OMG, Unbelievable sandwiches, smoked meats, homemade pickles, peppers🫑 and memorable pulled pork, etc. I hang out for a few minutes while Jerry makes my Cuban sandwich, and he has me try their smoked bacon, homemade meatballs, and more. “We’ve always been thin crust pizza fans, have never tasted authentic NY style pizza, though we have had Napoli-style pizza several times in Rome, and we gotta say, the crust here is AMAZING!! The only slight change that I think would make it taste even better is if there was a bit more salt in the dough. Other than that, the bottom of the pizza was crisp, and the crust was airy and crisp with a slight chew. The crust was so delicious that we saved all our uneaten crusts to bring home for later, could not bear to throw them away (unlike other, more bready crusts). 😆 The pepperoni pizza was our favorite (so flavorful), with the sausage being a close second. The margherita was nice with the fresh basil, but could have used a sprinkling of salt. Our younger son really wanted to try the corn pizza, but we could only manage to finish 3 pizzas with our family of 7, so he has already declared that this will be his pick for his birthday meal, and that he will be getting the corn pizza. 😆 Wish it were closer to us (we live around 30 mins away), but it is not too far for special occasions! From where we live, comparatively, Mountain Mike’s and Porky’s Pizza Palace would be rated 2 or 3 out of 10 and Spinning Dough would be 9/10! Would totally buy it frozen if they offered that, it is that good! Was also a treat for the kids to watch the owner (who is super, super nice!) toss the dough and assemble the pizzas. “I was looking for a salad somewhere other than Mixt and was directed here by a friend. Their salads are so good, full, fresh, and they're so flavorful you don't need much dressing at all. It was so good that I went back for lunch the very next day. I've only had their grilled chicken in a salad, but it's delicious and can be gluten free. Definitely worth the DoorDash delivery!!“

“This may seem weird to recommend for a salad place, but their wonton noodle soup that they only serve on Fridays is pretty good. Comes with plenty of shrimp and pork wontons in piping hot broth. Egg noodles are $2 extra but honestly not really needed. It's best to get it early since they make a limited batch.“

“I have been looking for an authetic New York Pizza in the East Bay for a while. Many have attempted, many have failed. But Bloom has come the closest I’ve seen — Cheese was excellent, sauce tasted right, and the crust was crispy. The only thing I have to say is that the dough is a little bland, so it’s a bit boring to eat the crusts. But all in all, a fantastic pizza. Would I pay the prices that they charge in New York? Not at all. It is a bit overpriced. Also, I wish pizza shops here would put out oregano alongside the red pepper flakes and parmesan. This would bring me great joy and back to NYC in my mind. I can tell they really are trying hard with their pizzas and have to give them immense credit for it.“

“Awesome to have a quick, clean, and tasty Indian restaurant in town. Pani puri, malai kofta, and garlic naan were all great. This is quick and easy North Indian fare. Service is exceptional and while busy, I didn’t have to wait for a table for 1. If you are looking for Indian food in Berkeley, this is a solid choice.“

“This place is exactly the spot you want to come to for lunch. The owner is super nice and you can tell it’s got regulars with how he greets everyone in the door. The menu itself is quite vast but he does a good job walking folks through it and running a tight ship.

Sandwich itself was quite tasty. I went for the brisket which was juicy and tender. Certainly will fill you up as well. I would love to come back to this place to try it again next time I’m in town.“

“Just dropped off Billy Whiteshoes Johnson at the Pinkley Crabapple Pavilion there on San Pablo where he'll go through his 3rd of the 4 stages of Vastomation, he'll then be a full fledged Clomperstaller with oak leaf clusters! The only one in California, wow! And, just a block is the restaurant, Plenty. They do breakfast better than anyone on the Avenue, so I justed walked over and had some Amazing 8 minute eggs. ☆☆☆☆☆“

“A great place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch before you shop around the area. Crepe pan has a lot of options so there are plenty of food for even the pickies eater. I tend to get overwhelmed if there are too many options however design of menu makes its visually appealing. I didn't even feel myself get overwhelmed because of it. Food size = big portion. Enough to likely share. Place is a cute spot for seniors to celebrate the Golden Girls. Atmosphere is therapeutic to study in (think of coffee shop background noise).“

The Alameda Roll has all of my favorites—salmon, tuna and unagi, plus snow crab! I asked for it spicy and they totally hit the spice mark. Very filling and very reasonably priced. RnR is a neighborhood gem and I’m very surprised that I hadn’t bothered to eat there before. It appears as a hole in the wall restaurant however, it totally delivers. “In all my travels, I look for what I call "happy food." Happy food for me is healthy, nutritious, tasty, nicely prepared, and served by smiling people in a clean environment. Oori exceeded all my happy food requirements and then took me for a ride through food blissfulness worth each bite. I had chicken teriyaki, grilled salmon, and spicy tuna triangles. On the side, I complimented it with miso soup and ginger. Each flavor was distinct and made my taste buds ooh, ahh, and wow for more. I'll be back here for more without question. “Small place, but the winners for me are the salads, the Cobb in particular. I get the small Cobb with blue cheese dressing mixed in, and it's a great lunch salad with plenty of protein to keep me satiated for a while without having extra carbs and for a good price. I like that their hardboiled eggs are never overcooked! I dont really like pizza(even though I've made thousands of pizzas at a few jobs), but my kids always get a small, and they love it. I've tried it before, and I do admit that they have a good pizza dough. The man that's always there is nice, respectful & quick.“

“What a great surprise! I would have never bought it based on looks since I usually prefer Neapolitan style pizza and yet it beat more expensive ones I've had in regular rotation lately. Their tomato sauce actually had flavor!!, they were not cheap with the cheese amount, and the crust was crispy yet not dry. This may become my new go-to.“

“I ordered the chicken noodle and tomato soup to be delivered. The soup was very good, but the bread was NOT sour dough as expected, it was a cut in half hoagie roll...yuk! This was a HUGE disappointment as I only eat sourdough or dark rye bread. Esp in the bay area where Sourdough is the go to. You need to serve what you say you have. This kind of stuff drives me crazy. It is as if the customer is not going to know...not good!“

“Barney’s is what it is. It’s a Bay Area institution. The burgers are reliably good. The sides are good, but also be aware that sides are separate. If you order a burger, fries, and a drink, you’ll be close or over $30. Not unreasonable for Piedmont Avenue, but I know plenty of people that are frustrated at the idea of buying fries on principle, so beware if that’s how you feel. Atmosphere is the worst part because 1. There’s often a faint stickiness to tables, 2. I’ve always seen at least one fly buzzing around (typically near the window seats), 3. Acoustics suck.“
