“One of my favorite places to get naengmyun. Mo Ran Gak is a name that is widely known to have reputable cold noodles.
When you get a meat dish with naengmyun, they give you a small side dish of the spicy one as well. Or vice versa if you got the spicy, you'll get the broth one as a side.
There is a small parking lot here and usually a line even right when they open.
I would advise on coming early or putting aside enough time to wait 1 hour before being seated on a busy day.“

“Saw excellent reviews on Google Maps and a YouTube reviewer I trust said this place was great. Only 4 minutes down the road from where we are staying. There's no sign or anything so it's good that I had looked it up prior. Door was open (which meant 3 big flies hovering), Halloween episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer playing (followed by a Halloween Freaks and Geeks); no AC. Unfortunately no gyoza available which I wanted to try but I got the spam musubi, single smash burger and fries. Spam musubi didn't have any fry on the spam and something in my 2 pieces was super crunchy, and the seaweed was difficult for me to bite through. The fries were fresh cut and amazing, GREAT portion. And the single smash burger is SO worth the hype! But beware that it is messy and there's like a whole onions worth on it so if we get to go back, I'll be requesting lite onion and lite sauce. Really good meal I'm glad I got to enjoy.“

“I am a first-generation Korean who visits Korea often. This place has become our go-to spot for Korean food (my husband who is 5th generation Californian).
- Tasty: Even my picky 80 years old uncle loves their food.
- Fresh ingredients: No frozen, no old ingredients
- They don't cut corners. For instance, one of favorite Korean dishes is stir-fried squid (calamari), which HamaHippo makes exceptionally well (try it with noodles if you can take gluten) - tasty and generous with the portion of squid. They close on Sunday but I needed to go out for a dinner, so I went to my former go-to Korean restaurant and ordered the same dish. Most of the dish was noodle with very little, not-well thawed squid. After visiting my former go-to Korean restaurant, I appreciate the food quality of HamaHippo even more. Another example, when you order Bibimbap, you will get variety of fresh, generous portion of vegetables.
- Super reasonable prices, especially considering how fresh the ingredients are.
Vegetarian options: I am a pescatarian. The owner says they can make any dish vegetarian-friendly, even vegan. For example, in my case, when I ordered Bibim Naeng Myun in a hot day, I asked if it was vegetarian. They usually use beef broth for the sauce but accommodated my dietary choice by bringing the beef broth separately, which my friend enjoyed. The dish was delicious.“

“Great lunch special priced at $22.99 (available 7 days a week which is pretty rare) and they have a DIY taco station! The taco station is so unique and definitely worth trying to elevate the meal! Good vibes, decent service, and you can queue via yelp waitlist. There are two locations La Habra + Rowland Heights!“

“It's a simple but very satisfying restaurant! As the name suggests, the main dish is a combination of rice and soup, and the gentle seasoning that brings out the flavors of the ingredients is appealing. We especially recommend the soup rice, which has plenty of ingredients and is perfectly balanced and nutritious. It's filling, but not heavy, and it leaves you feeling warm and warm even after you've finished eating. The inside of the restaurant is clean and has a calm atmosphere, so it's perfect for when you want to have a quick meal by yourself. This is a restaurant that can be recommended for those who are health conscious! Please try it!“

“Wow. Came for takeout, got one of the best, crispiest pork katsus Ive ever had!! Brought a person who grew up in Korea and is pretty picky, and they also agree!! Totally unexpected for just a quick bite we wanted late at night! My pictures don't do it justice because we got takeout but hopefully you can tell how light and crispy it is. Not greasy, the inside is almost creamy not dry at all, perfectly seasoned breading, such that even if you didn't eat it with sauce it would still be delicious!! The Korean style katsu sauce was a great pairing though!! We also got odeng an ddeokkbokkk which were quite good! But we really want to try the kimbap next time because they looked so scrumptious in the photos and they were just like the ones they sell in Korea and have an ideal filling to rice ratio 🤤 as they are supposed to! They were sold out by the time it was late night though, so we will have to come earlier next time! Additional bonus: the place was quite clean despite being a couple years old and run by a
very small team it seems! A very cute simple hangout spot I'd love to bring a few friends at any time and the man at the counter was so kind and nice. Highly recommend, if you can't tell already!! :). The little flower lights and blue and white theme was so cute. I definitely want to dine in next time too!“

“I'm not going to say this is an authentic experience -- Craft Bowl is to Korean food as Chipotle is to Mexican food. But it doesn't take away from the fact that the food is delicious in its own right and the value is insane. I'm so used to take out prices being eye popping lately that craft Bowl is a breath of relief.
Chili cheese tteokboki was a guilty pleasure: chewy crispy American Korean fusion dish.
The popcorn chicken bowl was really surprisingly good -- I did not think those ingredients would work together but they did. Chef definitely cooked here.
I'll be back to try the chicken bulgogi bowl.“

