“El Monte doesn’t have too many good boba spots, but Ono Tea House is a decent option. Prices here are a little lower than most places, which is nice.

The tea itself is just okay — not super strong — and the drinks can lean on the sweeter side. I usually order mine with 1/4 sugar since I don’t like them too sweet.

Overall, it’s not a spot I’d go out of my way for, but if you’re in El Monte and really craving boba, it does the job.“

South El Monte is also home to a lot of Taiwanese boba supplies companies and import so that makes people who start boba shop businesses in the South El Monte an easy access to the materials and that makes it all thrive. When I am not getting the 7Leaves down the street in South El Monte, I would come here to study Mandarin or work on software engineering projects remotely. I think South El Monte has a thriving community of Asian and boba drink lovers. Hello Boba adds another great addition to that one. Another great option is Boba Time which is also right down the same street. I love to get boba and then head to the King Taco place and drink boba with my taco.“

There are about 10+ other options for boba stores in South El Monte though this spot is one of the best for prices. It is affordable and give good deals, better than boba stores in cities like Monterey Park and Arcadia so people always come by and shop here.“

“Saw that they were running a promotion for 4 regular sized drinks for $16.50, so I stopped by since I haven't gotten 7 leaves in a long time. This location has a drive through and a dine-in, but the dine-in area looks small.

We didn't want to park so we ordered through the drive through. We got the Mungbean Milk Tea, Sea Salt Jasmine Tea, and the House Coffee. The drinks didn't take long to be ready and the entire drive through process went smoothly. The employees were also friendly and provided good service.

The mung bean milk tea was a bit too sweet for my taste even though I already asked for easy sweet. It still tasted sweet after the ice melted. I don't think I like this drink much anymore. For the sea salt jasmine tea, that was good since the sea salt foam goes well with the tea. The house coffee was just okay since my sister who ordered it isn't a super big fan of coffee.

I think this is a decent drink spot but their menu is a bit limited with not many options. I would rather visit a boba shop that is closer since I'm not really into the drinks here.“

“The food was really delicious I ordered the spicy beef chicken and shrimp spicy it was the bomb sweet and spicy the veggies cooked perfectly not overcooked like other places these still had a nice crunch and the egg rolls were really good love the sauce it came with never tasted anything like it ooh and the strawberry boba was really refreshing it helped a lot with the spicy food tho I wished I would of gotten another one or two definitely regret not coming here sooner“

“I really enjoyed the Vietnamese restaurant BMC Pho! I ordered pho #1 — the broth was rich and aromatic, the meat was perfectly cooked, with fresh herbs and a well-balanced flavor. The portion was large and filling, served hot and presented nicely. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and clean. You can tell they prepare authentic Vietnamese cuisine with care. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves real pho and quality Asian food.“

“We stopped by Hai Cha for boba tea after visiting the museum. The owner greeted us right away as we walked through the door. He's super friendly and he was very welcoming. We got Hai Cha special milk tea with boba. Waffle was boba. Yogurt smoothie and mango smoothie. The size of the smoothies were huge. We enjoyed our food.“

Here’s what I tried:

Osmantheous Oolong Milk Tea with Boba (less sugar, less ice): This was fantastic! The tea-forward flavor was exactly how I like my milk tea, and the boba had just the right texture—not too chewy and not overly sweet. I’d definitely order this again.

Strawberry Oolong Tea (less sugar, less ice): A little on the sweeter side for my taste, but still a great deal at just $2.99.

To my surprise, they were running a buy-two-get-one-free special during Christmas week! The third drink that was part of the promotion was an Iced Strawberry Matcha, which was quite sweet but still a nice addition to the experience.

“Surprisingly spacious inside! They do have a rear lot, but street parking is probably your best bet. It’s definitely more of a social hangout than a quiet study spot, but the layout works well. Despite the crowd, service was efficient, I had my two drinks in less than 10 minutes. The peach oolong was a pleasant surprise and better than expected.“

“A decent boba spot in Pasadena. I always wished they had more toppings. But all their drinks are good and consistent. They have a really small parking lot with Afters IceCream. But there’s plenty of street parking all around. I usually get their fresh jaded green mountain tea with black and white boba. I like almost all their drinks and the aesthetic vibes of the cafe. “After I was introduced to this boba store, no exaggeration, as people around me and store workers would know, I have been coming almost every day. I get the fruit tea (large) which is only $4. It’s so rare—I haven’t seen another store—that is as affordable and whose drink quality is still high. It feels like every coffee shop or boba shop is selling drinks for $7-10. Their drink is really good. I get 0 ice 0 sugar and it still tastes good (you know a tea place isn’t good if you get 0 sugar and then it tastes bitter/bad). Also with the 0 ice, I like that they aren’t just replacing the ice with water, but chilling more tea to top it off. They have internet, parking in back, and tables to study/do work.“

“Best Honey Green tea in all Southern CA. Actually, better than the ones in Taiwan. They spare no cost in using only the best quality tea and ingredients. Once you tried theirs, you can’t go to other places anymore. Many of their bread like the red bean bun is a must try and the birthday cakes are always freshly made daily and not too sweet. They also have full sheet part tray fruit cake that are cut into 96 slices, best for large parties or events. Highly underrated and a hidden gem!“

“I had a Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea with no ice and level 1 (of 5) sweetness. I really enjoy freshly brewed milk tea (freshly brewed after order is placed) compared to milk tea prepared with tea that was brewed well in advance, had been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long, and used only after the order is placed. “One of my favorite places for a boba drink. The shop has special events for arts and crafts, kpop fans, and holidays. I go for the delicious drinks. My faves are the orange milky way, sweet pink, and strawberry mochi. The Alaska sunset, honey lemon mint tea, and fruit tea are also very good. The service has always been great. I only wish they were open later. Sometimes my boba craving hits at 830pm and it's too late 😭“

“Tenju Tea House has solid tea. A plus is they offer loyalty stamp cards! I think the 10th drink is free. There is a kiosk if you want to pay by card/tap, but you can order with the cashier too.

I thought they used to be in the 99 Ranch plaza, but I guess they moved here behind Yoshinoya. The parking lot is more tight and annoying to find parking here.

I wanted to mention that I was in communication with Peggy about catering. She showed passion and attention to detail. We ended up not booking them, but she left such an impression that I have to share it! Go hire Tenju!

“Not sure if that was a tea place for me. Firstly, it was really sweet. Even though you can choose your own preference of sweetness ( I chose 50%) my tea tasted overly sweet. I got the fruit tea. A different and distinct flavor from other fruit teas I’ve had. Both drinks tasted heavy on sweetness despite the level being 50% and other 25% . However, I would give this place another try since the flavors were distinct and the place was neat and clean.

It is a self serve and not to hang out tea place. So just order and go.“

“Recommended to us by a local restaurant owner, we took a drive over to try them out. They have an amazing fresh fruit selection (including persimmon, which I hadn’t seen before) like strawberry and watermelon (which is one of my favorites).

We like them so much we’ve made the 20 minute drive several times already during our short stay. The drinks seem to run a little sweet so I make the less sugar option. They seem to automatically add a jelly to the drink (at least the several we’ve ordered).
