“2024 update: dined in for the first time and was underwhelmed with the food. Chickpea curry is decent, kaya toast is decent. The dan dan noodles are straight up not good! Extremely salty and fatty. Skipped dessert (unheard of for me) because the main dishes already made me feel so heavy and unhealthy.2022 takeout review: The laksa is incredible. It is easily two meals (can serve two people). I'm not a spice person and this was at the upper end of my spice tolerance but not too spicy. A side of clay oven bread is really good to dip in it. My only complaint was I ordered takeout and my order was ready 15 minutes later than the original estimate.“
“We discovered this Noodle bar in January when I was down at UCLA for a minor surgery. Food was great then, so we stopped by for lunch last week. Food was great again.Totally recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a clean, quite meal with GREAT food....“
“I ordered pho with beef steak and beef balls. It’s among the best pho I had in west LA. The soup is great. But honestly the beef is ok. The price may be a little higher than expected. The restaurant is in a good location, there’s boba next door.“
“BEST pad see ewe I've had in LA! I'm quite picky when it comes to Thai food. I'm one for authenticity when it comes to food in general. So I like to learn the history & stories behind the food, and the people the food represents. Very friendly & welcoming service. Bright, simple, and clean ambience. The fried mango-sticky rice rolls are an excellent and a quite ingenious version of the typical mango & sticky rice dessert! I also appreciated the check out process with their handheld device & they take Apple Pay. From the beginning as I entered I felt welcomed, again throughout the service was like being waited on by family, all smiles; and to the end of the meal, bows and smiles! 3 suggestions though: 1. The Thai tea could have been done with little less milk and more tea, and maybe offer other milk options like almond or soy milk, but it was still very flavorful and smooth! 2. I would like to see an upgrade in the glassware used for drinks like the Thai tea, hopefully in the near future. 3. Need better professional pictures up on Yelp. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical in trying this restaurant as I saw there were only 94 other reviews, yet it all averaged 5 stars! So I always make a point to try restaurants that possibly may have been overlooked or underrated. This place is definitely an authentic gem one all would enjoy! They actually deserve 10 stars I'll definitely be back again ;)“
“Got lucky today after arriving at LAX. On our way home we found this spot! Yelp gave 4.5 stars. Absolutely delighted with my experience at this pho restaurant! The food was incredibly delicious, showcasing authentic flavors that left my taste buds in awe. The ambiance was enhanced by the charming touch of traditional music, creating a delightful atmosphere. What truly stood out was the exceptional service - always delivered with a genuine smile. A 5-star gem that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking an outstanding dining experience!“
“Best Pho and many dishes to enjoy. Big dining lounge but fills up really fast during lunchtime. All your food is fresh and cook to order coming out piping hot. You can upgrade your Pho soup to XL bowl, which I recommended if you're a big and hungry guy like me or a woman. I usually get their spring rolls and egg rolls that are made to order and fresh with peanut sauce. Great Pho soup for the price with fast service and great tasting Vietnamese food.“
“Food was great. They have a weird charging thing though about extra meat (you don’t get much extra) there was a guy blasting music next to me. I couldn’t enjoy my date. As well as the server barely coming to ask if we want a refill(it’s tap water for people like me who HATE sink water) we had to like chase them down for the check. And that took forever to come. Good food and place, very homey and cozy, bad service.“
“I should have taken a picture before I started devouring my food. Got the bowl with brown rice, crispy tofu and pretty much all the toppings. Had the traditional Fish sauce and cilantro ginger sauce. It's delicious. I feel like there aren't a lot of options in this area and this is a great one! Something for everyone. The bowl is huge so I'll probably save the rest for dinner. Highly recommend if you're looking for something tasty and healthy-ish in a hurry!“
“Really great pad see ew and good service. The soft drinks have free refills and come in huge glasses so that's a plus as well. The restaurant was quiet and the tables were a bit close together, so that wasn't ideal, but overall def worth it for the great food.“
“My favorite, go-to Thai food in LA and the best krapow on the west side. Better than any other kra-pow I’ve found here by a mile. Noodles are amazing. Always nice and extremely fast service, very reasonable prices. Every once in a while I’ll try somewhere new and I always come back here.“
