Golden Gate Saloon Bar • $$
212 W Main St, Grass Valley

“First time at this place. The food was good but not great by a long shot, it was extremely salty and barely edible. I did not finish it because it was too salty. Did the chef even taste this stuff before he sent it out, I don't think so. The service could have been a little better, there was long gaps between seeing the waitstaff. The atmosphere was nice being in an old hotel.“

“Went in for the 1st time on a stormy Saturday. Restaurant was mostly empty. Ordered the cheeseburger they had on special and it was delicious. 1/2 lb Patty, thousand island style sauce was great I went with everything but the onions. Service was prompt and friendly. Price for burger and a very generous amount of homemade fries was about $15. Well worth the visit. I will return and try out the Brats. ? Definitely a sports bar vibe with multiple TV's. Might be a good place to watch the 49ers whip the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII?“

“Amazing bistro/cafe. So happy to have come across it today. My daughter had a burrito that she said was delicious (and was massive) and I had the Russian burger which was also delicious. We also had a pumpkin latte and a spicy chai. The latte was good and the chai was probably the best one I've ever had. And everyone working there was kind and welcoming. Our new favorite place!“

“Had a great time here. Beer didn’t knock my socks off or get me taking crowlers home but was very drinkable. Food is damn good. We had the elk bratwurst and it was even better than expected: unique meat but not “gamey” at all. Waffle fries were very crispy. Their ranch is really, really good.Service is very good. Not sure if they do it every day but they had live music during the daytime and the dude was dropping the jams. Good times all around.“

“Loved the Thirsty Barrel! Highly recommend the truffle fries. They were seasonsed just right. Loved that they had vegan options as well, rare for a brewery! Our dog really loved the doggy patty too!!The wait time was long, but it was a Saturday night and we had a pup so we needed the patio. They could definitely fit more tables out there, in my opinion. That being said, they set us up at a makeshift bar spot because we had a long drive home, which was very nice of them!“

“Can't get enough of these BBQ's in my mouth! The sauce fills your palate with a whole bunch of goodness. Lately my UTI has been messing with me, but that won't stop me from coming back! The workers are incredible to say the least, unfortunately they don't have that one handsome chocolate gentlemen working there anymore. But Anel (I think that's his name) satisfies me regardless. I get lonely during the holidays but seeing these chocolate and mocha workers twinkles my winkle!! Looking to coming back all of next year (hopefully my UTI doesn't keep flaring up) it's such a wonderland at Big A Drive In Root Beer“
