“Delicious cheesecake and lovely store! Unique sour cream layer which balances out the cheesecake layer perfectly. So so good. Don't just take it from me, multiple local high-end restaurants serve Namesake Cheesecake, so obviously this is the real deal! The store is a great place to buy gifts for others (and to treat yourself!) - beautiful alpaca shawls and blankets, olive oil, jewelry from local artisans. Cherith the owner is the sweetest most welcoming and friendly person. Support local business! This one is a total gem. Check the hours before you stop in. The man behind the counter was very nice and offered assistance if I needed anything. After looking around at the options, I decided to get the gluten free blueberry muffin. “One of the best carrot cakes I've had. Moist cake with just the right amount of spices, nuts and carrot flavor. The cream cheese frosting gives it the sweet and slightly sour flavor to balance the nutty cake flavor. The red velvet cake had the same moist cake with the thick cream cheese frosting. Both kept well in the fridge even after 24 hours and both retained the same texture and flavor. The displays were quite inviting. This location is surrounded by restaurants which makes it convenient to find something sweet after having lunch or dinner. The staff were nice. Reasonable price especially if comparing the size and price of their cake slices to restaurants in the surrounding area.“

Complimentary freshly baked bread. Free mud pie (ice cream cake) dessert for the birthday boy. Both of our steaks were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The veggies were still crisp, and the garlic mashed potatoes were to die for. Their Ceasar salad was perfect with crisp romaine, perfect dressing and cheese ratio, anchovies, and crunchy (not hard) croutons. Lastly, their drinks were so good we had to get another round. “Antoine's Cookie Shop is hands down one of the best cookie destinations in the Bay Area! From the moment you arrive, you'll likely encounter a line - but trust me, it's absolutely worth the wait. I've tried numerous flavors here, and each one has left me thoroughly impressed. However, there's something truly special about their original chocolate chip. It's incredibly buttery, bursting with flavor, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. One bite and you'll understand why people keep coming back for more. Now, let's talk about the price. Yes, cookies here can add up, but let me tell you, the taste is simply unbeatable. You're not just paying for a cookie; you're investing in a culinary experience that will leave your taste buds dancing with delight. The workers here are quick, efficient, and always ready with a warm smile, ensuring that your visit is as pleasant as can be. Despite its smaller size, the shop is cozy and inviting, with the added bonus of a microwave to warm up those delectable treats - because who can resist a warm, gooey cookie? In conclusion, if you're a cookie enthusiast seeking an unforgettable indulgence, look no further than Antoine's Cookie Shop. With exceptional flavors, efficient service, and a cozy atmosphere, it's a true gem in the heart of the Bay Area.“

“What should I do in Japanese restaurant while some americans are talking too loud?In a situation where fellow diners are being too loud in a restaurant, it's generally best to handle it with tact and politeness. Here are a few steps you could consider:1. **Self-assessment**: First, check if their volume is indeed excessively loud or if it's a normal conversation level for a public place.[I put the earplug on to protect my hearing.]2. **Move Away**: If possible, ask the restaurant staff if you can move to a quieter table.[This is a small place.]3. **Communicate with the Staff**: If moving isn't an option, you might consider speaking to the restaurant staff or management. They are usually trained to handle such situations diplomatically.[Staff is busy and understaffed even for bringing dishes to the side of our desk.]4. **Direct but Polite Approach**: If you feel comfortable, you could approach the individuals directly. Do so politely and calmly, expressing that their conversation volume is a bit high and is disturbing your dining experience.[Some of them speaks Chinese but they just pretend to ignore our complaints. ]Remember, every situation is different and requires a judgement call. It's important to stay respectful and considerate in your approach.[I am wondering what else I can do to deal with this situation?]“

