“Don't get me wrong, this was a good place to eat, even without a sweeping 5 stars. The location is pretty out of the way compared to a city, but was close to the job we were on. The client that took us there was familiar with the menu and was known to the waitress. The menu had all the usual entrees, so I picked some enchiladas to be safe. They were delicious. I think I'd you're in the area this would be a good choice for a meal. I would recommend it and I would return.“

“First time here. Got a Rusa and a strawberry crepe. The Rusa is delicious. There is so much packed into one thing (pineapple, mango, orange, tamarindo straw, chammoy, tajin and squirt, and it is so delicious. Tart, sweet, sour, and most importantly, refreshing. The crepe was soft and warm. Freshly made, too. Next time i go, I'll definitely try the ice cream. They have so many flavors to choose from. The staff were very polite and attentive. I'm coming back for sure and you should go too.Bonus points: 2 pictures of Sonic the Hedgehog on the wall.“

The beans were flecked with tiny charred pieces of carne asada and bits of cotija topped the delicious piping hot rice.I've been dreaming about how to get back there again this week...seriously!Great value, super fresh and spicy pickled jalapeños and carrots kicked it up a notch.Total was $13 and some change.Tiny parking lot shared with the Mercado so get there early as there's only 2 tables on the patio;)“

“Amazing food. Tortillas are served warm, which was such a pleasant surprise. We ate vegetarian dishes. Food was very tasty and enough quantity. The best was agua fresca ( pineapple), which everybody (kids and 2 of us) liked. The price is pretty cheap for the quality they offer. There was music on and a vendor visited us all with colorful trinkets to sell - best atmosphere I would say :) Local gem I would say.Vegetarian options: We have dietary restriction. We could tell that the chef and waiter were clearly trying their best to please us. I can't ask for more than that. Obviously the food was very tasty.“

Soleska Market Mexican • $

“Small, independent, clean Hispanic grocery with taqueria. Stumbled in here because one of my projects is close by. First time I came in here was for some shrimp pico de gallo. It wasn't bad but just not living to the hype. The shrimps were hard. Cooked not raw. Maybe that's why. But I decided to try the taqueria in the back finally. I asked for a chicken egg burrito no rice and beans. Damn glad I did. They were sketch at first but I asked if they can do it or not. Their answer was in the burrito. Damn, they added pico, tomatillo sauce, sour cream and guacamole. That burrito was not only juicy it was delicious and screaming "Eat me! Eat me!" Sound familiar? Inside joke. Anyhow, I want to add this place is clean, organized and well stocked with all your Hispanic goodies. They have chicharonnes which I will have to try with their fresh guacamole next. Good eats folks!“

“When I used to work in RWC I ate at their original location just outside of downtown. They've opened a second locale in Menlo and has been quietly opened for a year and I hadnt realized it. Especially because it is in the same strip mall as one of my fave Mexican places, El Fogon, which strangely had an Atherton Mom and her teenage daughter going to. this would never happen pre covid. Speaking of when they opened apparently most folks wanted the original location which is more Panaderia than Restaurant back then to have a bar. So they built this one with a nice bar and now post covid the demand for a bar isnt as strong. I hope that changes because I think their food is quite good. Also this locale brings in the bakery products from the other location so it is a small case. I had a conversation with a server a while back at a sushi restaurant of all places and found out they were from Guatemala. We got to talking about where all the Guatemlan food was and they said El Pollo Campero was basically the only one around. So when I told them about the original location of Guatemalteca we googled it and this one showed up. So during my errands I met a friend here for a meal. We had to go for the stuff we'd never heard of and that paid dividends. The Hilachas is a beef stew that texturally like ropa vieja with the protein being beef being in a thick gravy like stew of tomato and other aromatics. This was served with a salad, pureed black beans and rice. The churrasco was grilled beef similar to carne asada but spiced differently. it had similar components to the Hilachas but also came with a chili and some crema. We also got a Gutemalan Tamal of pork to share and they included the last of their Gutemalan style chile relleno which is smaller but amazingly tasty. The bonus here are the hand made tortillas! Food was a big win and since you're surrounded in a neighborhood of great Mexican food, Id stick to the Gutemalan fare to broaden your horizons. THe brother and sister which run this locale speak really good ENglish but they still helped me practice my Spanish which was nice. A great new add to the neighborhood and now it's going to be hard because I have to choose this or EL Fogon in the same block“

Michoacan Produce Market Mexican • $$
3380 Middlefield Rd, Menlo Park

“I went to an out of office meeting for work and the team for that location bought grilled chicken from Michocan Produce Market. It was absolutely delicious. Their order also included rice and beans, a side of hot sauce and tortillas. Love the side of hot sauce it comes with. For those that do not like spicy, since the hot sauce is included inside a container on the side, you will have the option of not putting it on your food. The beans had a jalapeño which made the beans taste even better. Weeks later after that meeting I kept thinking about the chicken and how I would like to buy it for myself.to share with friends and family. I asked where they had bought the chicken. It seemed like this is a place where people know how to find it but they can't remember the name and to top it off they have a hard time explaining where it is located. Eventually after some google searches and reading the reviews, I narrowed it down and figured it out. I bought a grilled whole chicken that they chopped into pieces. I also ordered the rice and beans and the order included tortillas and the hot sauce. Four of us ate and it was all under $30. My co-workers enjoyed it and one co-worker, who is very picky, was very pleased with the food, so much so, that one day he bought some for the office as well. Each time we have gone to this place, the people who work there have been very nice. They are also fast; It takes no time for the food order to come out. Also I want you to mention you could just order the chicken without ordering the rice and beans. If you do that I believe the cost is $20. I would like to add that I had their chicken before I knew it was popular in this neck of the woods, so I had no prior expectations. I don't know why it is so good. I think it is how or what they marinate it in and also how they grill it. It is a no frills grilled chicken, but very tasty nonetheless. And the pricing is still economical. Even though I find it very tasty and by the reviews, many other people feel the same as well, what I could see happening is that someone who tries it after reading the reviews, might have much higher expectations after reading several of the positive reviews. Then when they try it, they might not think it is as good as what they built it up in their mind because they set their expectations very high based on the reviews. It's like when you watch a movie that got rave reviews, then when you watch it, you wonder what the hype is all about. The store has this very hole in the wall feel. A mom and pop shop for sure. Depending on the time you go to this place the parking can be tricky because the parking lot is small.. It's dark inside the store. Definitely no frills, but it has a very authentic feel. It's definitely not a fancy place, but having said that, I think that's the vibe that gives this store its appeal. I don't know if the produce and other products are a good price since I only go there for the chicken. Although this seems to be a store frequented by locals that live nearby, I think their grilled chicken( pollo asado) puts them on the map with other customers that otherwise would not visit this store. I know that my teammates and I will crave their grilled chicken again so I know we will be back.“

Guapa's Mexican Grill Mexican •
515 El Camino Real suite 110, Menlo Park

“Went for Lunch Food - 4/5. The crunch wrap was folded well to make every item form into layers. Rice was fluffy and seasoned well, the beans were creamy, and the carne asada was pretty tender. The tortilla in the center added some crunch, but only for the few bites it covered. Service - 4/5. Friendly and quick service. Line moved fast without feeling rushed. Value - 4/5. Every item is $15 which is on the expensive side for fast casual. Food and portions were fine but the higher price point without any options for a smaller item gives me some hesitancy about returning. Parking - Mall Lot (Free)“
