“One of the few true good Banh Mi places left that haven't gone bougie. Great BBQ pork, extremely reasonable prices, and the Vietnamese coffee is sweet but also still has a strong coffee taste to it which I prefer. Even though I appreciate getting in and out quickly, this place deserves lines out the door all day
Parking: There's free parking but it's really tight“

“Before today I was certain that there were no good Vietnamese restaurants in Marin. Then I tried Pho. What a find.
Very simple basic menu, but everything was perfect. Flavorful, fresh, generously sized, good service. Everything was right. We are talking San Francisco - San Jose level of excellence for Vietnamese food. I used to think you had to go to the City to find great Vietnamese food, But now we have it local here in San Rafael. The other Vietnamese restaurants around town can't even compare. This restaurant is now on my short list. Coming back. Five star.“

“Stopped by to get sandwiches for a picnic so the sandwiches were a bit soggy but tasted absolutely fantastic. My friends got the vegan sandwiches and I got the Korean fried chicken. I also got the crispy roll and ate them right away and one of my friends got a tea with it milk and boba. Everyone agreed that the pickles were great and the amount of jalapeño was perfect“

“I went in because I seen 5 star reviews and it did not disappoint. Owner was nice, welcoming and friendly. Very fast service and best of all the banh mi’s were so good. Fresh, soft and perfectly crisp bread, very flavorful and such a homemade feel. Would definitely recommend and come back myself to try other items!“

“It was a great experience. I like the atmosphere, food, and drinks. The waiter was very nice and helpful. They made the food exactly how I asked for it the first time. Fairly priced. I recommend the beef vermicelli with egg rolls. The durian shake was delicious and it's hard to find it at other places. 5 stars.“

“Ordering is done via a pad - no cash! And : NO TOILET. That is had. And it is a dine in location. I thought that is a requirement. Also, traditional banh mi is $11.50 but if you order it, it has a $1 surcharge for a traditional banh mi. Makes no sense and seems like a scam. Place is nicely designed. Clean. Wait is a bit longer than in comparable places. Food is good. It won some BEST OF MARÍN awards. The announcement that your meal is ready is done HOA a DMV like loud announcement….“

“Great food, clean place and friendly staff. Vermicelli/salad with spicy pork belly was delicious. Portions are decent. (I couldn't even eat shrimp rolls, had to take it for later).
Would definitely get back again if I'm in the area. ❤️“

“We have been going to La Maison for years. As Asians, it’s difficult to find good and authentic Asian food in Marin. The spicy beef and BBQ pork noodle soup is very flavorful, and many of the lunch specials are delicious as well. It’s a family owned business where the sisters provide very friendly service. Since they moved from Corte Madera, we still drive 20-30min each way regularly to eat there. We highly recommend that you try it out!“

“Best broth ever! I door dashed the rare steak and brisket (pho tai chin) for lunch today, it was amazing 😫 I had been feeling a little sick all day and I think this broth cured me. I want to buy the broth and just drink it. Also when it got delivered to me the broth was hot and they included plenty of toppings, some sauce, a lime slice, and utensils with a napkin. Very yummy thank you very much for the delicious meal. 😊“

“Delicious, authentic Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of downtown San Rafael. I just had the very best bowl of pho ever! The broth tastes amazing - I suspect that their pho broth is homemade. Golden Era looks unassuming from the outside, and I have been reluctant to try it, but this is now my absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Marin. I had the chicken wings and beef rib pho. The chicken wings were generously sized, crispy and fully cooked, yet juicy and tender. I realize I've become accustomed to freezer burnt undersized wings at other local Vietnamese restaurants. The beef rib pho had a huge tender, cooked to perfection rib, AND several large pieces of incredibly tender sliced beef (prime rib? so good!). I'm blown away by the broth! Every other Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to has the same powdered, tastes like gym socks buillion broth. Okay, maybe Slanted Door and Golden Era 1 have housemade broth.
This is the tasty, high quality comfort Asian/Asian fusion food you've been looking for. And at such good prices! The menu is on the small side, but I think that's a good thing, so they can focus on their delicious dishes. Family run, these folks try super hard to make delicious food for their customers.“
