety, and had very good flavor. They would make a very good bean and cheese burrito.

The hospitality was welcoming. I liked that the young lady at the front took the time to explain the cafe's offerings and operation schedule and such.

The cafe is located at the Quidel Corporation Headquarters. There's plenty of parking available.“

“A grill come small convenience store all rolled into one. Went there for some odd groceries and found that the grill was pretty good as well. There was nothing bad their. Again nothing fancy but certainly good value for money and could not complain about any of the dishes I ordered. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.“

“My wife and I stopped into the Spot because it was the type of food we were looking for after a long day of traveling. The spot offers pub fare such as wings, mac n cheese, burgers, pizza, etc. My wife had fish tacos and I had buffalo chicken tenders and the "adult mac n cheese." All of the food came out in large portions! Food was great. The bar is laid back like a traditional pub. You can't go wrong here if you are looking for pub food at a reasonable price.“