“Vegetarian options: I really love this place it’s so amazing . I also love to eat noodles from this specific place . Owner is so nice and kind . Noodles and fried rice are so delicious. They have good vegetarian options too along with non vegetarian. That’s my favorite place for Chinese food . Love it ??“
“Great place to get your essential dose of Pho. Delicious broth, cool nostalgic environment inside, audio cassettes as menus.Lots of daylight and good vibes inside. Located perfectly so you can visit The Academy Museum/LACMA or other fun stuff that is in the area.“
“Overall it’s good and average pho ? for neighborhood restaurant. Meat was surprisingly better tasting than from the looks. broth was good and average. Noodles were the weakest and just basic. The service was friendly and great. Price is high but for local area pricing it is fair or slighter cheaper than average in the area.“
“One of the best pho spots in West LA! Per recs, I got chef's special and it was LOADED with tender ribs and tendon. They gave us a free bun thit - which they made accidentally and it was SO delicious too! Definitely recommend ordering the egg rolls as an appetizer. Patio seating is nice alongside the street of Sawtelle. Service was great and checked in on us frequently.“
“I’m not sure why it took me this long to find out about this place, but they have the most authentic char koay teow you can find in Los Angeles! (As close as it can get without the one ingredient that is banned here) Their Hainan Chicken Rice and Mee Goreng is pretty spot on as well. If you are Malaysian/Singaporean living on the west side and has cravings for food from home, look no further!I wish they have more offerings like Roti Canai or Hokkien Mee but being an Asian fusion place half their offerings are western. I’ll take what I can get though!“
“I went there because the pho place I usually go to was closed. I had the fillet mignon (well done) Pho, and it was very tasty. It only comes in a Large portion. The broth was flavorful, and it hit the spot. The service was good and fast even though it was busy. The restaurant is located at a strip mall so it’s good for a casual dine in, nothing fancy.“
“[Review #677]2023-080Food Order:BYOB (1/2 garlic rice, 1/2 vermicelli noodles, grilled pork, basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, cucumbers, jalapeños, lime, mint, pickled cabbage, pickled carrots & daikon, pickled onion & habanero, scallions, sunomono, tomatoes, crispy onions, crushed peanuts, toasted sesame seeds, cilantro ginger sauce)Bowl Specialist: Magnificent Maria (manager)!Menu/Price: compact menu with slightly higher than normal price points (expected/on par for the westside), though portions are about an extra 1/2 - whole serving, it's considered reasonable.Restroom: gender neutral on the right, just before the exit to the backside patio dining.Parking: lots of metered parking along Venice Blvd., rare availability during lunch/dinner rush. Free on Sundays, all other days are 25¢/15-mins.; look out for signs in the evening for free parking.Trying to clear out my drafts for the year... I learned about Mȳ Lai via a YEE (Review #676) -- of course -- about 2 years ago. Even though I work a couple of miles south of the restaurant, I wouldn't have known about them even though they're located near the busy corner of Venice Blvd. & Centinela Ave. in Mar Vista.Mȳ Lai (= Vietnamese mixed with American aka Ameriasian) is a modern, fast-casual Vietnamese restaurant that's the brainchild of husband & wife team: Shad Davis & Traci Phan-Davis. I love the idea of a bánh mì in a bowl form & one that you can create. It's a simple 4-step process build your own (bánh mì) or bowl (BYOB): 1) Base It (bánh mì, brown rice, cauliflower rice, garlic rice, salad, vermicelli noodles); 2) Meat It (crispy tofu, grilled chicken, grilled pork, Impossible meat, rockin' beef); 3) Top It (veggies: basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, cucumbers, jalapeños, lime, mint, pickled cabbage, pickled carrots & daikon, pickled onion & habanero, scallions, sunomono, tomatoes; crunchies: crispy onions, crispy garlic, crushed peanuts, toasted sesame seeds); 4) Sauce It (cilantro ginger, honey sriracha, miso sesame, Mỹ Lai vinaigrette, peanut sauce, sesame vinaigrette, tamarind vinaigrette, vegan Mỹ Lai vinaigrette).I had an excellent intro from Maria that I repeated the same deliciousness on my subsequent visits during COVID-19 lockdown. While I didn't enjoy my place of employment, I would have frequented Mỹ Lai more often due to the short distance, generous portions (hefty in weight & volume!), but I left before they reopened. I've been back a couple of times, & my takeout bowls are usually packed to the brim that the lid doesn't stay shut. O_oWith a variety of veggie toppings & crunchies, each bowl is "brilliantly" (colored) crafted. Between the grilled pork & chicken, I prefer the pork even though it doesn't have the char/grilled marks of the thịt nướng that I'm used to. The pickled veggies were crisp but a bit muted in acidity, needed the pickled onions & habaneros for some oomph of chili heat. I liked the flavorful cilantro ginger dressing best; if you do a combo, I would advise an 80:20 sesame & tamarind vinaigrette mix. The ratio of protein:base & veggies were on point that I had a bite of everything from start to finish... not quite authentic, but certainly satisfying & yummy! They have a Maine Root Soda Fountain... you gotta try the mexicane cola! Not in my neck of the woods, but I'll stop by Mȳ Lai when I'm infrequently in the area.Recommended: BYOB (better bargain & more food than bánh mì).“
