“Cute little restaurant. We ordered cucumber salad, bbq chicken set and bbq char siu set. Everything tastes so good. Very very high food quality. A lot of flavors. The spicy and numbing cucumber salad is the BEST I have had in the US. Not exaggerating.

It’s counter service and they have discounts for cash. Staff is very friendly. Great neighborhood restaurant for everyday eats. Would come back again when we are in Berkeley next time.“

“Came here with my partner; ordered the R&B Bibimbap and the fried wontons. Both were relatively OK! The bibimbap isn't spicy and didn't have a sauce (neither did the wontons), so don't expect that when ordering. The wontons were fresh and crunchy! Food was enough to share between two. But what impressed me even more than the food tonight was the thoughtfulness of the gentleman working. They closed at 11:30 pm (bless them for being the only vegan, organic food in the area open that late) and was cutting it close to get there before closing time. When I arrived 1 or 2 minutes after 11:30, I was worried that I had missed my opportunity and screwed up, but no - a thoughtful young man was literally standing in front of the restaurant with my order, waiting for me. He definitely didn’t have to do that - service is way above and beyond - 20/10! That wonderful young man saved me after I hadn’t eaten all day and couldn’t find anything vegan open late, I’m so grateful. <3

She gets the same thing every time: Catfish Sweet and Sour Soup and she swears it gets better every single time. On the other hand, I try something new every time because each dish I've had has been better than the last. Catfish Claypot, Pho, and Papaya Salad are all big hitters.“

“Always very nice coming here. I come here almost everytime I visit the mall. The thought of mall sushi might not be everyone's cup of tea, but don't knock it till you try it. The sushi is great. Not too much rice and avacado/tempura/cucumber have always been very fresh. The hot mamacita roll is a favorite of mine as well as theavacado roll and cucumber roll.

It is fairly affordable and lovely service from the owners. They always say hello to you when you come in, and also bye and thank you when you leave. Always happy to support a small business.“

“Cool place (love the decor/style), nice staff & tasty food. Some dishes you will not find in the average Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. For example, the chef or owner is from northern Thailand so the menu features a top Northern Thai dish - Kao Soi noodle soup (beef or chicken), or the all time fav 'street food' grilled pork skewers (moo ping) served with sticky rice (ck out the menu on their website). I had the Pad Kemao Chicken (menu says beef but they are happy to make dishes with what you like & even have Beyond Meat dishes on the menu - cool to see stir fried basil with Beyond Meat (Krapao Beyond Neur)). The taste of my wok fried pad kemao was delicious, same or better than any I've had on prior trips to Bangkok. Glad to have discovered a solid Thai restaurant that doesn't have watered down flavors. Good to see they have a lot of gluten free and vegan choices on the menu too. Definitely will be back, keep up the good work!“

“I absolutely love their garlic noodles! While its definitely heavy with the butter, its comforting, flavorful and delicious. Love the texture of the noodles and how its packed with tons of garlic. I enjoy the salt and pepper wings and the jambalaya fried rice. The crab fries are so delicious and have a nice hint of spice. This location was originally a Taco Bell, but I love the atmosphere there, friendly, good service and comforting food! It's a cozy place perfect for a cold wintry day to have your own little boiling hot pot of tasty broth and hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Hubby ordered the Lau Pork Bone Marrow and I had the Lau Oxtail. I ordered the Oxtail without the tripe, just more oxtail! The hot pot came out boiling with oxtail and beef balls. All I had to do was cook the egg noodles, taro, tofu, cabbage, veggies into the soup as there was plenty of delicious oxtail and meat balls in the delicious broth! Great for a bone chilling night! Next time I'd love to try the shaken beef!“

“Delicious and explosive flavor vegan hot pot. We got the spicy Sichuan Spicy and Mushroom broths. For the veggies, we bought Fried Beancurd Rolls, Fried Tofu Pods, Pumpkin, Broccoli, Bamboo Shoots. For noodles we had Udon and House Ramen which were both quite tasty. They have a self service sauce bar as well where you get whatever add ins you may need for your broth or extras.

The atmosphere was definitely busy as there were lots of guests but everyone seemed to be getting their food quickly.

Pricing is a bit more on the higher side so be expecting that, but it's definitely worth it!

“I was hesitant to come back after I had a bad experience a year ago before they rebranded; which a lot of the older reviews reflect. VERY happy to say that they've improved significantly, I got the five spice chicken with an iced coffee and both are fantastic. Meat tastes great and the bread is perfect. “Asaka is a friendly neighborhood sushi bar and Japanese restaurant and I enjoyed dinner very much. They were extremely polite and courteous, very good service and food is served quickly.

The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a charming feel to it. Not overly modernized yet a modern feel. Yet also a cozy sushi bar feel. Well done!

Three of us had a couple bento boxes and a nigiri and sashimi combo. Dinner requires three item bento, and the tempura was the star. Nicely battered and fried just right. Chicken teriyaki was chicken teriyaki, if you know what I mean. The California rolls were good… they go the extra mile and mince the imitation crab as opposed to some places that just slice a little chunk. And the spicy tuna roll was not really spicy but tasty enough.

The sashimi and nigiri were very fresh and decently portioned. I prefer smaller and higher quality, which is what they served. They could go a little hotter on the wasabi. Theirs was mild.

And of course miso soup and salad with that sesame dressing I love. Fun meal, great place.“

While the broth and rare steak were satisfying, I realized the portion of noodles was already quite generous without the extra. If you’re someone with a hearty appetite, you’ll likely find the regular portion sufficient.

Next time, I’ll skip the extra noodles and focus on the base dish. It’s a solid spot for a comforting bowl of pho, but I’d still rank it below my go-to pho spot in Palo Alto.“
