“We have been going to Boba Box since it was still doing the soft opening. We drive about 15-20 mins just to come here. My family found a new boba place that actually accommodate everybody drinking favorite. I don’t have to drive to Rowland Heights for Half And Half then go to West Covina for BYOB and OneZo. “Loved my first experience at One Tea - Every sip of my tea was delicious, the staff were phenomenal, and I adore their space-themed decor! I stopped by on my way to my fave nail salon across the street and definitely intend to make this my pre-pedicure drink stop from now on.

They have quite a large menu with various teas, milk teas, coffees, matcha concoctions and other non-caffeine options. I was struggling a bit to choose but the lovely staff came to my rescue. He helped me select a tea base for my milk tea that would compliment the popping barley I was wanting and his recommendations were spot on!

I ended up going with the One Tea Signature Blend as a milk tea per his recommendation - it’s a combo of black tea, barley and cassia and had a lovely roasty flavor that perfectly complimented the popping barley. I also opted for a creme brulee top since I was in the mood for a sweet treat and it hit the spot!

Their popping barley is spectacular - it’s got pieces of soft, tasty roasted barley inside tiny pearls of sweet liquid. It’s a great chewy treat and pairs well with any of the more roasty type teas. I also opted for 50% sweetness and it was perfect. I love that they let you adjust the sugar and ice levels.

I had fun looking around their spacey shop while they made my tea! They have a galaxy paint job on the floors with starry lights in the ceilings and a really cool moon seat in the back that’s perfect for the Gram lol. Really fun decor and a great vibe - very conducive to hanging out and enjoying their delightful drinks.

Prices are on par for the area. Parking is free street parking and ample in the surrounding area but there’s also a free (albeit time-limited) lot across the street behind the businesses.

One Tea is an excellent addition to the milk tea scene here and I’m looking forward to enjoying the popping barley again with my next pedicure!“

“A decent boba spot in Pasadena. I always wished they had more toppings. But all their drinks are good and consistent. They have a really small parking lot with Afters IceCream. But there’s plenty of street parking all around. I usually get their fresh jaded green mountain tea with black and white boba. I like almost all their drinks and the aesthetic vibes of the cafe. But I wish there was a restroom and more space area to sit and enjoy the tea there.“

“After I was introduced to this boba store, no exaggeration, as people around me and store workers would know, I have been coming almost every day. I get the fruit tea (large) which is only $4. It’s so rare—I haven’t seen another store—that is as affordable and whose drink quality is still high. It feels like every coffee shop or boba shop is selling drinks for $7-10. Their drink is really good. I get 0 ice 0 sugar and it still tastes good (you know a tea place isn’t good if you get 0 sugar and then it tastes bitter/bad). Also with the 0 ice, I like that they aren’t just replacing the ice with water, but chilling more tea to top it off. They have internet, parking in back, and tables to study/do work.“

“Chapresso is a tiny boba tea shop in San Marino. They have breadth selection of fruit teas and milk tea boba. And it is the only tea shop in this upper middle class city. I came to grab a hot Jasmine Pekoe Green tea which is a high-quality tea leaves , often younger leaves with fine hair (pekoe). Its flavor was smooth, mellow, slightly sweet, with fresh fruity undertones.

Prices were fair. Staff and service were cordial and on spot, respectively. Indoor and outdoor seats were very limited.

Overall, I liked my tea at Chapresso. I highly recommend them.“

“Came here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. And ordering was very easy since you do it through a QR code but you can also ask for a menu and order that way as well. Food came within 10 to 15 minutes and everything was very hot and fresh. The meat pies were really hot and filled with yummy juices. The scallion pancakes were very very yummy. I highly recommend getting the cucumbers. Service was decent but don't be expecting conversations from these ladies. They bring you your food and that's about it. “Not sure if that was a tea place for me. Firstly, it was really sweet. Even though you can choose your own preference of sweetness ( I chose 50%) my tea tasted overly sweet. I got the fruit tea. A different and distinct flavor from other fruit teas I’ve had. Both drinks tasted heavy on sweetness despite the level being 50% and other 25% . However, I would give this place another try since the flavors were distinct and the place was neat and clean.

It is a self serve and not to hang out tea place. So just order and go.“

“Recommended to us by a local restaurant owner, we took a drive over to try them out. They have an amazing fresh fruit selection (including persimmon, which I hadn’t seen before) like strawberry and watermelon (which is one of my favorites).

We like them so much we’ve made the 20 minute drive several times already during our short stay. The drinks seem to run a little sweet so I make the less sugar option. They seem to automatically add a jelly to the drink (at least the several we’ve ordered).

I think the best Asian compliment you can get for dessert is the “not so sweet,” from your aunties, and this was definitely what it was giving.

The sweetest drink by far was the Mango Mochi which was served as a slush. It was super refreshing and a good pick me up drink for a hot day.

The tea lattes were also very good and are definitely a good option for less sweet items. My personal favorite between the lattes had to be the peach latte which was super refreshing and a good study drink!

Environment is also a good place to study and chill at, but definitely on the smaller side 📚🙇‍♀️📖

South El Monte is also home to a lot of Taiwanese boba supplies companies and import so that makes people who start boba shop businesses in the South El Monte an easy access to the materials and that makes it all thrive. “Ming Cha is such a cozy cute cafe with lots of cute decor. The cafe is small but has some seating area and some board games to play with as well. “This place got some new drinks. So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. I got their new choco strawberry frosty and strawberry Hokkaido milk tea to try. The frosty had an icy, rich, deeply chocolatey base with a creamy, tangy, cheesey strawberry foam. Legit a desert drink. My fave was definitely the strawberry Hokkaido milk tea tho. Very floral, milky, and sweet, with plenty of jiggly strawberry jellies. Overall these were lowkey pretty good.
