“As crazy as our Birthday party was, in the bar, our server, Jose, was awesome. There were 2 or 3 other large gatherings at the Marriott hotel, where Singer is, adjacent to the lobby. However, we felt completely cared for. I ordered the classic burger...I am a burger aficionado... It was awesome! I could say that I am ashamed of all the parmesan fries I ate, but nope, not sorry. They were awesome, as well. I don't know if it's a good or bad reality that this place is only a couple miles from my home because...Oh who am I kidding? “Walking into Old Lightning feels like stepping into Pablo Moix’s private whiskey collection—rare, curated, and full of bottles you’ve only seen in photos. Hidden behind Scopa, the bar features an incredible lineup of high-end spirits: single cask Springbanks, rare Willetts, unique Balvenies, and other bottles you’ll probably never see again. Prices are high (sometimes maybe a bit too high), but you're paying for access to some truly special stuff.

Inviting, energetic, and clearly passionate about what he does. “I stopped by Cast & Plow for breakfast while staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey.

The location is easily one of the highlights. The lady who greeted me was polite and welcoming and offered me a table outside overlooking the marina. Sitting by the water in the morning was incredibly peaceful and made for a great start to the day.

I ordered the Marina Breakfast for $37, which included juice, coffee, toast, two eggs made to order, a choice of pork or chicken sausage, and a small side of greens. My eggs were cooked exactly as requested, and everything else was well prepared and as expected. It’s certainly not an inexpensive breakfast, but you’re also paying for the setting and the overall hotel experience.

The only slight frustration was the beginning of the service. After being seated, it took about 10 minutes before my server came over to greet me. Once that happened, though, the service was attentive for the rest of the meal. He checked on me several times, refilled my coffee, and brought the check promptly when I was ready.

The table and patio area were clean, and it’s hard to beat having breakfast with a marina view on a quiet LA morning.

Overall, a very enjoyable breakfast with good food, attentive service after the initial wait, and an excellent waterfront setting. I would happily come back.“
