“love love love it here! my mom and I stayed in fairfax for a whole week and we ate here several times. food is amazing, atmosphere is amazing, staff is amazing. special shout out to our main man Ty who remembered us by name and was always super fun and friendly every time we came in. he may even play you a few songs on his guitar if you’re lucky. this place was definitely a highlight of our trip and i’ll miss going there when we leave. we could also tell that this place is a huge hit with the locals which is always nice to see. thanks for all of the great food, drinks, conversations, and songs Barefoot Cafe! until next time! -Ebony“

“Stillwater is one of those places that really captures the laid-back Fairfax vibe. It has a great mix of good food, drinks, and live music, which makes it more than just a typical bar or restaurant.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a nice indoor/outdoor feel. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends or enjoy a casual date night. When there’s live music, the energy is fun but not overwhelming, and you can tell it’s a local favorite.
Food and drinks have been consistently good on my visits. The menu has solid comfort-style options, and the bar makes quality cocktails. Service has also been friendly and attentive, even when it’s busy.
If you’re in Fairfax and want a place with character, music, and a good community feel, Stillwater is definitely worth a stop.“

“My husband and I came here for breakfast before our hike in Muir Woods. Husband got the huevos rancheros with house potatoes which was really good! I got the Mexican scramble with hash browns and I think this was literally the best omelette I’ve ever had. I was so full for hours afterwards (and yes, even after the hike I barely had any room for anything else). Would highly recommend!

“The steamed clams and mussels were the best I've had in years. Perfectly cooked, not overdone and small like so many places. The ribeye was delicious and the mashed potatoes that came with it were perfect 👌. Fish tacos were complex and delicious. You can tell they have an artist back there. Service was great and added to the experience ❤️. We went with a toddler and sat outside, luckily most people were inside, but they were very kind and seemed to enjoy her antics which always makes it more enjoyable for the adults.“

“Comforts is truly a local gem. Their notorious Chinese chicken salad is absolutely amazing, and honestly, they would benefit from selling the dressing online or through DoorDash because parking in downtown San Anselmo during lunchtime can definitely be a challenge.

Beyond the salad, there are so many other delicious menu items — the mocha and coffee drinks are excellent, and even the appetizers, like the spring rolls, are consistently great.

The service is always polite, efficient, and welcoming, and the bright, relaxing atmosphere makes it such an enjoyable spot to visit.“

“Be careful what you order, the croissants are immense. We ordered breakfast including one signature croissant and couldn't eat half of what we got. Everything was delicious, the coffee was hot and strong, the staff were attentive and courteous. We were on vacation, however, rather than try someplace new we came back here a second time - we don't often do that!“

“Contrary to what people say about the food, it’s good and fresh. From my experience, people just don’t know how to look and read the menu. Glad this is a smaller shop so they have more autonomy to deal with people’s lack of reading skills. Some people are just never please. Perfect place to get food with a group of 4 too.“

“Best food and drinks all weekend long. Marco was just an amazing individual. He made our anniversary even more special. My husband is a huge mezcal fan and asked if there was a drink the bartender could make and sure enough they made the most spectacular drink! We loved the food and drinks so much we stopped in after our long hike from Angel Island. I ordered the same mezcal drink as my husband did the night before. G was just an amazing bartender and helped us out with all the different types of mezcal and what characteristics they bring to the table. Marco even recognized us and said you guys are back. I have been telling everyone about your amazing restaurant and not just the quality of food but just the atmosphere and experience we had with the staff. They are all welcoming and make you feel like family.“

“Jose Luis took care of us! I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews, we came into town on a motorcycle trip and didn't want to ride to dinner. He was prompt with our drinks and dinner and the food was great for a hotel restaurant. Definitely would do it again!“