“Small restaurant along a strip of small restaurants but we keep coming back here for very tasty Vietnamese faire. Just ordered the Bun Cha (rice noodles with pork in fish sauce) by accident and found out it's delicious despite the funny stuff collection of ingredients.“
“Walking in felt like home, the decor was like a mother's home, the cute bar in middle. Very small establishment but the food and drinks made up for that. The fried chicken with fish sauce was delicious. The crab rice was also deliciously good. I can't remember the name of the drink I had but it was so tasty and strong. I will recommend coming here for good drinks and good food.“
“This is pho-king GOOOD!!! OK so I love pho but I hadn't had it a couple years (drag me). This was my first time trying this spot. This bowl literally restored my faith in humanity. Parking in this area is always a lil scarce but it's well worth it.The service here is great! The staff is super friendly and informative about the different flavor profiles the restaurant has to offer. The location is clean and all that, don't even get me started on the food. Straight up delicious. I ordered the fish pho and OMG with the combination of spices and sauces it was mouthwateringly good. It was super flavorful and combined w the fresh herbs it was OVER.Loved my meal here + I had plenty of leftovers! I'm absolutely coming back lol“
“Been coming here for years . The Pho never disappoints. They serve it in a huge bowl with all the necessary garnishes including bean sprouts, lemon, fresh basil & jalapeños. Their spring rolls are delicious with the peanut sauce. Not a fan of spring roll try their dumplings sooo good. Thai tea is made to perfection as well.Staff is very nice. Clean bathroom , and very clean tables always!Parking isn’t always the best in the afternoon because that plaza gets busy but at night lots of spots.Parking: Metered parking all along WestwoodShared parking lot“
“Excellent place to visit if you like Vietnamese food with a fancy twist. I got the shaky shaky beef and the sauce was a similar taste to soy sauce with a hint of teriyaki sauce, beef was medium, salad was good, the rice was very good and the service was awesome. Would definitely be back to try to different plates.“
“This place is a hidden gem right here in WeHo! Found this delicious restaurant about 2 months ago, and have eaten here for dine-in & take out multiple times. The FOOD has been consistently amazing every time.I've tried the OXtail PHO, the brisket PHO, the Chicken Rice bowl, & the popcorn chicken. They all SMACK! ?????Very flavorful and Tasty. The Atmosphere inside is upscale casual. There's a natural look with a relaxed vibe inside. (Great for dates). They have a bar with good drinks, clean bathrooms, & a small outdoor dinning area. The only quality that can match the FOOD here is, actually the SERVICE!The STAFF (Alvaro) & others that have served us have been outstanding.GREAT customer SERVICE experience, from the wait staff, down to Chef Eric with great FOOD.I will definitely be returning to PHORAGE again next time I'm in town.-CHRIS*STARRDietary restrictions: They have a GF GLUTEN FREE MENU!!!! ❤️?“
“Tried it last night for the first time. Takeout. The pho was delicious. My only complaint is that the spring rolls were wrapped tightly in plastic and I bit into the plastic since it’s hard to tell they’re wrapped. My poor husband had never had them before and he actually ate the plastic! He said that’s just how he thought they were. Please don’t wrap them! Or at least let customers know!“
“Food: Ordered the pork belly banh mi (around $20) and it was SOOO good!! The meat is marinated so well and it practically melts in your mouth. Stuffed with carrots, daikon, cilantro, and a ton of meat. The portions are super generous, I had to take half to-go. Food came out in less than 10 min Service: it seems to be family-operated and everyone was so sweet and nice. The guy (possibly the owner) checked in on us multiple times, refilled water, napkins, anything that we could possibly need Seating: about 6 stools, so on the smaller side. There is a takeout window tho for people who don't want to dine in. Parking: street parking, we found parking right in front of Face Gym and walked like 3 min“
