“Clean, friendly and courteous staff. The display showcase of goodies, serious eye candy. I called the Bakery at 8 am on my Birthday. Had found out about the gluten free bakery the night before. My call was in hopes of finding a last minute cake. I was greeted with kindness and service above and beyond expectations. Although a 48hr notice is needed for orders, I was surprised with....We will make you a cake. I was so appreciative! being gluten free has been tough, especially giving up cakes, muffins and more. Thank You so much for making my Birthday Cake. The Flavor and visual presentation was above and beyond my expectations! I highly recommend stopping in and trying out all the yummiest treats ever!“

“I had a wonderful Mother’s Day breakfast with my two sons this morning. The pine cafe has been on my list of restraints to try for a while. The food was delish. Service was friendly and welcoming. Small town atmosphere was great too. And every mother was given a long stem rose . Between my sons and The Cafe I felt so full of love. I now have a favorite breakfast spot in Grass Valley .“

“5 out of 5 stars. Had the pleasure of experiencing authentic quality Mexican food yesterday. The grilled petrale sole fish tacos were DELISH. We love that the chips were flavorful and crispy.... NOT greasy at all. The guacamole was in a simple way Perfect !!! And finally the vegetable soup was seasoned just right and beyond satisfying. Speaking for myself many times when I eat Mexican food at restaurants my stomach eventually 'pays for it ' as I feel stuffed and many ingredients just don't agree with me. Not the case here. The portions were healthy, well prepared yummy and enough. I will mention that the service was equally enjoyable as we struck up conversation with Victor, our waiter, who happens to be one of the dedicated owners. The place itself is modest and clean and the background Latin music just added to the ambience. Looking forward to returning to the explore this little gem's additional cuisine options.“

“I've been here twice. When they say garlic, they really mean garlic, which I appreciate. The burgers are good, with vegan and gluten free options. I recommend both the pesto and garlic fries.Dietary restrictions: All their fries are gluten free. Gluten free buns available.“

“I am 49 and have eaten every kind of cuisine and restaurant around. I know the price and amount I should be given. I will just be honest with my 3 pop years of experience. The food quality here and restaurant ambience is perfect. who would ever have thought that up here in gold country that is 150 years old or more tou cokld find perfect Thai food? The bad.....I find it overpriced for the area. I paid 15 dollars what I thought was worth 11. But just to be fair..min this area I dont think there is much better. now if these people were drove an hour to Sacramento, then there would be better choices. so...in the end..its a fair deal. The owner and wait staff are s UK per friendly and the food is good. I am bog so I want bigger so I want bigger portions. No complaints. if you are in this area...then this place is awesome.“

“Tonight we had the most wonderful meal at La Gastronomia here in Grass Valley. Not only is the deli filled with Italian treats, cheeses,, breads, homemade pastas and Italian meats, but this delightful establishment serves the most authentic and delicious Italian dishes. Tonight we tried Spaghetti with Amatriciana sauce (look it up - its fantastic) and Fettucine Puttensca (with capers and olives). We also shared a delicious Bresaola salad of arugula, cured bresaola meat with Grana Padano parmesan with lemon oil! We've found our new favorite place to eat and can't wait to try their phenomenal pizzas. A meal in themselves! It was so good, we ordered Cannolis and an EXTRA helping of Spaghetti with Amatriciana Guanciale, pecorino cheese and tomatoe! Plus, its very clean, Covid friendly. masks, outdoor seating or to go orders. An authentic jewell in Grass Valley!! Sorry, no picture of our food. We ate too fast!!“

“I had lived in Grass Valley for almost 2 years and am sad to say that I have never been to the Afternoon Deli until now. I wish I would have tried it a lot sooner! Even though the deli is small, they have a cute and quaint outdoor area with plenty of seating. The food is amazing!! As someone who is trying more vegan options I LOVED this tempeh bacon sandwich & hope that it becomes apart of the regular menu. They have a pretty big menu with options for vegans, vegetarians & meat eaters. The staff are super friendly & were so helpful when I asked for recommendations since it was my first time there. I have so much more on the menu that I want to try & am really pleased with the quality of the food and the price. This is a must stop on my list for one of the best places in GV! I do wish that the Afternoon Deli would be a little more active on Facebook or Instagram so that the community could see what their specials are & to be more involved.“
