“Ribs and chocolate cake, and sweet smashed potatoes and mac n cheese were superb. As was the tri tip salad. Service was the best. I wish I could teach ALL restaurants how to make regular mashed potatoes, especially if they aren't serving gravy. Never the less, 5 stars.“

“In San Fernando on business. Decided to have dinner while waiting for traffic to die down a bit. Doing a search Carbon Grill sounded good. When we got there we were the only customers. Nice little place but other reviews suggested something else and parking for some reason was non existent. Had to park two blocks away! Good menu and prices were fair for these times. Food took a bit long even though it was only us. That is a good thing since it means freshly cooked. Ordered a burger, salads and fried Yucca. Good meal overall. Clean place with outdoor patio along with inside tables. Only complaint was too much plastic used for this level of dining.“

“Quesataco is amazing!! So juicy and flavorful, it’s delicious every bite. Regular taco is delicious too if cheese ain’t ur thing but if it is, mulita is pretty good as well. Tacos are on the smaller side, so I usually order 2-3. If you are craving for dessert, their churros are warm and crispy! Highly recommend this place“

“Let me just start by saying or family loves BBQ. We've traveled all over the south, and check out at least one spot in every city. I never expected to find a place this good, this authentic, in California. The food experience was so phenomenal. Wagyu brisket was my favorite. I'm a traditionalist, I don't like a lot of sauce. This place let's the meat speak for itself. Wonderfully seasoned. My wife was all about the ribs, and they were amazingly moist. She had me try their mustard based sauce and wow, was it good. If your in the area, or not... just make it a destination. You won't be disappointed.“

“We got ~3 plates with sauce and rest with just salt. The ones with sauce just had way too much sauce on them. Ingredient quality was okay. The service was lacking, they took our order slow, the foods took forever to come out, and never checked if we were enjoying the food, etc.“

“After spending the day exploring museums around UCLA, I found myself looking for a place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a good meal. That search led me to Sam’s Eatery, and I’m glad it did.
What immediately stood out was how welcoming and comfortable the place felt. There was no unnecessary pretension—just a relaxed atmosphere, friendly people, and the kind of environment that makes you want to stay a little longer. After hours of walking through galleries and exhibits, it was exactly what I needed.
The food was fresh, satisfying, and prepared with obvious care. Sometimes the best meals are not the most complicated ones, but the ones where every ingredient feels right and everything comes together naturally. That was my experience here. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and every bite felt like comfort food done properly.
The staff were attentive and genuinely kind. Service was quick, but I never felt rushed. It felt more like being welcomed into a neighborhood favorite than simply visiting another restaurant in Los Angeles.
One thing I really appreciated was how authentic the entire experience felt. In a city full of trendy spots trying to impress you with appearances, Sam’s Eatery succeeds by focusing on what truly matters: good food, good service, and a place where people enjoy spending their time.
By the time I finished my meal, I realized this was one of those places I would happily return to whenever I’m in the area. Great food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere—sometimes that’s all you need for a memorable dining experience.“

“Delicious, fresh meats, including pork belly, angus beef brisket, marinated bbq angus beef, black angus choice rib eye, beef teriyaki, and more. Everything paired perfectly with rice & fresh vegetable salad. The appetizers, egg soup, spicy soup, kimchi, broccoli, & brussel sprouts were also excellent.
Outstanding service by Michelle, Melvin, & Destiny. They deserve special recognition for being attentive, welcoming, friendly, and kind.
We had a wonderful time cooking & sharing a meal with mi la familia of origin in a relaxing & enjoyable ambiance. Thank you for the great experience. God bless!“

“Came here for valentines with my boyfriend and we made a reservation in advance. There’s some parking available in their lot but it can be crowded, so we opted for street parking. We ordered the garlic noodles, fried rice (which was my mom’s recommendation), and two cuts of meat. We left satisfied but not overly stuffed. The waiter was nice and though it did get a little smoky at times, it was a nice vibe. The fried garlic noodles had a great texture and the fried rice had an umami taste. The meat was tender and you cook it yourself. They have an omakase option if you’re looking to be more structured.“

