Each piece is also pretty thick. The salmon bowl was delicious and filling, and the owner was so kind when she gave me it! I think I'll definitely come back here again if I'm craving sushi.“

“I found Ikeda Japanese Dining on Saturday on Google Maps after driving a couple of hours and feeling hungry. I arrive a little before 4 pm beating the evening dinner crowd hungry for something other than fast food. I was greeted by the hostess/waiter and offered the choice of a table or booth in a manner of a practiced courtesy. Before ordering, I had to use the restroom and was pleasantly surprised that not only was the facility clean but looked like an attractive restroom in a nice home instead of a neglected facility in a community park. The décor of the restaurant itself is simple but welcoming.

The menu is fairly extensive that would satisfy most. I placed my order and started reading my book (I was dining alone that day) when the food started coming sooner than expected. I mentioned that was fast to the waiter and she paused and then made a philosophical comment about the concept of time that made me chuckle. The Japanese style fried Calamari was hot and crispy and a good amount for an appetizer. I ordered two rolls. The Ichiban Roll (Spicy tuna roll topped with yellowtail tempura) that tasted freshly made but did not taste “spicy” which was fine with me. The Spicy Baked Salmon Roll (California roll, jalapeño, topped with baked salmon, eel sauce, spicy mayo and sriracha) had just the right amount spicy heat to make taste interesting and enjoyable. The sauce on both rolls was tasty.

I must say, the presentation of the food was excellent. I was impressed in the way the Baked Salmon Roll looked elegant on a broad leaf (don't know what vegetable that was). The sauce on the roll was added with a touch of artistic flair. My complements to the kitchen.

A shout out to the waiter Leann whose courtesy, attentiveness and general hospitality was exceptional and who represented the face of the restaurant very well. Next time I am in the neighborhood, I plan to come again with my family. Cheers!“

“My daughter and I have been on a teriyaki spree during our trip, so we decided to give this place a try. The online menu doesn't show everything they offer. Besides the usual chicken and beef teriyaki bowls and plates, they also have wraps, salads, and quesadillas. You can also get brunch/breakfast items like waffles, crepes, pancakes, and smoothies. A very wide range of options. The shrimp options are crossed off the menu in the store.

The lady behind the counter was super nice and patient as I couldn't decide what I wanted. My daughter got a chicken wrap, and I got a half-and-half beef and chicken teriyaki bowl. The meat was well-cooked (the beef was not chewy but very tender), but the teriyaki sauce is served on the side or on top of the meat, not seared and marinated in it. It was good but not as good as some other teriyaki places we visited, and the price was the same.

The store was very clean, and everything was made to order. There is a small seating area outside. We would eat here again if we didn't have other options.

“Yet another winner from KEI Concepts. The hand rolls are served warm, one at a time, so you get the full flavor of the roll. They advise you eat them as soon as they are served + follow that advice. Consider the yuzu kosho sauce to complement the rolls. The lunch special of four rolls, miso soup and edamame is a great bargain, and they will substitute if you have allergies. The cucumber salad and crispy rice tartar are a nice way to start.“

“I just had an amazing experience here. I'm relatively new to sushi, just checking out the local restaurants near my apartment.

I showed up at around 5:30pm after opening and ordered a few different things at the bar. I was the only person there and got to talking with the sushi chef, who was incredibly friendly, honest, and welcoming. They taught me how to do everything without it being uncomfortable at all, even down to the beer recommendation. The food was of course delicious, tasted quite fresh, and was prepared beautifully.

I learned that the place has dedicated regularly customers, which it remains faithful to - apparently the restaurant has been here since 1984 (or was it '82?).

“If you’re craving teriyaki chicken and beef, this place is it. First bite, noticed how good the quality of meat is. The prices are so reasonable and good for how good the quality is and how filling it is. I got the beef and chicken plate and I usually eat a lot, but I was so full with a quarter of it still left. This was 1000% a solid teriyaki bowl and will come back for more.“

“Super tasty, unpretentious, simple sushi. Came in for lunch, the waiter pointed out a special close to what I had wanted in case I didn't see the better deal. Had a beer in the coldest mug ever! Spicy tuna and a cali roll were served quick on the same plate. Veggie tempura was filling and good. Also had the rice and miso soup, all were good with no discrepancies. My only drawback is presentation, no wow or zaz in the serving. 10/10 would still come back for lunch or date. Fast and attentive service.“

“This is some of the best sushi in HB, and maybe in all of OC. Some of their specials are pretty mind blowing (the price tag is too, but that's sushi/fresh fish!). Service is great. As others mentioned, if you want to be certain of a table, it's best to book as they are pretty regularly busy. You can go for a great lunch too. Parking is easy. My only negative is the restaurant smells very greasy to me, but that only bothers me upon entering, after that I stop noticing it. Not a lot of ambiance, but this is not unusual for sushi especially in a strip mall.“

“I was able to come here twice while on business. I did enjoy all the variety of toppings to the 3 or 5 protein bowl. The rice was great for the foundation.I tried the volcano 2 and spicy mayo combo and couldn't really taste the heat at all. Probably needed more flavoring. A but bland. But the bowl size and portion for 5 protein is good. 15.99. Adding an avocado baby scoop is probably worth it at 1.50 extra to give your bowl extra texture. Enjoyed the bowl. Spice up the sauces.“

“I come to U Sushi every Friday, and have ordered most of their menu. Overall, its a very high quality sushi restaurant for a fair price. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are delicious, and their appetizers like the gyoza and chicken wings are delicious.
