“After a day at Playa Del Rey beach, we walked over to The Shack for a quick dinner. The burgers were so good (even the kids agreed)! The pineapple burger and its teriyaki sauce was amazing. Will definitely be back!“

“This bar is awesome! We heard that it was the smallest bar in LA and expected to be greeted by regulars who resented our presence. We experienced the complete opposite. The bartender Pete immediately recognized my Midwest accent and engaged myself and my 2 adult children in conversation. The locals at the bar were also very engaging. Many reviews I have read described it as a dive. I completely disagree with that assessment. It is a local bar that is very welcoming to any patron. Keep in mind it is cash only! Looking forward to going back!“

“Brought some friends there to watch playoff football and a ufc fight. Ended up having the best filet mignon of my life. So tender you could slice through it with the side of your fork. Had fresh oysters from Virginia, which I was told are only $2 on Tuesday or Wednesday (have to fact check here). And probably the best thing on the menu is the bacon wrapped plantains, not a lot of food, but every bite is heaven. Wife loved her fancy drinks, but I prefer scotch.“

“My favorite place to hang in LA. The staff is super sweet, the food is fantastic, the drinks are amazing, particularly the Ginger Margarita, the atmosphere is gorgeous—whether you’re inside the stunning deco bar or outside on the beautiful patio. It’s a true gem.“

“Was told by a friend “total dive bar, but the experience is 80% why we go”. I have to say, he wasn’t wrong! The “dive bar” is like a second home to me as it’s kind of where we just grew up as kids. As places begin to modernize, the dive bar aspect slowly slips away.

Came here for some quick dinner and wasn’t disappointed. It was insanely busy!! The biggest downside during the busy time was the wait. Wait for drinks, wait for food… etc. However, staff did a pretty good job at trying to keep up with what they had to do.

Burger was $13 and came with a bag of chips. It was good food and hit the spot. Definitely a fun little place to visit… just maybe when it’s not so busy.“

The entire staff was so welcoming and went out of their way to make sure my husband was enjoying his birthday celebration. It was our first stay at the Maybourne. “El Carmen has a nice ambience with plenty of cool decor to look at as you wine and dine. They offer a wide selection of drinks and specialize in Mexican cuisine. Funny enough, my date was the only Mexican looking person there, despite the restaurant being full. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant and I’m not mad about that. I will say that the waiters gave me a bit of an attitude which I did not like, but they were good with water refills and checking in. The seats were not comfortable, but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. They had cool music, but it wasn’t even Hispanic haha. Overall, I had a good experience and recommend El Carmen.“

“Great little spot to eat food that you bought at the airport. Bartender is super friendly too! Just keep in mind you will be paying the price of a 6 pack or 10 pack for 1 beer (Coors Light) so to get more bang for your buck, order the Long Island iced tea or the 20 oz Space Dust IPA. :)“

We were a group of about 40 and from the very beginning, Liz made the entire process so easy and stress free. She was always available with quick replies to questions, flexible with any requests we had made, and genuinely excited to have us and was just wonderful. I got to meet Zach the night of the event and he was exactly the same way. They both understand hospitality and made us feel so welcome and taken care of. The staff that night made amazing drinks and the food was delicious. On top of that, the room itself is already a beautiful space, but when we walked in and saw it decked out in the holiday lights, we knew right away we made the perfect choice in Corner Door.
