Frolic Room Cocktail Bar • $
6245 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles

“So my friends invited us here because it was allegedly haunted and although we didn't see a ghost it was still really fun! It's a really unique bar, super small and intimate, and since it's next to the Pantages Theatre you get to see a lot of interesting characters. The vibe is cool, and not serious, I would say it's a good place to get the feel of HOLLYWOOD.“

We ordered the chicken basket and it was wickedly delicious. The way the chicken was prepared, widely woke up our taste buds. It was very close to home as well, and we will certainly be visiting more often in our future. I highly recommend Crawford.“

“the kibitz room is really funny to me, I don't know what it is it's just kind of funny that it exists you know, like it's such a different vibe than the deli. they let me bring in a big thermos after giving it the smell test and making sure it wasn't full of a gallon of vodka, so I was lucky I wasn't carrying around my usual gallon of vodka. the world is going to hell in a handbasket. one time a server did not believe me that I wanted the pickled herring, I guess I'm hard to read, but I promise I never make jokes like that, if I order it it means I want it. I respect that server though. there was one time where there was a server there and he lived in unfortunate circumstances, but he did me a favor which makes him honest in my eyes. I just love the cast of people there, including the ones that are only there for a bit because they screwed up Rodney bingenheimer's order. hahaha“

Frank 'n Hank Cocktail Bar • $
518 S Western Ave, Los Angeles

“One of my favorite dive bars in town. Inexpensive drinks ($11 for my Ford's Gin 'n tonic) and excellent service from the bartenders. On a slow night Justin can easily keep up with drink orders while beating you at darts. Dodgers and Lakers games usually on the TVs. Last call at 1:30 am most nights. There's one scruffy pool table in the bar, one dart board, and the men's room has more graffiti than most men's rooms. It gets packed Thursdays through Saturdays. Plenty of friendly people in the bar. Very diverse crowd. One night as I was walking up, a woman stumbled out and threw up right at the entrance. Everyone just stepped over it to get in. The only thing this place is missing is good bar food, but you're welcome to bring your own. Monty's is next door where you can get a good plant-based burger, or you can go across the street to Carl's Jr and get a Star Burger for half the price. Loads of excellent Korean food nearby. It would be nice if someone opened a taco stand in the parking lot at the corner. No parking, of course, and this part of K-Town can be tough to find a spot. Best to Uber/Lyft anyway. Have a good time here! Cheers!“

“Party it up at offbeat where chill vibes and good music fill up your night.Everyone was jamming and dancing on the main floor, it can get tight but in a good way just like o’ times getting that jump boogie on.It was y2k night so they were playing all the pop hits from the 2000’s 90’s 80’s that get you to groove and rock out to.They play no doubt don’t speak and everyone sang their hearts out, it was a moment.Such a mix ground and feels like the kickback block party where everyone from the neighborhood comes through. They got booths along the side wall with small tables for that vip section, they even had a photographer with a backdrop set up to take them old school portraits.Long bar so plenty of room to go up and grab a drink. They have a HUGE smoking patio out back with plenty of seating with tables under the canopy but also standing areas to vibe with your tribe, crew or old click as if it were back in the days of high school. There’s also one of those old school Photo Booths that prints outOver all chill spot and finally a spot where people actually dance and vibe with each other. All mixed and wide age groups. This is the homie spot that makes you appreciate highland park.“

“Haven't been to Gold Room in years, better than I remember it. Small dive bar off Sunset. Bartender Tony was friendly, attentive and quick to take our drink order. His cocktails were very very well made. He takes his time and you can tell enjoys the craft. Tried the Double Trouble and Pineapple Express. Double Trouble is absolutely delicious - 10/10. Pineapple Express was just as good, but def loaded (has mezcal & tequila). It'll have you feeling good real quick. Drink prices are reasonable priced for LA. Same for their daily happy hour menu. Very solid beer menu too. They have a jukebox you can pay to control the music which is kinda cool. Get to hear a variety of music genres cause of it. Solid bar for a quick beer or cocktail.“