“This is a place I often visit. The broth is truly delicious. It's prepared with fresh ingredients, and the sundae is beautifully plated. The kimchi is exceptionally delicious, and I love the variety of side dishes. The best part is the hospitality. I always feel delighted when I visit. When the owner is kind to his guests, everyone respects each other and enjoys the meal.“

“Nice little place. I was looking for something different from the normal ramen or pho for dinner. I have had jjambbong at a couple of other places and they were good. This place was also good. I ordered the seafood with a rib soup dish and some dumplings. They did not disappoint. The dumplings were chicken with veggies. I put a couple in my soup and that really upped the flavor. The soup can be spicy to many and being an Asian dish it could start you on fire if not careful. I opted to try it mild and it still had some spice. It was a perfect for a cold night. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.“

“If you’re looking for a trendy twist on Korean cuisine, Chan Chan is a great spot to check out! They offer classic Korean dishes but with modern flavor updates and presentation that’s both delicious and affordable.
Instead of traditional paper menus, you’ll need to scan a QR code at the table or check out the clear, easy-to-read menu on the wall. They keep the options concise, making ordering a breeze.
What I ordered:
▶️ Spicy & Sweet Tuna Kimbap 참치 김밥 – $9.99
The tuna had a creamy texture, wrapped up in perfectly cooked rice and seaweed. The size of each roll was about 1.5 times bigger than your usual kimbap—definitely not a one-bite deal!
▶️ Fried Chicken Tenders 치킨 텐더스 (4-5 pieces) – $13.99
I chose the chicken tenders during their lunch special. These tenders were made with chicken breast, so I felt healthier and lighter. I paired them with sweet garlic sauce (스윗갈릿), which had a hint of mustard and a touch of sweetness—definitely a unique flavor that you won’t find at traditional Korean restaurants, but it was so good!
▶️ Rose Pasta 로제파스타 – $17.99
Rose pasta is super popular in Korea, and even available in convenience stores too! The sauce is a mix of red (tomato) and white (cream) sauces, often available as a pre-made mix at grocery stores (just look for “cream cheese rose sauce”). Every restaurant seems to have their own take on this dish.
In Korea, it’s usually slightly spicy, but although Chan Chan marked it as spicy, I didn’t really taste any. The portion was massive— enough for 2-3 people to share!
The plating here is on point, with thoughtful presentation that’s perfect for photos. Even the dishes and containers have a more modern, stylish vibe compared to typical Korean restaurants.
The banchan (side dishes) were lighter in flavor, with kimchi and pickled radish that weren’t too sour, making them more suited to international palates.
Oh, and a clean restroom is always a bonus for me (yes, I’m one of those people who always checked the bathroom cleanliness! ).
Chan Chan is definitely on my list for a return visit! They also have another location in Irvine.
If you’re craving traditional Korean food, you might have to head over to Garden Grove or a little bit north for more variety, but Chan Chan is a great option for something a little different in the Huntington Beach area.

“Went for something different in Fried Chicken, and I was not disappointed. The chicken is crispy outside and tender inside. I got a half chicken with the Secret Sauce. Enjoyed it greatly. I had it with curly fries, a pretty good large portion. There was enough for two. I tried to finish all the chicken and failed.
The value is good.
I'll have to come back and try some more of their menu.“

“This lunch price is reasonable. These days, Korean food prices are way overpriced.
I went there for lunch recently for the first time in years, and the prices were the same as 7–8 years ago. The free side dishes were also delicious.
These days, dining out is so expensive that it's hard to choose a restaurant, but I think the owner made a very wise decision. When you live generously and share with others, you'll be blessed and make plenty of money.
They’ve brought back the original flavors, and the service was great too. I’ll always be happy to open my wallet for food like this. Try having a bowl of soondae soup with a shot of soju, like you see on Korean TV — it’s the true taste of Korea.
Pork soup not familiar to foreigners
Koreans often eat it and often eat it as a snack with alcohol.A clean and relatively friendly restaurant. Kimchi and Kkakdugi are delicious
It is a food very closely related to Korean culture.“

“This place is great. We were greeted by them and they asked us to wait while they set the table. We happened to catch them at a good time because as soon as we finished ordering the food, the restaurant filled up quickly. The food didn't disappoint. Sometimes what looks good on Instagram doesnt translate in real life. The boys wanted Katsu so they ordered 2 but we honestly only need 1. Pro tip, if you ordered the Katsu and the garlic su yuk, eat the katsu first. Once you have a bite of the 10 hours sous vide pork belly, everything else just tasted tough. Trust me... i was loving the tender pork katsu until I bit into the sous vide pork. After that there was no going back. By the way, the bathroom is clean which is a plus
Kid-friendliness: yes“

