“The BBQ ribs were straight up, slap yo mama in the face frickin good. I give the food at this place a rating of 9.9 out of 10, and I am very picky when it comes to food. From now on, I will be making trips across the bridge just for the BBQ. #MyNewFavoriteResturant#“

“Char Siu pork plate was decent but not phenomenal. I like the juiciness of the pork and a lil crunch on the skin. Decoration was cute, cucumber pickles were rotten/had a bit of foul smell. Not sure if it’s worth $23-24 after tax. I can easily get this dish at a Chinese restaurant or Chinatown for cheaper.
I also wish the eggplant salad had less sauce because the aroma of star anise or sth was too much for me.“

“Popped in for lunch to check out the newly opened H&T and loved it. The brisket was delicious with a side of Vaquero beans that packed plenty of flavor as well. I could see the bar is well stocked with a great selection of spirits as well as a bunch of quality local beers on tap. Points as well for having a quality N/A offering. I received fast and very friendly service. Looking fwd to visiting again soon and wish this new business the best of luck as it was obvious that plenty of heart & soul is invested at heads & tails.“

“Mashita Galbi Jjim, located on Polk Street in San Francisco, is a cozy Korean eatery known for its signature dish, the galbi jjim (braised short ribs). This dish, priced at $66, is a standout. It features tender short ribs served in a bubbling pot, accompanied by carrots, tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes), and a melted cheese topping caramelized with a blowtorch. It’s hearty and perfect for sharing, as one order easily feeds three to four people. The plump mandu (dumplings) are also recommended as a complementary side dish.
The atmosphere is informal, making it a great spot for casual dinners. However, the restaurant’s popularity can result in wait times, particularly during peak hours, such as evenings and weekends. Some patrons have noted slower service during busy periods but praised the staff's friendly demeanor despite being overwhelmed. The interior is compact but comfortable, with simple yet functional decor.
Mashita Galbi Jjim is praised for its authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. Other menu options include pork tonkatsu and beef plates, but the galbi jjim remains the star. For those seeking a satisfying, shareable meal with bold Korean flavors, this restaurant is a solid choice. If planning to visit during dinner hours, arriving early or expecting a wait is advised.
While some diners have commented on service challenges during peak times, the generous portions and flavorful dishes make it a must-visit for fans of Korean cuisine.“

“Excellent food! Even so good that we went back the next night for more!
We ordered brisket, hot links, ribs, and
potato salad the first night. All super good. Great flavor! Mild bbq sauce is really good. The next night we went back for brisket, chicken and Mac-n-cheese. Oh, and the cornbread is yummy!“

“This is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall place. The decor is bare bones, the place is old, but what they lack in atmosphere, they more than make up for in deliciousness.
I've been here a couple times and the food is consistently good. Always made fresh and pretty quick.
The food is fantastic and affordable. Not sure what else you'd want.“

“I recently had the Lau Lau…it was delicious. I need another one. I’ve been coming here for about six months now. I was a bit apprehensive due to the few complaints, so when I initially went I went in person. It’s a grease spoon hole in the wall and I love it. The Chinese food is good too. Always tastes fresh. Ordered my girls fries from here too. I almost ate them all, like y’all gotta share lol. Anyways, I gave a 5 stars. That’s rare for me. Staff is serious and nice. I appreciate their mood…no bs and good food. Keep up the good work Frannies. Thank you!!“
“Good food, great place for duck, Asian BBQ pork and BBQ ribs etc. Large amount of menu items. Their egg Foo young is amazing. Picture is their wonton and egg noodles with Peking duck pretty good. 11.00+ unfortunately, they haven’t allowed dine in since the start of the Covid pandemic. Prices have also raised $3.00 plus per item since then .“

“I had an amazing experience at this Hawaiian gem! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and the famous "aloha" spirit. The service was impeccable—attentive but never intrusive. The food was beyond incredible; the poke was so fresh it tasted like it came straight from the ocean, and the kalua pork was tender and packed with smoky goodness. The ambiance transported us to the islands, with soft ukulele music, tiki-inspired decor, and dim lighting that created a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. This place is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Hawaiian flavors!“

“Finally tried Jong Ga House for their AYCE Korean BBQ, and it was a delight! The variety of meats was impressive and perfectly seasoned. The sides complemented the BBQ well, especially the kimchi and pickled veggies. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our grills were always sizzling. The only downside was a slight wait time, but it was worth it! Highly recommend joining their waitlist while you’re heading to the restaurant.“

