“The bar at the Valley Inn is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in LA. Yes, it’s tiny but get there early, secure your seat and you’re in for a ride of the greatest cocktails served up by a ladies and gentlemen’s gentleman - the maker with the shaker, Bill. Seriously, make a friend of this guy and then introduce him and the bar to your favorite people - only your favorite people! The food in the restaurant is great but a tad expensive but the bar will become your new happy place. Bravo“

They went above and beyond to make a special order for me. It was worth the wait. “I'm posting this review mainly to understand if this is a standard policy or something unique to our experience. We came in as a group of four and noticed that an automatic 18% gratuity was already added to our check. I was surprised, as this is usually reserved for larger parties. To be clear, we did not question it at the time because we were already planning to leave 20%. However, once we saw that 18% was automatically added, we simply left it as is. If the restaurant prefers to set the gratuity at 18%, then we respected that and did not add anything further. I'm an Asian restaurant owner myself and fully support tipping, I always leave 20% and planned to do so here as well. That said, being automatically charged gratuity for a table of four felt unusual and raised questions for me. I honestly want to ask other diners: has this happened to you too when dining with four people here? Service-wise, it was ok, not bad, but not particularly friendly or welcoming from the host or server. Again, nothing negative enough to complain about, just very average. Food and drinks were good, but the lack of clarity around the gratuity policy made the experience less comfortable. Clear communication would go a long way.“

“Cactus is my go-to for Mx food in LA. For me, it has the flavors that my grandma used to cook with (from Mazatlán & Mx City). The staff is always super sweet & helpful. The food is always delicious. If I happen to be relatively close to any of their locations (I’ve been to almost all of them) I have to stop and pick something up. They also usually have current sports games playing which is always appreciated.