“The quality of the pork belly was excellent, and the service of having the staff grill the meat for us made the experience very comfortable. The variety of pickled side dishes was impressive and paired perfectly with the meat. Both the doenjang-jjigae and kimchi-jjigae were absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself was spacious and very clean. One thing I wish was that the staff could have been a bit friendlier, but overall, if you’re looking for authentic Korean-style pork BBQ, I’d definitely recommend this place.“

“Wanted to go somewhere that offered raw marinated crab and I have to tell you that this plans has it and does not disappoint. It tasted so fresh, a little sweet and spicy but oh my lanta it’s to die for. If you’re wanting to try it I definitely would come here if you’re in the area. I also got bulgogi as another dish and the food offered here are nicely portioned. Pretty big, flavorful and soooo good. Service was quick, great and sweet. It is a small little place but I would recommend calling if you were to bring a party of probably 6 or more. Inside it’s like a cute little dine in and not a huge restaurant. The atmosphere is welcoming and warming.“

“If you’re craving authentic Korean comfort food, Gamjagol is the place to be! We indulged in their signature Gamjatang—a hearty pork bone soup with tender meat that falls off the bone, rich broth, and perfectly cooked potatoes.
We also enjoyed the Bossam, which are pork slices boiled in a flavorful brine to perfection and served with cabbage. The combination of the tenderness of the meat and strong flavors was delightful!
The generous portions and authentic flavors combined with the amazing service truly made our dining experience memorable. If you’re in the Buena Park area, don’t miss out on this cozy hidden gem!“

“Very tasty! I got the soy sauce fried chicken and soon tofu soup with dumplings. I would eat another plate of chicken right now if I had it. I'll probably try it a level or two spicier next time, but your mileage may vary.“

“Overall solid value for the price and although the sauces lacked flavor I will say the beef was smoky and tasty! The spicy pork wasn’t bad, I felt the plate portions were ok for the price. If the sauces got a bit better flavor and less vinegary for the spicy one I would’ve been more pleased. But it’s a great atmosphere and awesome friendly service. Easy to do for a quick lunch!“

“I came here for lunch because I thought they had kimbap, but they don't have it anymore lol. Instead of kimbap, they sell yubus. It's also one of those places where you can pick a pack of instant ramen and cook it there. It's pretty cool tbh and places like this where you cook instant ramen and eat there are trendy now. I think it's because those videos where people eat at Korean convenience stores are going viral haha.
At first, I was only going to try the yubus. They were really good - I'm glad they had these instead of kimbap. I had the crab meat ubu, the creamy spicy tuna ubu, and the fresh salmon ubu. The fish was very fresh and delicious. And they pile the fish on so much too. I liked all three so much that I can't choose a favorite. The prices are a little higher than at Atoyubu, and they have less variety. But I think that Ubu Ubu yubus are just as good if not better. If anything, I like the sashimi ones better than at Atoyubu because Ubu Ubu gives you more fish. Also there's much less of a wait.
I couldn't resist also trying an instant ramen too. I picked out a Cream Carbonara Buldak ramen with a raw egg as a topping. The lady working there was so nice and helped me use the machine to cook my ramen. She gave me advice on how to best cook the carbonara and even drained the water for me. The cream carbonara Buldak ramen was very yummy. It was spicy and creamy and the raw egg made it even creamier. I will say that all the ramen packets are $7 here, which I think is high because you can go to Hmart or any store and buy the same thing for like $1-2. I don't think eating it in the store really added much. Sure, you can add toppings but you have to pay extra for the toppings too hahaha. It was fun though, so maybe that's the appeal? And they did give me a free drink on the house so maybe it was kinda worth it. I lowkey might pay for it again though hahaha it really was fun. And the yubus are really good.“

“Great spot for Korean bbq but they're not an all you can eat spot, nor do they have combos. Everything is a la carte so it can get pricey. But the food is good. Oh, and always ask for fried rice after the meal. You have to pay for it but it's worth it. Side note, ground gets slippery so wear something that grips. Greasy floors.“

“If you want the kind of Korean comfort food that wraps you in a big cozy blanket and whispers, “You’re home now,” Jang Mo Jip is the place.
Nothing flashy, no Instagram gimmicks — just steaming bowls of hearty soup, beautifully chewy dumplings (I LOVE their dumplings, they’re my ride-or-die here), piles of fresh kimchi, and honest, satisfying flavors.
The atmosphere is no-frills but exactly what you want when you’re craving soul-warming sul lung tang or a healing haejang guk.
The banchan? Solid, classic, and plentiful. You leave full, happy, and with the kind of quiet joy only a truly good meal can give.
Not trying to impress, just trying to feed you well — and that’s what keeps me coming back.
Comfort food at its finest.“
