“A great place to go work when you have a lot to get done. More outside spots than inside so its better on a sunny day. Its open late which is great. Never issues with the wifi bht limited charging spots.
Drinks are very yummy.
No designated parking so you will have to drive around for a spot.“

“Both hands up for this wonderful coffee place I happened to stumble upon, right outside the skirts of Downtown Berkeley. They're located right on the intersection of MLK and University, right behind the Indian restaurant.

This coffee place is honestly a little bit small, so please proceed with caution at all costs. But it really makes you feel cozy at home. They do have upstairs seating, but rather really limited. It will be full at times, and at times, not at all. It depends on the time that you go.

They have a wide assortment of sweet and savory pastries available as well. I got their ham & cheese scone, as well as their speciality drink, their banana cream iced coffee. I love how balanced their iced coffee is with the banana cream, which surprisingly, is made with ACTUAL banana puree made from actual bananas.

The barista who made my drink was very nice and very chill, and served it rather quick. That's what's up!

“Ordered catering for a bridal shower of about 35-40 guests. Wish I had taken photos because the food came packed and presented to serve with beautiful printed cards for each dish. Every item we ordered -- lamb, chicken, cauliflower, roasted potatoes, squash, salad and mezza plate -- was phenomenal. All the guests loved the food and appreciated that there was something for everyone -- vegans and GF guests alike. We also ordered their chocolate cake with tahini buttercream and sesame toffee and it was incredible. Jennie and Benji were communicative, informative and kind throughout all of our interactions. i also got a cup of famously stretchy booza, which seems to be very hard to find in the bay area. they have a couple of flavours but i went with mastic which had subtle floral taste. you can add toppings like petals, pistachios, & kadayif- i got everything but the kadayif was stale unfortunately.

“This little shop just outside the Emeryville station has the biggest croissants I’ve ever seen… literally the size of my head before it was squished. The bacon, egg and cheese croissant sandwich was absolutely delicious.. The guy who runs it was very friendly and did not get upset with all my questions. For the massive sandwich which fed two people as well as a medium cappuccino, my total was just over $15. Not a bad deal, considering I’m in California.“

They do close early , earlier than their posted hours though sometimes a half hour early so best to arrive over an hour before they close . “I've been coming for breakfast and lunch every other week for the past several months. The food is tasty and prepared with care, and the service is very good. The bagel with lox is generously portioned with plenty of capers and onions. The breakfast burrito is tasty and very balanced between the chorizo and other ingrediets. All the sandwiches have a great balance of ingredients, are generous, but not oversized. The house coffees are nice blends. What I mean by prepared with care is that nothing is greasy or over salty, meaning it is purposely prepared and assembled carefully, and ingredients chosen and the dish seasoned with attention so the end result is great. Take the breakfast burrito, for example - most places, there would be grease and juices dripping out, but Ruby's is very clean and tasty - you can eat with one hand without worrying it will drip onto your arm.“

“As a huge fans of acai bowl or any smoothie bowls, I really recommend this place. Among smoothie bowl places that i’ve been visited in Bay Area, this place has one of the most aesthetically pleasing bowls. The price is a bit higher compare to other smoothie bowl places, but it is worth it since they offer great variety of topping. The taste and the texture are okay. “This review is on their coffee. I’m a coffee snob for health reasons, bad coffee burns my UT. Red bay, High Wire, 4 Barrel, bird and bear is my standard. So if this is your vibe be reading.

So, the coffee is ok. Not bad but not impressive. They use Costco milks. So from taste point of view. It’s already boring without even drinking it.

I had a sourdough Breakfast sandwich. Ingredients were pretty standard, but it was pretty tasty with some hot sauce and ketchup.

Coming here is more of a “I need something now” vs “I want a tasty treat”

I will be back as they do have some other great offerings.

“The BEST homemade empanadas with a variety of flavors - the new poblano mole is to DIE for and they said a new birria flavor is coming soon! “There were three in my party. We ducked in here to take a break from the cold rain. We ordered a chai, a golden/turmeric chai, and a caffé latté, all with oat milk. It’s our first try of oat milk. We all liked it a lot. The foam on my golden chai was lovely. I’d reorder it anytime. I tried my mate’s latté with oat milk, I can recommend it. The pastries we ordered were all worth the consumption. I’m so glad there was one pretzel cheese bun left. It was delicious even though it wasn’t warm. I highly recommend them. We also ordered a quiche, a chocolate croissant, and an almond pastry. They were all superb. The almond pastry which was super light and flaky tasted like baklava more so than an almond filling. I liked the vibe here. So often I want to grab my order and split, not here. I felt fine taking refuge from the outside environs. The staff were sweet regardless of their spoken English being nearly impossible to understand. It was cool assuming they were part of the refugee program. It felt good being a patron there and the inspired conversation it led to. I am sure my party was surprised I was already knowledgeable about the topic on current refugees. That made our café and conversation time only that much more enjoyable.“
