“Visited my first time Sunday 5-25-25 for their brunch special and had a wonderful time.
The seating is outside under shade with plenty of elbow room.
The staff were all super friendly. Plenty of parking. The restrooms were clean.
I tried several wines that all tasted great and bought a bottle of my favorite to take home.
They usually have different food trucks and musicians.
Highly suggest you check them out. I’ll definitely return.“
“I just had my 21st birthday tasting there and it was FABULOUS! The staff were so kind and welcoming, and they gave me a room in the back to store my cake, extra food, and decorations. It was such a beautiful winery and I had the best time! Definitely recommend this place to anyone with a large party in mind (I had 12 people) because they are super accommodating and allow you to bring in food and decorations.“
“We came here for a quick tasting and were shocked at how accommodating and pleasant the experience was! Rob and Chuck both stopped by our table a number of times with wines and to answer our questions. We chose to add the charcuterie board to our tasting and it was so delicious. The tasting room is so elegant and beautifully designed, which made for a very fun time. We were fully satisfied and will be back again soon!“
“Personally I haven't tasted the wines but I was there with my group, the owners who do the tastings themselves are very friendly and enthusiastic, you can feel their passion in their way of explaining things.
Since I didn't drink they offered me a rose lemonade, it's a little extra but for me it makes a difference.

“I asked a very prominent Edna Valley grape farmer who the next up-and-coming wine maker in Edna Valley was, and he pointed me to El Lugar and their wine maker Coby Parker-Garcia. I dropped by their tasting room next to Ancient Owl and was absolutely blown away by the quality of their wines - the best tasting I’ve done on the Central Coast perhaps ever. They are very Pinot Noir heavy, which isn’t even one of my favorite varietals, but the artful skill of the winemaker shines through. I didn’t have a single wine I disliked, but their Pinot from Bien Naciedo stood out as an utterly flawless wine. How it doesn’t earn a 98–100 point score from wine critics is beyond me. That said, my personal favorite was their Pinot from Bassi Vineyard near Avila Beach. There was a very interesting cayenne note in there that made the wine really exciting and, lucky for me and my pocketbook, was one of the cheaper wines they sell. I don’t think you can go wrong here. The only error you can make is not coming paying this hidden gem a visit. I see a bright future for Coby and El Lugar.“

“My boyfriend and I visited here on our anniversary from out east, what a gem this place was! The owner was incredibly friendly and informative. The grounds were beautiful, the wine was delicious (two of which were grown at their vineyard down the road) and their pastries were unreal. Great upscale country vibe with good pricing, can’t beat it!“

Tim greeted us at the door and took care of us during our visit. I can not express enough how amazing Tim was.

“Mike (the winemaker) and his family hosted use for an adventure down the Riesling path and showed us how different it could be from vineyard to vineyard. From slightly sweet, to minerally, to dry. All excellent wines. He through in a German Gruner Veltliner which was excellent. It was paired with some charcuterie and great conversation. If you like the personal experience, this is it.“

“Such a great place with great wines right in the Arroyo Grande Village. Totally worth going to for an extraordinary flight of wine tasting or a glass of wine from their by-the-glass menu while enjoying the cozy outdoor patio. The tasting manager Denise is super friendly, knowledgeable about the wines and food pairings, and an absolute delight to talk with. Shout out to Joey and Bethany who, like Denise, welcomed us like we were old friends. Warm, hospitable, gracious, friendly staff all around, and the wines are a delight. Kudos to the winemaker who obviously knows how to make terrific wines. Go and bring your friends! Just wonderful.“

“Great little spot! I had a few hours in town to myself, and wanted to do a little wine tasting, and found this place by chance. The woman working this day was super nice and friendly, and the wine was great! Great place to sit outside, read a book and try some wine!“
“Kayden was a terrific host. She was warm and kind and filled with info. The setting was gorgeous and with all the lavender, we felt we were in Provence! It was on the expensive side, but we have no regrets. The charcuterie came in a plastic container but it was absolutely delicious and was more than it first appeared. Thank you Tolosa and Kayden❤️❤️“

Everything I tried here was delightful and I enjoyed the side by side style tasting!
For anyone familiar with the Judgement of Paris, the contest was repeated multiple times and their Rosemary’s Chardonnay took the top spot in 2002 if I remember correctly. Stunning! Do yourself a favor and come down with friends and family for a tasting!
I will be recommending to anyone I hear going down that way.

“While I can’t speak to how this place compares to other locations as I’m fairly new to the wine scene, this place has certainly set a standard that I will be gauging future outings to. My girlfriend and I stayed at Avila for our anniversary and decided to try out this location, and I’m glad we did. I unfortunately can not recall the name of the blonde woman who served us, but she made the visit a pleasant experience. From giving us detailed descriptions of the wines, to making sure our glasses were not empty for too long, and for sweetly giving us some extra samples to taste when she learned about our anniversary, she really did make our wine tasting a great one. I hope someday in the future we will be able to stop by again!“
