50 Best American Restaurants near Playa Del Rey

“I came across Playa Provisions when in town for business. It was a short Uber from the airport, so I figured I'd give it a try. This place is an absolute gem! It is a unique setup that has everything you'd possibly need from morning until late at night: Cafe in the front for coffee and fresh baked good, as well as full breakfast menu. Later in the heat of the afternoon, take a break from the beach (right across the street) and enjoy hand scooped specialty ice cream cones and shakes. Oh look, it's dinner time... and Playa Provisions opens their dining room and bar, some of the best, most relaxed ambience you'll find for miles around. But don't let the casual setting fool you, this is some incredible, elevated cuisine. Chef owners Nick and Brooke (who you might recognize) crafted a menu that's I've been eating my way through, and have yet to find a dish that's not delicious. You've been eating and drinking all day, and are exhausted? Don't leave yet! Wander into the back 'secret' whiskey bar, (Grain Whiskey Bar) and enjoy hand crafted cocktails from award winning bartenders (no, literally), in a gorgeous wood laden atmosphere. I consider myself a foodie, and try as many different restaurants and cuisines as I can. And yet, Playa Provisions remains my favorite restaurant in LA (and that's saying something, considering the amazing places in LA). Run, don't walk, to Playa Provisions. You'll thank me.“

“I have dined at Meteora many times before and it's usually been excellent however the night that we went, the timing of the courses was notably off and delayed. The couple next to us got there right before and another couple 2 tables down got there after us and they were both 2 entire courses ahead of us. The entire meal lasted 3 hours due to this. There was plenty of staff - we saw staff constantly circulating so I have no idea what happened. When I said something, they were apologetic and offered us more drinks on the house, which I did appreciate, however, I really wasn't planning on such a long dining experience and disliked that we were essentially forgotten for the first half of our time there.“

“We have been going to Horses ever since they opened since it’s right in our neighborhood. The most friendly staff with a big shout out to Amanda. The most amazing craft cocktails and absolutely delicious food. I think we’ve almost tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once. Can be hard to get a reservation, but we usually get there at 5:15 and are able to sit at the bar with no problem.“

While I have not been in person, Brandon - the manger was so kind and helped me send drinks to my friends on my behalf who were celebrating their marriage there. “The food here is so good! The portions are also huge, my partner and I only ate half of what we got pretty much and were able to have the leftovers for brunch the following day ?, and it still schmacked after being microwaved! 5/5.

Only thing that sucked was finding parking, but we’re not from town, so parking could just be normal for locals?

Overall, you gotta try this place. The Vicky’s Breakfast is well balanced, the Pastrami was cooked perfectly and the roasted tomato and herb salad pairs with it so well to cut through that fat. The mushrooms were a sleeper in that plate ?‍? it was delicious! The chicken and waffles were great too, batter was light and crispy.“

“The Great White Breakie was delicious, I loved the combination of goat cheese and sourdough. The folded eggs were also really good, especially with the bacon slices. Overall the flavors were really well balanced on this plate, and I enjoyed how you could mix & match the different ingredients to your taste. The Caesar Salad was very good, would recommend adding grilled chicken on the side. We also liked the coffee here, especially the Shaken Iced Latte!

Great food and great service too. The atmosphere is also very relaxed, perfect for brunch but I could also see this being a nice dinner place too.“

“If you’re going to the Academy Museum for a visit or a screening make sure to stop at Fanny’s (located inside the museum’s first floor) for a coffee, snack or meal. They have a cafe and restaurant, both offering quality food and beverages and a full bar. The restaurant has comfortable seating options and the cafe offers outdoor seating. The service is friendly and attentive. You’ll definitely have a great time and a good meal!“

“The Hammer is one of my favorite LA Museums, and I always love to stop in at Lulu’s for a bite to eat, the 3-course meal, or just a cappuccino (at the bar.) The food is inventive and delicious, featuring local produce. The courtyard setting is quiet, yet festive with the murmur of conversations below stringed lighting. Service is perfect.“

“It was such a lovely venture out for my Mom’s birthday, on Friday. Alex and Dominique (management) are quite lovely, and helped make our dining experience all the more, a joy! Love the new additions to the menu, particularly the Mini Steak French Dips. The Chicken Parmesan was excellent with the twist of those ‘pepper-like sweet’ tomatoes. “The menu are all small plates, delicious doesn’t matter what you order. The place was packed on a Monday night, a sign of good food and good service. The parking is $11 for dinner. In Los Angeles, this is very fair.“

Off rip, I knew it was gonna be bomb because my boyfriend actually has great taste and recommended it. I mean why would I date him otherwise? But I still had to be the one to taste it to believe it. Those biscuits put them on the MAP! I had lost faith in biscuits & gravy in this city. I have been let down time and time again because it was so weak. But these gave me hope for the future 🥹 I could see this place being my breakfast new normal. “Warm, hands on and personalized service. A Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant…Food Made from Scratch, fresh, unique, different, and affordable. Highly recommended! The red onion focaccia bread with herb and Parmesan butter, added Burrata - best- seller, a must. The 3 day brined smoked fried chicken-different taste, with soy and Chiles, a must!!!The Peruvian pork belly with sweet potato , Criolla and crispy quinoa , love it! And the Grilled NY steak with green garlic chimichurri, chorizo aioli and pommes pont neuf, thick cut fries…my son prefers over the fried chicken.“

The host allowed us to change our hi top reservation due to two of my guests being seasoned and fierce, of course. I greatly appreciated that! “The location of the restaurant is smack center of downtown GSU, a young and vibrant, busy little area reminiscent of a ‘baby Manhattan’ but with nicer people and eco-friendly eateries. The interior is aesthetically pleasing with a black and yellow color scheme throughout the establishment, coordinated seating areas for dining in, and simple yet impactful decor with the background story of Mr. Fries Man framed along the walls. The atmosphere was welcoming and extremely professional and the fries themselves were everything! I had the shrimp and steak fries and they were fresh and hot, the steak cut into perfect bite size bits, the shrimp cooked perfectly, and the sauce a delicate balance between sweet and savory to tie it altogether *chefs kiss*. Overall perfect restaurant choice for anyone but especially college students and young professionals who want a satisfyingly delicious, quality meal without breaking the bank.“

“What a great spot. If you live in a beach town most restaurants have an indoor outdoor vibe that is great but can be loud and chilly. This place is more like a European pub/restaurant with great food and a quiet vibe. Drinks are wonderful. Well priced for the area and the quality of the food. It's upstairs with no patio but warm and intimate. Great for a date or a table of four. I'll be back.“

“I ate here late on a Friday night, and the food was incredible! I got the Banger with tater tots, and everything was delicious. The tots are seasoned and come with a green chile sauce and ketchup. The sandwich was hot, cheesy, and so flavorful. I loved the crispy shallots! There are only 4 seats inside, so there might not be seating if you go at a busy time. The employees were all friendly and the overall atmosphere was bright and fun. This place is a gem!“

“Despite living just a few blocks away, this was our first time dining at Tar & Roses. I had heard nothing but rave reviews for years, and I can finally understand why. The menu options were incredible, the prices fair, great understanding of dietary restrictions, and honestly, just incredible flavor and quality all around.
