Starbucks in San Diego

“As someone who has never really order anything caffeine before, I was given a recommendation to order a certain drink. I finally made the trip and got a Grande Mocca Cookie Frap. In truth, the first time I did so was at another Starbucks, and it had too much ice, so I decided to try again. It was an explosion in my mouth in terms of flavor and taste. I am in my early 20s, and yet it took me this look to realize just how much I was missing.“

“Me and my doggie bestie, Casper appreciate the outside seating and water bowl for pups.Normal Heights is great with Starbucks in town. ❤️ walk here. Leave your car at home. It will save the drama. But if driving... there is a small lot. Relax and come with kindness and patience. ❤️“

“Great place for a Frappuccino Cranberry Bliss Bar Turkey Danish or anything else your heart desires. Pastries are nice and warm the cookies espcially then the blueberry muffins etc… the green tea matcha frap is the best of the best. The SERVICE IS TOP TIER HERE- the best Starbucks is San Diego it ranks at number one among the top 3 or 4. And when yoh can’t have a freshly prepared Starbucks item head on over to your local grocery store or convenience store and get a Starbucks drink“

“Located in a somewhat hidden plaza, it's still popular with many people walking here on weekdays. The staff makes the drink pretty fast. The building structure is somewhat old but the decorations inside are pretty warming. The wall is decorated with photos from local dogs, they are cute and make me feel grateful. There is also an outside dining area, which might be great on a sunny day.“

“This location has such a cool vibe at breakfast time, lots of people coming by. There’s a really nice outdoor patio seating area, the big fountain is wonderful. I ordered my usual, the egg pesto + mozzarella breakfast sandwich and iced matcha latte. Both were absolutely delicious, as always. Great neighborhood, nice atmosphere and location.

Vegetarian options: I love love LOVE Starbucks’ new egg, pesto & mozzarella breakfast sandwich! Fabulous vegetarian option“

“As a business in the same plaza as Starbucks, we are so happy to see them move into a bigger space. The new location is beautiful and the staff is efficient. Now with the drive-through, they are insanely busy, but still keep a very calm atmosphere and all are very accommodating. Especially Johnny thank you!“

“This Starbucks is the best operating coffee shop in Metropolitan San Diego. They have a full-size patio, complete with umbrellas for shade as well. Always ready with my mobile order (pre-ordered) even on busy Sunday morning, right next to the massive farmer's market in Hillcrest! 5-star experience every visit!“

“I go here all the time, they are usually busy every morning during the weekdays as it is in a business and commercial area. Weekends are cool because it is very quiet and I will bring my kids for a mini date. The employees are always great and the coffee is always good. Service is very quick through the drive through as well. Also recommended the potato and chives egg bites from any Starbucks, something about them are very good!“

“Great Starbucks location with very quick and friendly baristas! Ordered an iced caffe mocha and Chestnut Praline Crème Frappuccino and really liked them. Also got a blueberry muffin and glazed donut which both tasted good. A good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Recommend if you need a pick-me-up!“

“What a great place this is! 2 of my friends and I went in for a couple of teas. Ryan and Jung served us and we had our drinks and left. I got home and thought I lost my phone so I called them and I talked to Ryan and asked if if he would check across the way because we had just eaten at Natsumi Seafood Buffet prior to going to their Starbucks and omg how sweet was he. Ryan checked at Natsuma and along with Jung they searched for my phone,it wasnt there I found it in my kitchen. One of my friends had also left her purse and phone there and even though they were closed,they took the extra time to help us out! My friend has her purse and phone now! So all in all,great service and amazingly wonderful employees! Ryan and Jung ( not sure how to spell his name,perhaps Young. )But either way these 2 guys are getting our business again and we will be leaving them a really nice tip to show our appreciation for their kindness! “Starbucks has really great coffee. The atmosphere is ok for a coffee shop and the service is ok. They're always too busy to be friendly.