“Unfortunately, not quite what it used to be. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. I hadn't been the Bear Pit in probably 6 to 7 years....new booths, new menus. Same atmosphere. I ordered the BBQqed beef sandwich. Not the same smoked flavor, and the meat was tough. No longer give you the dill spears or the pickled carrots, and peppers. Their sauce is very runny. Service was excellent ...not sure I'll be back anytime soon. My first visit was in the early 1960's. I guess all good things must come to an end 😒“

Wrong place, simple menu, something for everyone, friendly staff, family owned. Outdoor dining, live music on occasion, takeout and pickup available…. Hole in the wall, rustic and comfortable, it’s really a unique inviting establishment“

“This place is pretty good for quick food similar to L&L BBQ. The food came out quick, was fresh and the people working were nice and friendly. There is limited seating and parking. We ordered the Bento. 1 Teriyaki chicken and 1 katsu chicken. Both came with macaroni, 2 fried dumplings rice and some salad. Overall, this place is yummy for the price! Will come back again!“

“As a realtor, my days are often long and nonstop, so having something quick, delicious, and easy to prepare at home is a lifesaver. We always buy the frozen Khinkali from Gev’s Kitchen, and they never disappoint!
They’re perfect for serving guests, taste amazing, and are so simple to cook after a busy day of showing homes to clients. Truly one of our favorite go-to meals. Highly recommend!“

“That’s what I’m talking about! This is some real serious BBQ. I had the two meat combo, which was pulled pork, brisket with mac & cheese, and baked beans. Let me tell you, I’m real picky when it comes to mac & cheese, and this was killer! The baked beans were awesome too. Full of flavor. It’s really hard to find a good barbecue nowadays, and I’m so happy that they are down the street from where I live.Favorite was the brisket ?“

“I had an excellent experience at BBQ Chicken! The chicken was incredibly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender inside. The sauce had the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and just the right amount of spice. Everything tasted fresh, and you can tell they put a lot of care into the quality of their food. The portions were generous, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. If you’re craving authentic Korean fried chicken, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more flavors. Highly recommended!“

2. Hot sour soup
3. French style beef - C5
4. Orange chicken
5. Eggplant with minced pork (spicy)

“5 STARS SUPER DELICIOUS EVERY TIME“
“For me, the menu highlights are the grilled meats, jambalaya, gumbo. I saw how the Pit-master grilled the meats. He was very clear about no shortcuts or rushing the process. The jambalaya and gumbo were the best items I ordered today (11/11). I will definitely order these again. They were the best I ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned with high-quality meats, and very good. It’s the best I’ve ever tasted. I’ve only had commercialized gumbo and jambalaya at chain restaurants.I didn’t order any grilled meats. I anticipate the grilled meats being tasty because I tasted some of the meat in my gumbo and jambalaya at it was good and cooked to perfection. The sides were disappointing and I will not order again:Mac and Cheese:A little dry. Too much salt, too much unmelted cheese. Lacked a creamy inside. The bottom and top were just globs of unmelted cheese. Will not order again.Collard Greens:Tasted bland as if from a can. Mixed with spinach and mainly tasted like spinach. Will not order again. I added the greens to my gumbo so I didn’t waste them. Let’s be clear, the greens weren’t horrible. I grew up picking and eating freshly picked collards so I have high standards for greens.Red Beans & Rice:Beans were cold and tasted like they were from a can. Not the Louisiana red beans and rice I was expecting at all. Rice was undercooked with a slight crunch. I added the rice to my gumbo when I reheated it on the stove. I will figure out what to do with the beans.Customer service was good. The lady was very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure every customer was taken care of. She even gave out peanut butter cookies while we waited. Bring your patience as this is a small-scale (lean) food-service establishment.I spent $30 for 2 half orders of gumbo and jambalaya ($10 each), and 3 sides. I probably could have saved a few dollars if I ordered a veggie plate. It was a little pricey for the portion sizes. I charge it to the gumbo and jambalaya which was $10 each and served in 8oz containers. I usually pay $8 for 12oz or 16oz of soup.On a positive note, I got to sample the menu. I know what I like and don’t like. I don’t expect to like every menu item at any restaurant. Bottomline, I will go again.“

“We loved everything. The service was very friendly and professional. The place is very welcoming. But the best part was food.
Big portions and sooo yummy. We ordered chicken and beef shwarma and they were great, but chicken lula was the best we've ever had, and we know Mediterranean food.
Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go again and try other items on the menu.“
