“Recently this place has become my hidden gem. I am absolutely obsessed with this little restaurant nestled in downtown La Verne. The food is absolutely fantastic, and the owners are criminally under charging for their generous portions and delicious food. However, I think im most impressed about how much the owners care for their customers. My sister and I went to get coffee from nambah, and we came back to wait for our food. The owner saw that we had our drinks and without even asking, included coffee biscuits/cookies in our bag to enjoy with our beverages. My sister and I were absolutely baffled at the generosity because this is the type of treatment you’d see in places abroad. But we felt totally welcomed, cared after, and most importantly viewed as people rather than customers. I have been going here once or twice a week for the past 2 months and they haven’t failed me once.“

“Excellent service and food! Our family are regulars there and we joined them for lunch and had a delicious meal. Shout out to Abel and the entire lunch crew. You all were wonderful especially with our large group (including babies). The ramen, various sushi rolls, tempera, asparagus appetizer, miso soups and rice were all excellent and full of flavor! I’ve been to other WaBa Grill locations, but this La Verne location is extra, extra clean. The restaurant is always spotless, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious every time we visit.
What really makes it special is the amazing staff and owner. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming with a smile which makes the whole experience even better.

The champion ramen had a good mixture of wet and dry flavors. Chashu + seaweed had a subtle fish dry taste vibe which is new. Noodles were chewy and not clumpy mouth feel. Broth and ground pork were rich but not overly. Overall taste + texture was superb and especially warming during the winter. Also the waiter Rick is such a homeboy and service is amazing.

Only complaint is that we order the 2nd pancake a few minutes late and it didn't arrive till most of us were finished. Be warned .. get your orders in for the cloud pancakes early. The fried rice uses broken rice with a deep, complex seasoning that's not a salty soy sauce bath, such that the char on the shrimp mingles with the rice and enhances it in a unique way. The base broth is simple and pleasing for people who want it that way, but the fried chili oil and fermented chili paste add heat and complexity to taste.“