“Chicken katsu is Da Kind bra! I got their "Aloha BBQ combo" to go and she was nice enough to let me switch out the barbecue chicken for the katsu chicken and I'm so glad she did. So ono! And you get a Big heavy plate of food for your money!
Both the BBQ Beef and Kalbi short ribs tasted great but they were both a little bit fatty and just a little chewy, compared to when I used to get the same dishes at L&L (The standard of Hawaiian barbecue restaurants) back on Maui, where I lived for many years. I don't mind that because the flavor was delicious but maybe they just need to marinate them more or trim the fat off just a bit.
The most important thing I want everyone to know is that the katsu chicken was done to perfection! Perfectly cooked, still moist and with a delicious katsu sauce for dipping!
They also let me get a bit of extra rice instead of their two choices of steamed vegetables, that did not sound very appetizing. They really need to soak and steam all there vegetables in only ALOHA brand soy sauce if they want the correct Hawaiian flavored vegetables.
Their macaroni salad was ok / good but similar to what you might make it home.
I think they should go online and read about the secrets of Hawaiian style / L&L's macaroni salad.
"While the pasta is still hot, pour 2–3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar over it.
Toss the macaroni and vinegar together so that the vinegar coats all the pasta and season the pasta by adding salt to the water while cooking it.
Rinse the very finely diced onions in cold water to remove bitterness.
Add 6-7 tablespoons of milk to moisten the pasta.
Toss the pasta with the dressing while it's still warm so it absorbs the flavors.
Let the macaroni salad rest in the fridge for a few hours."
Etc.,etc., there's lots of great Hawaiian style macaroni salad recipes online.
And if they don't want to bother cutting up the finely diced onions they could always use onion powder or some other seasoning powder because it's quick and easy.
Because although their macaroni salad wasn't bad it didn't have enough extra special flavor and needed something like onion powder, more salt or a bit of milk to make it their own secret recipe extra delicious / better than home made, so that their customers crave it as much as they crave the meat and it keeps them coming back.
I know I'll be coming back for their delicious chicken katsu and I do hope they add some more flavorings to their macaroni salad that makes it more Hawaiian style.
I gave their service the highest marks because she allowed me to do one substitution on my combo meal and was very friendly, professional and polite.
I deducted points for the atmosphere because it didn't really look that welcoming to take a seat and eat your meals there. I was getting it to go so it didn't matter to me but their interior could use some work make it more welcoming to sit down. Maybe they're just trying to get everyone to get it to go but that doesn't work for everybody.
Parking in that area is terrible and you either have to circle to you find a spot or park a far distance away. If they have some solution for that they should reply so other people don't have to illegally park to get a great Hawaiian style meal.
I also found out that they care about what their customers think and that's worth some extra stars any day of the week!“

“Ordered Korean food for pick up while visiting a friend nearby, super homey good quality Korean food! We ordered food for 4 adults and 2 kids. We got a kimchi tofu and seafood tofu soup, chive pancake, mackerel, galbi, spicy pork, spicy chicken wings and regular chicken wings, we ordered more kimchi and rice, it also came with a lot of Banchan, and japchae for the kids. The order was easy to place online and we paid online for pick up. I missed the turn into the plaza but found street parking. The server was helpful and there was a small dining room inside. I would totally go back and order from there in the future if I’m feeling Korean food while Im in the area.“

“I drove from Vallejo to try this place and boy was I disappointed. starting with the 90$ meal, the meat was so dry I could not even eat it The pulled pork tasted like sawdust, the ribs were dry,and the brisket and tri tip are horrible. the potato salad was very loose, and the green beans were burnt, had I lived in the area I would have brought it all back. fix the issues word of mouth can truly hurt your business. because I am writing this review on multiple sights.“

“Visited in December 2024, looking for flaky fried taro dim sum.
When we inquired about the taro, we were told that they did have the dish. It was in the wrong form: steamed skin instead of fried with flaky edges
The steamed taro dumpling with ground meat is okay, not amazing. The right filling, but we wanted the fried ones.
We had just purchased multiple boxes of dim sum from 2 other shops so we didn't try anything else. Maybe next time.
Cash payment.“

“A little overpriced, but what isn't. The food is always good. Portions are hit or miss. I was full on my last visit, and I like that they have a low carb option. I've had the pork, beef, and chicken and it's all good. Need to try the seafood some time. Self serve water is always a nice touch.
Parking: Good luck finding parking.“

“Yes’s was recommended by a random security guard we asked while walking through Chinatown. The four of us were very happy with our meal. We ordered multiple dishes to try and they were all good. Beef with Chinese broccoli was our favorite. We al were pleasantly surprised with the prices. It’s not fancy so go ahead and lowers your expectations. We knew we were in the right place when it was about 75% older Chinese people eating there,“

The foods and the drinks they also served taste very good and yummy. Eventually, I greatly loved my first visit here. It was all satisfying and worth it. Also, with the nice accommodation of the waiter that served my order, I felt very lively and overwhelmed. Thank you so much! Till next time!“

“If you like the predecessor of 8th St Cafe, called D&A cafe at the corner of Webster st cross 7th st 20 years ago, you would love this Hay Yue restaurant.I came for dinner today. The dishes are $20-$25 each, not too bad considering minimum wage is $16 an hour. If you want to enter value mode, you can get $39.99 for 3 dishes in smaller portions. The bamboo lamb brisket in clay pot is as delicious as you would expect. The one in my photo is a small portion version. A lot of lamb, very generous.Scrambled egg with prawns is a Hong Kong classic dish and this restaurant cooked it very well. The eggs are creamy as it should be. You can compare it with scrambled egg with bitter melons, which is another style that cooked the eggs a bit more. I like the creamy one more. This restaurant cooked these two dishes in two different styles that they should be, very good job here.If you like spicy food, you can give sichuan stir-fried chicken a try. It is surprisingly spicy enough to taste good. They have some customizations for clay pot rice which are not shown in the menu. For example, we can order a larger size of chicken pot rice with added preserved meat. I am not fond of pot rice in general, but they are very popular in this restaurant. People started ordering them at around 10:30 am!You will not be disappointed with the milk tea with condensed milk as well.Hay Yue restaurant is definitely a strong character in chinatown that you should put it on top of your taste menu, especially now other good ones were folded or gone.“

“This place is really incredible! Authentic Chinese cuisine. Soup dumplings, lamb skewers and beef noodle soup and a minced meat noodle dish (outstanding!!) were all fantastic! Not to mentions their house made chili oil. SO good! Honestly this place was hands down some of the most authentic Chinese food we’ve eaten on this side of the bay. Run don’t walk! Thanks Jackie!
