“We love the peanut butter pie. Our favourite. Be good to offer one with oreo crust. Next best is the orange cake. It is awesome! The chocolate is also awesome and so is the strawberry. However the lemon is flavourless. Customer service could improve...the young girl serving us was always in a hurry, and one time refused to accommodate us with orange cake slices even though there were orange cakes in the fridge that could have been sliced up. It was 2 in the afternoon, so still a lot of time to sell more orange cake slices the rest of the day. A big however.....coffee is Kureg but u r charged barista pricing!!! Signifying this would b upfront as I find it deceiving and a rip off.“
“As a Philadelphia raised guy, I am super happy with the quality of the food and theme of the restaurant. My Pizza Steak Sandwich was great and we enjoyed the appetizers (Pretzels and Pierogis). This is my favorite sit down spot to visit when I go down to visit my families house on the island. Imported Amoroso Rolls makes the experience enhanced.Parking: When parking is available, it’s convenient. But when it is during busy hours it may become scarce.“

“I wanted to be able to give a higher rating as the food, the location and overall vibe here is amazing. An art deco culinary experience in one of the most serene settings in Florida. However, the service staff, in particular our server was beyond terrible. A foul attitude and no professional server skills whatsoever. From the fact that she never asked my wife and I if we wanted another drink, to not giving us a kids menu even though we came with our 18 month old.The restaurant has a beautiful waterfront walkway and so my wife and I went to take pictures. Instead of understanding that this is common for guests to do, our server thought we were leaving entirely and chased us down. Why don’t toy worry if we have enough to drink or are ordering dessert instead of thinking we were just leaving.To the management, you need to address a cancer to your business with servers like this. Just terrible and if we’re do go back I worked refuse to be served by this amateur with a terrible attitude and no ability to understand what professional hospitality means.“

Arriving around 10 o'clock results in about a half hour wait that's a guesstimate there's six on the waitlist right now. But it moves quickly. The seating was a little cramped, but we knew going in that it was going to be a tight fit since the place was described as a "nook" in the description I read beforehand. After the manager called 911 for us, she helped with the 9 month old baby in our party while I helped my mother. She stuck with us until the ambulance arrived. “We went in early December on a weeknight, we made a reservation, it turned out. It wasn’t really that busy, about half full perhaps. We were seated immediately at an intimate table near the window in the far room room. Very quaint dining room. Formal. Our waiter was very attentive. We got a bottle of wine. It was a small kitchen out in the dining room, where they would prepare Caesar salad and some flambé dishes. My wife’s cousin recommended this place, the duck was highly recommended, I had it, and it was absolutely delicious. After dinner, we went upstairs to the separate dessert room and got a great presentation on the desserts that they had that night. I had the Keylime pie. It was delicious. A little Baileys on the rocks has a nightcap.“

The Grouper sandwich came highly recommended. We’ve been eating them all week at different restaurants and every year we come down on different parts of the Gulf. This one ranks at the top! Our waitress explained “he” catches, cleans, fillets and hand breads each fillet. There is a different type of breading for each type of fish according to the type. Gotta try if you want fresh grouper done right!“

“This place has one of the best atmospheres on the island. Very casual and laid back. Live music is always good. Whatever side of the street you’re on it’s just a good time to be here. Food is average and service at a table can be a bit slow because of how busy it gets. However the bartenders when you’re sitting at the open bar are quick to get you your drink. Highly recommend for a good time.“

And the service was fabulous, even helping us with our next stop on our west coast FL explorations. I can't say enough about the atmosphere, if my wife could rate it she would say it's a 10 out of five. And I would have to agree with her. I also thing you guys will agree unless your one of those people that dosent like sand, sunshine, and good food. Oh, and parking was plentiful in a lot across the street and it was free. There are a few locations in Bradenton and 1 in Sarasota and over the thousands of times we've eaten at Basil's, I would say there are only a few times where maybe the chicken was dry or we were not satisfied. It is a great family owned local restaurant with flavorful flame broiled chicken and the sides are great. I always get Mashed potatoes and gravy and hubby always gets Mac n Cheese. He loves the chicken salad on a pita.“
