I had ordered four tacos: Masala Birria, Tinga Masala Chicken (by recommendation), Pibil Chicken, and the potato (Mexican potato substitution), along with a side of Mom's Beans and seasoned Cauliflower. I was nodding my head blissfully as I ate everything. The smell of spices and fresh cilantro, the taste of meaty beans and succulent poultry, and pickled onions were wildly satisfying. “Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. Only thing that was lackluster was the passion fruit gelato. Fun vibe, lots of seating, and great service!“

I had heard lots about this place, but due to them mostly being open on weekday nights, didn't have a chance to try them until yesterday afternoon.

I enjoyed the calming ambiance. Everything seemed randomly arranged, however it went well with the area.

The ice cream served here is very delicious and creamy, so if you like that type of style, you're better off coming here. I got the condensed milk and black sesame flavors with sprinkles, Gummy bears and mochi. Their mochi bin was nearly empty, and I discovered why when I ate my dessert. I mean, the other two toppings were also tasty and I'm glad I didn't do just mochi, but mochi had to be the best out of the three toppings I had.

“Favorite Sichuan restaurant in California! Definitely the most authentic Sichuan food I’ve ever had in the states (yes I’m from Sichuan so take my word for it lol)
We live in the Bay Area, but whenever we’re visiting LA, we go to this place because of the great taste.
We ordered rabbit, beef and beef. The portions were HUGE. Every dish was flavorful, and it’s amazing that they picked seasonal vegetables to complement the flavor of the meat in each dish. And the spiciness is really close to what I had back at home in Sichuan. The chengdu fried rice(this should be the name if I remember it correctly) is also very good, not oily at all.
The restaurant owner is also very nice and she told us the rabbit meat is fresh from the butcher shop everyday, which sets this restaurant apart from others. (Well, this is the only restaurants in the states that I have ever been to that serves rabbit on the menu, so I really appreciate that)

“I can’t believe how good this place is. When I moved to LA I thought there would be more options for gluten free and other allergen free options, but I haven’t really seen hardly any, especially on the east side. You can tell how intentional the menu is, nothing has been an afterthought. The owner's creativity with ingredients and flavor pairings are outstanding while still being familiar. Their versions of “scallops” and “fried calamari” taste better than the real thing which was very impressive. They have board games and fun mocktails too. Great multipurpose atmosphere for possible events, and the owners have great hospitality. Parking wasn’t a problem either.“

“I ordered Pop’s Trio that comes with each skewer of chicken, beef, and beef koobideh (luleh); white rice and lettuce salad with lemon vinaigrette; savory hummus; cucumber, tomato salad; grilled pepper; and a pita bread. All the vegetables were fresh, and the meat was seasoned well. My favorite one was beef koobideh.

The mobile ordering process was straightforward and convenient, but when I went there for pick-up, it was a bit confusing about which counter to go to for pick-up because there was no one at the cashier counter and apparently the area around the right side of the counter next to refrigerator when entering the restaurant had more space for customers to order and wait. Also, I didn't find the staff welcoming or approachable, but the person who cooked and gave me my pickup order was very warm and hospitable.

“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!“

“Just kind of wandered into this place. It was clean, and a good selection of breakfast and light lunch fare (sandwiches, salads, etc). I had the vegan sandwich that came with a side of mixed greens. Everything was super fresh, the tempeh was flavorful, I loved the creamy spread, and the sourdough was perfectly toasted. And not a bad price! You order at the front and they give you a number, and the food came out pretty quickly. The staff were super friendly. Not a huge space, but there several tables open at 12:45pm on a Monday. 1 hour parking on the street (they might also have a garage, but I parked on the street).“

“Thai Thyme is cozy Thai restaurant that specialize in authentic Thailand cuisine. It’s located in Monrovia. They have vast selection of food and drinks at a reasonable price. Interior looks charming with high ceiling and exposed brick. Atmosphere was relaxing.

We have walked passed by Thai Thyme for years but never hand a chance to check-in until tonight. Because it tends to be packed due to its popularity. Anyway, after we perused their menu; I ordered a Chicken Pad Won Sen, Spring Rolls, iced tea and water. The noodle was tasty, moist and flavorful albeit a bit salty. Similarly, spring rolls were delightful. Drinks were good.

Staff were very attentive, engaging and respectful. Prices were fair and competitive. Atmosphere was relaxing and has a good vibe. Overall, it’s a nice Thai spot in my favorite town of Monrovia. I recommend you visit.“

“This was our first time dining at Little Beast, and our meal and service were excellent.
We sat in the covered patio area and started with the beet salad with burrata on a bed of arugula that we shared. For a person who has disliked beets their entire life, I have been slowly working to try them more often. Surprisingly, I liked the salad a lot and would order it again.
For my main meal, I had the Porterhouse pork chop, which is the first time I ever had this cut, and it was quite good. It was tender and juicy. It was also a little undercooked close to the bone, but I suppose that is not unusual considering you wouldn't want it to be dry and tough from overcooking. They were very kind to substitute any gluten items I couldn't eat for another non-gluten item. Because of this, I was able to try the kimchi rice cake, and that thing is a craveable morsel. My husband had the grilled flat iron steak. It was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It came with chausser sauce, which is a rich dark sauce made with wine and mushrooms. It's so good I could drink it, lol.“

Great non-Mexico tacos! But so good. Crispy! Their burritos are fried so a little different. These old-school taco places are nostalgic and need to stay around. As far as execution though, I felt the sandwiches could have had a little more balance to them. I got Jeff’s special, and although tasty, it was more cheese than pastrami and quite oily. I don’t have a problem with getting messy but every other aspect of the sandwich was getting overshadowed by the cheese. Not enough kraut to punch and not enough pastrami to feel like a proper Reuben. Wanted to give them another shot so I got another, the turkey salad sandwich, but after a half it just tasted like a chill cheese frito. I believe in you guys and am sure there’s other delicious stuff on the menu!! I just think the sandwiches are a little out of balance and maybe the owner needs to go back in there and see if procedures/amounts are being followed.“
