“Note: I only gave the food a 3-star because we didn't order anything and were provided with some complimentary chips and there was not a N/A option. I'm not a connoisseur of wines or spirits, but this speakeasy was extremely enjoyable. It is a great way to start or end a meal at Scopa and we enjoyed the experience immensely. The bartender was knowledgable, friendly, and conversational. We were there for almost two hours and it felt like 15 minutes. The ambiance was quiet yet exciting, and listening to the maitre de and bartender tell us about the history of the location, some of the spirits, and just general conversation made this unforgetable.“

“Great locals bar to visit. Friendly to randoms on both sides of the bar. Not an extensive liquor selection - ordering a negroni was a no-go. Shockingly excellent burger for being grilled indoors behind the bar. I heard a regular say they get their meat from the butcher shop next door. I'll definitely be back for another burger“

“El Carmen has a nice ambience with plenty of cool decor to look at as you wine and dine. They offer a wide selection of drinks and specialize in Mexican cuisine. Funny enough, my date was the only Mexican looking person there, despite the restaurant being full. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant and I’m not mad about that. I will say that the waiters gave me a bit of an attitude which I did not like, but they were good with water refills and checking in. The seats were not comfortable, but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. They had cool music, but it wasn’t even Hispanic haha. Overall, I had a good experience and recommend El Carmen.“

“Brought some friends there to watch playoff football and a ufc fight. Ended up having the best filet mignon of my life. So tender you could slice through it with the side of your fork. Had fresh oysters from Virginia, which I was told are only $2 on Tuesday or Wednesday (have to fact check here). And probably the best thing on the menu is the bacon wrapped plantains, not a lot of food, but every bite is heaven. Wife loved her fancy drinks, but I prefer scotch.“