Dietary restrictions: Food options are limited and can be a good dietary choice. Convenient if you're on the run.“

“I thought this location had a drive thru after passing the building a few times. It appears to but does not. With small kids I prefer a drive thru so I don't have to unpack everyone to pick up a coffee but overall the staff were nice and the coffee was good. Would be more enjoyable if you can go sit and enjoy the outdoors without kids ?

Vegetarian options: Starbucks has several meat free and vegetarian options.

Parking: There is a large lot with a lot of spots. Should be no problem finding parking here.“

“Damien was awesome !!! He is such a sweet barista. I am so happy with his kindness and he is just a great guy! Not to sure about the female manager she seemed kinda on guard but Damien made it worth the drink! Thank you for the Boba ( pearls)“

“Most places try to rush you
Don't let you think, maybe I change my mind on something or want to add a snack for kiddos. But here they where very humble and nice. Didn't rush me I would definitely drive to this location even if I have one around corner of my house. Ty for making good quality coffee and vibes 😌“

“Not only are the food and drinks here delicious, but the "cherry on top" are the people and their quality service that they provide. This is definitely my go-to coffee spot. I love coming here to start my day.

Vegetarian options: They have about three delicious vegetarian options that I personally love switching through when I pick my food option.“

“This is one of my favorite Starbucks locations in this area. Finding parking can be a hassle but it's a more relaxed atmosphere than many of the other locations. Food and beverage are pretty much the same as other locations. Lately my drink of choice is the Tropical Citrus which is great. Flavor, caffeine and without cramming a bunch of sugar into your system.

“This review is for the girl who just helped me out today 3/23/24 11:58am. Didn’t catch her name but she was the only African American girl working and the only one to greet me out of the 5 people behind the counter. I’m not one to review a place but this Starbucks has a staff that is normally unprofessional and rude, but the girl who helped me me stands out and is not incompetent like the rest of her co workers. I’d give no stars to this Starbucks and 5 stars to this employee! Give her a raise and make her a manager!“

“Great Starbucks!!!! There is a good amount of room inside. It's always nice and cold on hit summer days. There is also a drive thru at this location. The service here is always fast. There is also ample outdoor seating under the overhang in front of the store.

Parking is tight right now while there is construction, but there is street parking surrounding the building, so it's not really a problem.

Vegetarian options: All Starbucks have foods that cater to a vegetarian diet available.

Dietary restrictions: There is a variety of menu items that can be purchased or substituted to meet your dietary needs.

Parking: Parking is limited during the evening when people are visitingthe neighboring restaurants, but it's usually not a problem. Probably to small for large vehicles in general, would recommend paring around back or on the street.

Kid-friendliness: As kid friendly as all Starbucks are, drink and food options for kids available

“I asked for a surprise hot coffee. The guy with the beanie was legendary. The drink i got and service was amazing. Super happy with how it turned out. I would have never thought of ordering a drink like this. It was delicious haha only downside i still dont know what the drink even was. Definitely recommend this.“

“We bought coffee but it was to strong I had to go up 2 times to fix the coffee but the music was good. The bathrom was a little messy needs to be cleaned more than one time a day.

“I like this store but my one complaint is the fact that in the bathrooms when you press down on the water in sink it keeps running…. Even when I try to pull knob up it doesn’t stop. It’s very wasteful and unsustainable. I’m not sure how long the water keeps running but when I brought it up to barista she said that it was normal and would turn off eventually. Which I understand but would be great if someone could fix this! Thanks:)“

“Great service, so so many smiles everywhere. Idk if they love their job but with all the smiles I know they love customer service. I asked for turkey white egg sandwiche, was soggy bread, they remade it once then redid the heating part 2x. I wasn't mad or bothered they were patient and didn't make me feel like I was a problem. Great customer service and experience. Great way to start off the morning before work. Def have morning ppl for early morning coffee establishments. Happy overall. I'll be posting pics later.“

