“I can’t recommend the Garden Cafe enough! I had a wonderful first experience here today having lunch. The food was delicious & nutritious- I got the Salmon Greek Salad (comes with garlic bread) and the “San Rafael Sunrise” drink, which is a juice including veggies and chia seeds. Lots of seating options indoors and outdoors with good lighting. Free wifi for those looking for a good study spot.
The service was AMAZING and contributed to creating such a friendly, inviting atmosphere. I have to give a special shout-out to Miguel, who was so gracious and apologetic about my juice being made wrong the first time. They were out of beets and I believe Miguel called someone and had more beets brought in while I was eating lunch so that I had a corrected juice with beets to enjoy before I finished eating! To be clear, I told Miguel it was completely fine that they were out of beets but he insisted it wasn’t fair to not get what I ordered and made sure I got my beet juice. I can vouch for how much the Garden Cafe values each customer there! I will be recommending to friends and coming back.“

“Cute mom and pop Korean cafe. Feels like a very casual Korean mom meal. Nothing fancy, but definitely prepared with love. Prices very reasonable and all house-made. Good banchan and good texture on the multigrain rice. Healthy and legit. Very happy to see the owner is actually a Korean and not a Caucasian person making mid-fake Asian fast casual food lol. “Highly, highly recommend this place (of all the banh mi places in SF and Marin). This place is a gem in the North Bay. I've been to both locations, but live closer to the San Rafael deli. As a Vietnamese who grew up eating banh mi (not "bahn" - please stop misspelling this word!, although I understand "bahn" has been spelled like this to make it phonetically easier to pronounce), I vouch for this place. It is wholeheartedly the best banh mi place in the Bay area. Growing up, I lived in a close-knit Vietnamese-American community, and my mother and another lady in our village sold banh mi, so I have a discerning taste for banh mi. This place is totally legit and super authentic. The french bread is just the right texture (light and flaky, but not dense inside). The actual bread in a Vietnamese banh mi is not the same as a french baguette that is more often dense and chewy (and thanks to French colonizers, they left the Vietnamese with french bread and amazing architecture). I know many places in the Bay area that serve more dense baguettes for banh mi, which isn't authentic. The filling is perfect and the right amount with no special brown sauce or gravy. Vietnamese banh mi filling is not sweet, but has a slight tang and citrusy flavor from the pickled carrots and daikon.This is the perfect example of Vietnamese banh mi. I don't normally write reviews, but I want to spread the word that this place serves very good banh mi. Another added value is the price of a banh mi that is 30% less than the price of other places that are now charging $10-13 per baguette. The owners are super sweet, too. If you happen to find yourself in the North Bay and craving a banh mi, or want to find an authentic example, this place is a must!

The painting on the wall was so beautiful. The lamb burger was made to perfection it was so juicy and flavorful! I love middle eastern food and it’s really hard to find a place in America that has GOOD middle eastern food. This is the spot to go if you’re looking for authentic great tasting middle eastern food!“

We've been here from breakfast and lunch. The hamburgers are grass fed antibiotic free beef. Very good and filling. My husband has had the omelet and chorizo scramble also good. I usually order a latte and they bring it i a little tea pot so it fills my cup a few times and they have dairy alternatives.“

Our recent meal with lamb chops, fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes and split pea soup served with crumbled blue cheese salad couldn't have been better. “Bopped in for a bite on a cool Monday evening hoping for cozy but the place is bit well lit and stark. Also they don't heat the place and it was cold inside, everyone in jackets. Sounds negative but that was turned around by some fantastic pasta, namely the Gamberoni alla Busara. Heads on shrimp in a garlicky tomato cream sauce provided deep layers of flavor, bravo! I almost ate the plate it came on.“

“Wonderful hidden gem inside a San Rafael medical center. Exceptionally good traditional Mexican food. Tiny interior but pleasant outdoor courtyard on warm days or evenings. Very friendly family run business. They have a larger outpost on 4th Street, but this is home base with all of the original charm.“

“Spent $32 for a cherry scone, bacon breakfast burrito, and a drip coffee. That being said, it was like if my mom was making me breakfast before school but so much tastier. Very delicious, great scone, drinkable coffee, would recommend other than it being expensive. But hey, what isn’t these days.

(Okay the burrito was probably the smallest breakfast burrito I’ve ever purchased, and it was $16, but it tasted good)

Okay I gotta say it again, the scone was fantastic and had the perfect amount of sugar and was perfectly moist and crumbly and delicious. Soooo goood, but sooooo $8 ☹️

Vegetarian options: Good amount of vegetarian as breakfast can be subbed avocado for protein easily but not many other vegetarian options. My friend had a vegetarian breakfast burrito and left satisfied.

Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options, also tended to be on the milder amount of sugar used which I prefer

Kid-friendliness: Great atmosphere and very homey vibes. It is an adult professional atmosphere because this is SF but very friendly and comfortable.“
