“This is THE BEST winery in Murphys! My partner and I went to spend a weekend wine tasting up here and booked an afternoon. We had the entire place to ourselves (bc it was supposed to be closed and they opened just for us) and it was such an awesome experience. You can tell the family who owns this winery really cares about your experience here: the place is so colorful and decorated so beautifully, the wine is delicious as are the snacks that they provided, and they took the time to talk to us about how and why it was founded, the artist who created the absolutely beautiful labels for their wines, their experience in this town, how they celebrate their culture in their lives and work, the work that they do helping survivors of SA, and so on. Not to mention that the wine was really delicious. Their son has so much experience in fermentation microbiology (and a PhD in microbiology) to add to their expertise. They do such a wonderful job of joining science and art, I can’t recommend this place enough. I highly recommend this place: five stars on all aspects. We came out feeling tipsy and full of wine and love for this winery.“
“We had a party of 18 ppl and we called last minute to see if they could accommodate us and they happily did so. We had such a great time and the wines were very nice. Nick was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the wines as well as funny; he gave us a good time. The atmosphere was also very clean, modern, and beautiful which made it even more enjoyable. Plus it was a chilly day but their patio heaters along with the wine kept us nice and warm.“
“I had rather accidently visited Ironstone Vineyards with my family years before, vowing to come back one day and give it the time it deserved. So I was thrilled when my couple booked me to photograph their wedding at Ironstone!
I would never have expected to find such a large venue in the charming but small community of Murphys. And yet this winery has emerged there as a concert venue, garden, tasting room--and quite importantly for my clients--a wedding venue.
Ironstone's varied spaces and lush gardens made the perfect spot for this intimate fall wedding. The bride and groom each had ready rooms that made it easy to relax and dress for the celebration. Meanwhile, a lengthy walkway covered by a trellis was a beautiful and unique choice for staging the wedding itself. And there were so many great opportunities for newlywed portraits in wooded areas, manicured park spaces along a pond, and even a covered bridge!
One particularly unique aspect of the wedding was hosting the reception in the barrel room: one part cavern, one part high ceilinged event space. The look was dim and romantic, the sound was wonderful, and the feel unforgettable.
The staff were also super helpful. They offered alternatives for where to host the ceremony when it appeared some rain might begin to fall. And another staffer shuttled the couple around on a golf cart to make life easier, allowing us to visit some of the more far-flung spaces on the grounds. It was clear they were invested in making this wedding a delight.
All that to say, as a I highly recommend Ironstone Vineyards for an entirely unique and picturesque wedding venue in Amador Wine Country!“
“After a few days of exploring the cool little town of Murphy’s and numerous wine tasting stops, we fell in love with La Folia Winery. The shop on Main Street is a fantastic spot for great wines, amazing people and a bunch of nice hats. Our hostess Shannon was fabulous and fun, made us feel right at home. “Ryan was such a wonderful guide through our wine tasting journey! So incredibly hospitable, kind, and attentive. Could not have asked for a better staff member to attend to us. It was quite busy that day but Ryan and the staff made us feel like the only clients in the building (or patio). I recommend everyone check out Hoveys, the atmosphere was impeccable and the layout has space for everyone and every size of group! Ryan was incredibly informative and really managed to give us a full history/ background of every wine we tasted!“

“We were in Murphy’s yesterday and a good friend that is very knowledgeable about wine and also a grower told us to stop and meet Gary and Sue and have a tasting. Unfortunately Gary or Sue was not available(probably crushing this years grapes to make more spectacular wine). However we met Jim and he treated us like long time friends, talked about the wines and very sociable. Every wine tasted was suburb and we ended up taking 6 bottles home to enjoy later. When we are back in the area we will definitely stop back in and hopefully meet Gary and Sue“