“I worked for Starbucks for 10 years in a very fast paced store in the University District of Seattle. I am so impressed with the caliber of the San Diego Gaslamp store. I am here for a conference and ordered a coffee every morning when they were extremely busy. They are fast, accurate, friendly and organized. The employees at this store fully embody the Starbucks vision. Everyone at this store deserves a raise!“

“I never really got Starbucks, but I slowly started coming more and more frequently because it’s just a nice place to come by and enjoy a drink. I’m a local college student and I just love to stop by and unwind after classes with a tea and some drawing time for myself. It’s such a nice little place and the staff are so nice and welcoming! “We recently had the pleasure of visiting this Starbucks. we have been to many Starbucks, but I must say, the experience in this one every time is outstanding. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by TORI, who took the time to listen to our order and have an excellent memory. The other day, we went, and when not asking for almond milk, she asked with no almond milk today? I was impressed. What I like the most was her attention, and even remembering our names as soon as we came in, and personally, it was my second time visiting. “Great location. Excellent service and lots of seating with plugs. WiFi isn’t blazing fast, but definitely a good place to be able to get work done while enjoying a caffeinated beverage

Parking: Large free parking lot. Only a few shade trees and some not close.“

“Work remote ??3/4. Ok all, this is Starbucks so we all know what to expect. Why I enjoy this location... Starbucks Reserve selection, plug ins ample and still available (many Starbucks removing), two communal tables to spread out, reliable WiFi, ample parking and located next to restaurants, postal store, banks, cell store, homestores, Costco w/ gas etc. I can basically get every errand completed for the day and not move my car. Bring headphones, noise level varies. Why I don't like this location... seats are hit and miss on weekends, and bring a sweater it can be chilly.“

“The drinks are always great and I often order the impossible breakfast sandwich because it's easier on my gut than regular breakfast sandwiches--which I'm really thankful for because breakfast is one of my favorite dishes. The staff are nice and the people are friendly.

“I’ve been to mannnnny Starbucks locations and this one by-far exceeded my expectations. Incredible employees. I witnessed the most friendly interactions between the employees and customers, I was also a beneficiary of incredible kindness. In 2024, this shouldn’t be alarming rather the norm but unfortunately it’s few and far between. I can tell that the management at this location creates a healthy and fulfilling culture which radiates to the customers. Well done!!!“

“This store let me use the restroom since Mitsuwa’s was “closed,” Staples’ was “closed” and Nishiki had a huge line. I needed to actually use the restroom but also to put my Invisalign in and i always need to rinse it as well as my mouth after i eat bc it feels nasty to not do so. I have had a day and a half and i must have looked like a complete lunatic but they allowed me to go. THANK YOU so much.“

Yesterday I got the worst attitude I dont remember her name she had pink bangs skinny and an accent like European kinda very rude treated me like I was a scumbag didn't try too give me service just rudely said we don't do refills here this was late morning today around one a barista named Cassidy helped me she was so sweet she is an example of how all baristas should be she suggested what drink would wake me up and a sweet humble attitude she even drew a heart on the foam part which made my day better I was feeling sad after my friend got hospitalized again for heart failure she Cheered me up“

“Great location, friendly staff, and they remember their visitor's orders!They've been undermanned for a long time, so they had to cut their hours back to 1200, which makes it tough getting a quick coffee into an afternoon or evening schedule. Other coffee options on base aren't as convenient. I try to avoid the Nex and commissary, since getting in and out of that complex is not easy for a quick stop, so I hope they get more staff soon!“

“Usually short or no lines. There’s a 15 minute parking space in the lot just for this StarBucks. You can order/pay for your drink and pick it up on your way out after shopping (quick trip that is).Sometimes (not often) there’s not an employee there but if you ask someone from Vons, they will send a message over the PA system.“

“Nice quiet place, met with a business women from Ryder Truck Rental And Leasing. The Starbucks was quiet with low playing background music so We didn't have to talk loudly to be able to hear each other, and it was a good place to talk nobody was too worried about what we were doing so it was semi private.“

I brought my toddler who wanted to touch everything, and they were kind enough to give me a little oat milk while I ordered.