“I’ve been gluten free for 15 years, and it has been rough. But I have made the most of it by searching for gluten free treats everywhere I go. I’ve had gluten free pastries in dozens of cities including London, Florence, Madrid, Sacramento, Lahaina, and Austin. Other than the now shuttered Helmut Newcake in Paris, Sweet Diplomacy is my favorite of all time (and only 20 minutes away!). If you have tried baking gluten free you know pastry (choux, puff, flakey) is really hard to do. This place gets pastry and cakes as close to wheat flour as it gets. I enjoy all of the offerings but I’m most impressed by the pastry. The cream puffs OMG. And today I tried the tiramisu for the first time (it knocked my socks off). The coffee is excellent, and I love their cupcake varieties and cookies but my stomach is only so big.I personally do not reach for the vegan offerings but this is because I don’t need to (give me butter!!). If you have restrictions they have nut free and vegan options.I’m super impressed by this, especially knowing the difficulty of GF baking.Dietary restrictions: 100% Gluten free. Vegan options. “O'Sushi in Newark has always held a special place in my heart when it comes to sushi delights. The range of flavors and the meticulous presentation always lure me in. Among their expansive menu, two rolls stand out for me: the Seattle Roll, packed with rich, cooked salmon complemented by creamy avocado, and the M&M roll. The latter, adorned with spicy mayo, adds that fiery touch that gives each bite an unforgettable zest. However, the experience goes beyond just the food. Like many others, I've faced challenges that deter me from a complete dine-in experience. The last time I decided to visit, I was met with the sad sight of homeless individuals seeking refuge near the entrance. Such a scene tugs at one's heartstrings, making one wish for better facilities and care for them in the city of Newark.Parking, another concern, often turns out to be a mini adventure. The limited spaces in their lot force me to park farther away, adding a bit of a walk to the experience. While the food remains unparalleled, I genuinely hope that Newark takes steps to improve the overall ambiance around businesses, ensuring comfort for all its residents and visitors.“

Everybody got their own version, I got the Lamb Hot Pot, my wife got Japanese Miso, the celebrant got All Vegetarian, a couple shared Curry Beef, the celebrants husband got Beef Sacha and our last friend got Seafood Lobster Pot. The serving is generous and very good tasting hot pot soups, lots of vegetables and condiments. Very good for a winter December dinner. Everybody enjoyed their dinner and had an excellent dinner experience. Will visit again given a chance.Vegetarian options: There is an All Vegetarian hot pot soup that every vegetarian would appreciate and enjoy.“

“Our experience here was wonderful! Excellent food, the most delicious and addictive bread service, and amazing service. The waiters and bus boys were very kind and accommodating. This is the type of service I expect from restaurants, that I don’t see often in the Bay Area, but this was a great experience and we will be back! Special thanks to Will, he was great.“

“We have ordered dinner the for pickup before, but yesterday was the first time we sat down and ate there. It was about 5:15 pm when we got there and it wasn't crowded at all. We were greeted and directed to sit wherever we liked. Our server came immediately, greeted us and took our drink order. We appreciated the quick and attentive service we received. For this visit I ordered the Oriecchette with sausage, make and pine nuts. I was expecting a lot of flavor from it, but it tasted bland to me to where I needed to add salt. My family members ordered a large lasagna, a personal pizza and a small pizza. They enjoyed their meal. We also had garlic bread sticks which are pan fried. We all enjoyed that. Next time I go I will probably try their pizza instead of their entrees.“

“My first time here and I always wanted to try it. I finally had the opportunity and it was great! It’s located in a tiny lot, surrounded by 7-11 and zen noodle (which is great too, if you want to try them). There was plenty of parking when we went. The restaurant was clean, they had a lot of seating and I thought it was pretty spacious inside for their size. The restaurant has bar stools, a few seats outside, and tables inside. There is a large menu above and 2 tablets to place your order. The employees were busy making food. We took a while to order because there were so many good options. We finally ordered two flavors of onigilly, to try: one miso nasu which is fried eggplant with miso sesame and green onion, and hijiki which is braised seaweed, carrot, tofu and edamame. I got a salad bowl with mixed greens, seaweed, red cabbage, shredded carrot, edamame, and onion. It includes three proteins: I chose unagi, krab salad and spicy miso beef. My sister ordered a poke bowl: ahi tuna, mixed greens, seaweed, krab salad, cucumber, corn, shredded carrot and red cabbage. We both chose the sesame dressing, however, we didn’t use it. There was so much flavor in our bowls already that it really didn’t need it. Everything was delicious and so flavorful. Definitely worth it and I can’t wait to come back and try other items.Vegetarian options: Poke, rice, tofu and salad bowls, eggplant, and so much more.Parking: Tiny lot shared with other businesses.Kid-friendliness: Brought my 2.5yo niece just for take out but it is family friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs, or steps, so you can easily access the restaurant. There is also accessible parking.“