“If you like hidden dive bars, this is the place. I'm from the Midwest, and Lei Aloha reminds me of those taverns that working class folks went to after work. Drinks are stiff and affordable. We went there on a whim, after lunch nearby. Jukebox takes credit cards. Vending machine in the rear for snacks and flatscreens to watch the games. Plenty of parking in rear. We will be back.“

Dime

Dime Pubs • $
442 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles

“I'll put it to you like this, on the night Black Panther came out in theatres the late great Chadwick Bozeman spent the evening with friends at the dime. Now think about that, he could've been anywhere in the world but he was at the dime. My point is this is the kind of place that the biggest celebrities in the world can come and feel like just part of the crowd. The Dime is by far one of my favorite dive bars in all of LA. They keep a good rotation of djs and they all bring their own flavor. I'm a big 90's hip hop head and they're always playing dope stuff that I grew up on. Bartenders are always a vibe and pours are legit. I used to frequent the Tuesday comedy night when Adam and Nicky hosted and I can't count the amount of good local comics and famous comics I've seen for free here. Now that I'm older I don't go on the weekends as much because it gets stupid packed but if that's your things go for it. For the guys this is one of the best places to meet women because no one is pretentious here, just enjoying life and vibing. With Fairfax constantly changing by the day it's great to still have a local staple that hasn't lost its magic.“

Drawing Room Cocktail Bar • $
1800 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles

“A cash only dive bar, it's very dark inside. They open at 8am, which is perfect for night shift workers. They always greet you with a smile. Drinks are reasonable and you will always walk away laughing because it is a fun atmosphere to relax and get cocktails. They also do Karaoke on Sunday nights, it's busy, but great singers and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend if you need a great dive bar. Parking is usually available in the parking lot or on the street nearby. Just watch out for street cleaning signs if you leave your car.“

Modelo Especial

“I visited back in Fall 2023, so while this review is outdated, I remember the experience. If you asked me for a high-end afternoon tea recommendation, this place would be my first inclination. I took my sister here for her birthday in 2023 at $109 per person for afternoon tea; hotel valet was $17. I was pleased with the ambience, aesthetics, and service at this price point. A glass of champagne was included with the tea, strawberries & cream, and food.“

Feather It in IPA

“I came here on a whim after wanting to avoid the crowds at Zebulon. Honestly this bar is a hidden gem, and thank god it hasn’t been flipped upside down and turned into condos. The outside is a neon lit heaven from the 1960s. You enter and the staff are warm from the get go. There is a left and a right side to the bar: The right side is a sizable dance floor complete with a gigantic disco ball, Dj booth, a couple leather booths, and panther sculptures. They played disco and funk this very day and the crowd was diverse and cool. The left side is the bar where there a probably 5 or six extremely comfortable retro leather booths. They have a great tequila selection but you can also order a $4 Tecate. My kind of joint full of vibe that i can’t wait to try again!“

The Echo Dive Bar • $$

“Decent venue, nothing fancy, but is affordable, sometimes you can snag a spot on the street near by, they have cool acts and events. I am surprised I never reviewed it since I have been going to the Echo for over 10 years for concerts, NYE parties and always had a good time. The crowd is OK, bathrooms clean enough, drinks are reasonably priced. I like their DJ-s and their sets, really fun and gets you on that dance floor. I prefer small venues like the Echo, more intimate, with more character, edgier! Keep your eyes on their Events calendar!“

Rodeo Room Cocktail Bar • $

“My client who is of Hispanic descent wanted a quick drink, a chavela which consists of a beer with clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and lime. I had 4 shots of tequila of Don Julio. The service was good, the lady who helped us was attentive but if you like loud mexican music like banda, this is the place for you. The ambiance is very interesting. As soon as you walk in, you transport to a Mexican cantina in Mexico. It's very dark in here but the vibes is great and we enjoyed our drinks. There is a pool table in the back of this dive bar. The people here were very chill and had good energy. There is no parking lot here so you have to park on the street. Cool experience, check it out and be open-minded!“
