“First time here, and we were thoroughly impressed by the excellent service, comfortable seating, and—most importantly—the food! The BBQ Spare Ribs were incredibly tasty, and it was a thoughtful touch when our server brought over handi-wipes for our sticky hands. The Veggie Egg Rolls were nice, crunchy, and packed with flavor. For entrees, both the Beef with Broccoli and the Shrimp Chow Fun were excellent—and they tasted even better as leftovers the next day! Prices are very fair. We will definitely be returning! ✅“

“Fantastic food from the scallion pancake, seaweed and tofu salad, fried rice, sautéed broccoli, and the most stand out - the Dan mein noodles. All of this was a perfectly filling meal for two people.

The service is fantastic and Mason was the best server we could ask for. So friendly, helpful, and kind.

Worth a stop in if you’re in the area. They get pretty busy at peak times so worth coming a little before or after the main lunch and dinner rushes.“

“One of several new malatang places in the area, Bruin Bowl is not a large place, but they seem to have a solid selection of meats, veggies, noodles, and seafood despite their modest size. Both the bone broth and the chicken/fish maw soup bases are pretty tasty too. Excellent option if you're in the area.“

“Needed to edit my online order but couldn’t after placing it, so called the restaurant and luckily was able to get some quick, easy assistance from David! He was able to substitute the item for me without issue. When I arrived, he confirmed my whole order for me and visually showed me that everything was there. Portions and quality were great. “I have mixed feelings of calling this place overpriced, but I think it is overpriced.

Because if you only get a bowl of rice and one single dish, you can maybe walk out with spending only $10-15 for a meal, which is decent. But if you start even thinking about trying a few more dishes out you are easily going to spend $20 or even $30 for robot-made Chinese food (The food is, in fact, very good.)

But I feel the financial benefit of reducing labor cost by partially replacing human labor with machines, is not brought down to the consumers as much. At least that’s how I felt after paying $30 for a rice bowl and three small side dishes.

This is one of those Chinese places that opened when Adam was a lad and hasn't changed its approach since. I'd pay the chef whatever they wanted to stay, keep the service staff, keep the decor, and above all else, keep the menu. “OMG!! The food is so clean!! I highly recommend the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Green Beans. The Beef Chow Mein is Killer. They have Imported Japanese beer that is hard to get anywhere else. “I had a great experience at P.F. Chang’s, and a big part of that was Jessie. He’s honestly dope, he really goes out of his way to make sure customers feel respected and valued. You can tell he genuinely cares about the people coming in.

One thing that stood out to me is how he remembers returning customers and even pays attention to their favorite orders. That level of attention and consistency is rare, and I respect that a lot.

On top of that, the whole staff, waiters and waitresses, are very respectful, friendly, and helpful. They make sure your experience is smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.

“The food is fantastic. Everything was fresh and tasted fantastic. Better than any other Chinese restaurant I've tried in LA. Also, their egg rolls are TRUE egg rolls like you find back on the East Coast, not the whimpy pinky-sized spring rolls. I ordered takeout, and the staff I interacted with both over the phone and in person were friendly and accommodating. Will be a repeat customer.“

“I used to come here years ago. I worked basically a few doors down at the Dispensary. I haven’t been around in years but I was over in the area and I stopped by. The stand out here is the Spicy Orange Chicken!!! It was perfectly fried and the jalapeños were the perfect complement. The noodles had a great chew to them and my two other sides had a lot of flavor. I went with teriyaki chicken and mushroom chicken.
There are chili oils on the counter and sriracha to take to your table. This is one of the hole in the wall places that I love.“

“The restaurant was empty but had a few people picking up food, the food was great, it was a little dark inside just natural lighting which bugged out my friend. The ladies attending us were very nice and attentive . Would definitely come back if I'm in the area.“

“We’ve been to Dan Modern Chinese a few times now, and it’s been consistently great every single visit—which is why we keep coming back.

We usually go for the Dan Mein with short rib (still a favorite!), but this was our first time doing takeout and trying the Dan Mein with shrimp—and it did not disappoint. The noodles were still perfectly cooked, the shrimp were plump and flavorful, and everything held up really well even to-go.

We also ordered the Mapo Tofu with pork, which was just as good as we remembered—rich, silky, and packed with that signature spicy, numbing kick. And the spicy oxtail noodle soup was a standout again, with deep, bold flavors and incredibly tender meat.

We added some steamed dumplings and xiao long bao too, and they were a great addition—fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Even as takeout, they held up nicely and rounded out the meal perfectly.

Overall, whether dining in or ordering out, Dan Modern Chinese continues to impress with its consistency, quality, and bold flavors. Already looking forward to our next visit!“

“I ate there yesterday, 03/06, with one of my bff’s, and the dining experience is consistently excellent. Smiley servers and helpers.

Before I get into my helpful hints, I need to single out Allison(Allie), our server, who was pleasant, thoughtful, and very attentive. She is a happy soul who seems to enjoy being servicful. I would be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge Haylie, the only female manager that I have seen onsite. She is amazing. I am not being hyperbolic; she is genuinely committed to ensuring you have a memorable and special dining experience. She stopped by our table a few times to check on us and make sure there was nothing more she could do to improve our dining experience. This is the only restaurant where I have experienced so much attentive service and positive energy, along with consistent food. It’s five-star dining—my helpful hint, especially if you’re a vegetarian or vegan and big on the veggies. If you have appetizers, order them first by themselves, and then, when you’re ready for your main dishes, have your server put them in second after finishing your appetizers. That way, you ensure that your second course isn’t sitting on your table. They’re so efficient that the food comes out so quickly that you’re still eating your appetizer, and the veggies are getting cold. Hope this review encourages you to try it. Their togo packaging is top tier. Insulated bags and followed the instructions I put in the notes.

Family is sick right now so no grocery shopping and no cooking. We rarely order Chinese because of togo quality sometimes but today we were craving.

Super glad we chose here. The food was delicious, it came hot and ready to eat, no reheating needed. The chicken dishes were really good and not just all breading. Flavor great and not too greasy. The bbq pork chow fun was better than expected. Full on pork slices so tender and not dry! And we shared the hot sour soup, but i ate most of it. It was so good!

When we feel better and are up for chinese again, definitely will try this place in person.“

I got the walnut shrimp and it had the best crunch I’ve ever had in this type of dish. My lunch all came along with pancit aka noddles, rice, and a buchi. All for 10 dollars. All delicious.“

I was here often around the end of 2019.
I remember they used to have good chicken wings. I haven't been here since then untill today, and I won't be here maybe for years atleast since I eat almost everywhere.

By the way... if you're on a budget, this place is a good place to eat. Their portion is generous and the foods are good. The Chinese lady who take your orders, scoop the foods, and charge you on the register has been very nice everytime I visit this place, doesn't matter how long she hasn't seen me, she's always kind.“

“No dine in so I won’t review service and atmosphere. Crab Rangoon was good. Orange chicken was fairly good but some pieces had more orange flavor than others. Black pepper beef had lots of vegetables and would have preferred more beef, flavor was good but could have been more peppery. Xo sauce string beans didn’t have much flavor, but I tasted the sauce in the bottom of the container and it was good so maybe the beans need to marinate more. I’ll try it again tomorrow and see if it tastes better. So, all in all, I’d say the food is kind of average.“

Best thing so far about this spot though? They have Char Siu, it's one of my favorite dishes and I've been struggling to find it here.