“Really cute & chic bakery with delicious pastries. The store is really spacious -- you can order your coffee & pastries for take out but there's also a whole section of the restaurant where you can sit down and eat as well. I really enjoyed the flat croissant. For me, it's the best part of the croissant -- the crispiness and flakiness of a croissant. The strawberry glaze and freeze-dried strawberries also added a nice touch. Would come back just for this. The almond croissant was pretty good but not amazing. The croissant itself was flaky and fluffy. The filling was good but personally thought there was too much filling so that's all you taste in eat bite. It's a little too overpowering and felt like I was mainly just eating that. 100% have to heat it up before eating -- otherwise, it tastes very mid. Overall, their desserts & pastries are yummy but don't think it's worth the drive here if you don't live in the area.“

Little Sky Bakery | Los Altos Bakery •
170 State St, Los Altos - 6.19 miles

“FANTASTIC, solid baked goods.Portions/sizes of every baked item are generous & fillings are hearty - even the vegan ones too!Got the chicken, pork + shrimp, & mushroom + tofu mandos - which are like if a pizza had a baby with a baozi or dumpling (hearty dumpling/Bao meat or veggie filling wrapped & baked in pizza like dough), Nutella challah, cinnamon raisin swirls, chocolate chip + nut + apricot cookies, & trying out the peanut butter raisin cookie.I should also help clarify: the tofu+ mushroom mando also has kale!! Or maybe it’s swisschard - but either way, this is like a trifecta for me coz it conveniently bundles 3 food groups (protein, carb, + veggie) in a nice hand-held lunch portion for me.Plus everything here tastes SO good! But a couple of tips- they have a location in Menlo Park near the train station as a pop-up stand that opens & closes earlier than this brick & mortar site but usually seems to have more items. However, I think I personally prefer this site more coz:1) here u can get ur baked goods toasted (tastes sooo good heated up vs room temp in my opinion)2) parking is free here in the parking lot vs free parking in Menlo Park seems more limited3) actually this is the most important one for me since I tend to have a more sensitive stomach - this Los Altos Little Sky Branch takes food storage conditions seriously & properly, which I’m very grateful for. They follow the local food codes carefully & store their surplus mandos in the fridge/cooler & rotate out their mandos on display periodically. I confess I was a bit disheartened when I went to the Menlo Park location today & learned + saw all dozens of the mandos (including the shrimp + pork ones) were sitting outside from Sunday opening time/8 am - 12:50 pm, which I found odd since the 1st time I went to the Menlo Park location, they also regularly rotated out display Mondos & kept the rest in a cooler. Needless to say, since I love Little Sky Bakery’s stuff enough to buy in bulk & freeze (I discovered just about everything can be stored in the freezer for a long shelf life) - I didn’t feel it would be safe to buy the Menlo Park location’s meat-filled baked goods or at least the ones w/ seafood left out for that long to eat or freeze a bulk down to eat later … so I drove the extra miles to their Los Altos location (which had less mandos available) & bought as many mondos left as I could since I felt more reassured knowing they followed strict food storage temperature conditions & codes. The Los Altos location associates there are also super lovely & kind - knowing of my sensitive gut condition, they know my preferences & will usually pull the chilled mandos for me over the room temp ones whenever possible.“
