“Jing at Izumi Cakes made our wedding cake for our June 2026 wedding at Mountain Terrace, and it tasted perfect.

We first fell in love with an Izumi cake at a friend's celebration, but when we ordered what we thought was the same cake later, it tasted different. Jing helped us solve the mystery.
From just a photo, she figured out that the cake we'd loved was actually her Kyoto matcha cake, layered with matcha cream and a taro and ube filling. Thanks to her, we got the exact flavor we'd been (literally) dreaming about.

She was also knowledgeable about her cakes. She recommended keeping ours no taller than 1.5 times the standard height so the matcha sponge would stay light and airy, and she
finished it in white whipped cream with clean horizontal lines, exactly the timeless, minimalist look we wanted. When I developed allergies before the wedding, she checked
every ingredient for me. She even let us pick up the cake before the shop opened and gave our coordinator detailed serving instructions.

One tip for future couples: Izumi doesn't offer tastings or slices, so sampling means buying whole cakes. Confirm the exact cake name and flavor before you order, so you don't end up buying extra cakes to figure it out like we did. Also, since the cake is light whipped cream with no internal supports, ask about extra support for a tall cake, and hold it on your lap if you're driving it yourself. Ours shifted on the winding road up to the venue
(our mistake for not holding it!), but our coordinator helped save it.

The Fremont location does not have the online order option for some reason but the person I spoke to on the phone clearly explained the different options and prices and confirmed my order multiple times. We ordered the mango, blueberry yogurt, and cloud cake flavors and they were all delicious!“

German Chocolate (4.5/5): A nice nutty upgrade to a standard chocolate cake with the classic coconut pecan frosting along with the walnut pieces. The chocolate frosting drizzle was a bit too sweet; would have preferred more of the coconut pecan frosting instead.

Pumpkin Spice (4/5): A nice spiced fall flavor. Could hVe used a bit more of a pumpkin flavor though.“

“Cakes and Bakes, another version of Chennai’s popular bakery concept, is located across the busy Gateway Plaza in Fremont on Walnut Ave, right next to Urgent Care, Allegro Music, and Smart & Final. The establishment has recently expanded its bakery offerings under the Nandi Cafe name.
The place has a generous seating area, although the dine-in experience itself is rather underwhelming. Their specialty occasion cakes, however, seem to be quite popular among the locals. They also offer a variety of savory snacks, like puffs and samosas, along with individual cake slices, including butterscotch and Black Forest flavors. For drinks, they have ready-made options such as mango lassi and rose milk.
Interestingly, although the other entrance carries the Nandi Cafe name, both entrances lead to essentially the same interior and checkout counter.
What started primarily as a bakery has gradually expanded its menu over time. First came North Indian savory options such as chaat, pani puri, and bhel puri, etc. followed more recently by South Indian offerings, including different varieties of dosa, uttapam, poori, and other tiffin items, and even daily thalis.
As for the food, it is not particularly impressive in terms of taste, but the portions are ok. The masala dosa, for instance, was large but on the dry side. A more generous serving of sambar would certainly have made it more enjoyable.
All in all, it's not a bad place to stop for a quick bite, especially if you're in the area and looking for something convenient, along with a bakery treat or a slice of cake and not having to beat a parking spot which are aplenty here.“
