“Not sure why I waited so long to try Beso. Table of 5, tried 12 different dishes. Each offering was a hit. There was nothing that was just ok. We also tried all of the sangrias, each was very unique and we struggled to find a favorite with those too; each drink was so interesting and good. Some favorites the liver mousse (never thought I’d say that), anything chimmichuri, the artichokes, the croquettes… honestly I don’t think you can go wrong here. We also slide the seasonal paella, chicken tikka masala, wonderful and actually lighter than I expected which was welcomed. We ended the night with their flan and it’s honestly the best I ever had. Service was great. We kept our server, Matt, busy running plates and he really helped us pick some great dishes. The owner, Jason, spent some time at our table and we really learned what the restaurant was about. The night was a great way to share an experience with family and friends. Can’t wait to go back!”

“Wow Wow Wow! Absolutely delicious and authentic Italian food! I never order pasta from a pizza joint... I'm way too serious about my pasta. I took a chance on Capo as I'd had a slice of their eggplant pizza and it was fabulous. I orded the rigatoni bolognese, and requested penne as a substitute. It was heaven. The sauce was perfect - the amount of garlic was subtley handled as was the rest of the seasoning. No bitterness and not too sweet either. You can tell the sauce had been cooked awhike and not rushed. The meat was high quality and the coupe de gras was to burrata! A huge helping of cheese right in the middle of the dish. The serving was huge... I only needed it for myself and I got 3 meals from it. Of course as all pasta lovers know it was even better the second day. I had the good fortune to be offered a meatball to try by the owner. I went back the next week for an order of meatballs and tried the gnocchi. Highly highly highly recommend giving this place a try!!!”

“Ka Papa is a true gem serving the vegan community of south Florida! These guys clearly are experienced in working with plant cuisine: the tastes brought forward in their dishes speak for themselves. I had the vegan escargot appetizer which was surprisingly buttery, rich & appetizing! We also had a fettuccini & mushroom dish which was to die for & the recommended plant protein steak with mashed potatoes - one of the best vegan steaks I have had in my entire life (vegan since 1992, so somewhat of a veteran vegan here). We had cake & ice cream for desert & felt like we flexed the menu heartily. For a weeknight the place was busy & service was on point, I can’t express how much I genuinely appreciated the terrific experience at Ka Papa!”

“Absolutely the BEST ice cream around. As a family we drive an hour nearly every week to eat Jake's ice cream...YES, it's that good! Incredibly kind owner and staff as well, this place is a must visit if in the Sarasota area (and beyond!) Once you've tasted Jake's ice cream it's hard to ever eat anything else, he's raising the standards for homemade ice cream with every flavor - although we all have our favorites we've never tried one we didn't like!! (My personal favorite is Salty Turtle)”

“I It’s so unexpected to eat at a restaurant that truly blows you away but tonight we experienced just that. We ate at Djonisi’s Restaurant and let me tell you, it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The server gave us his name - Djonisi of course, it’s his family restaurant! And his mother was cooking tonight - we suspected we were in for a treat. Everything, and I mean everything, we had was delicious and cooked with love. The grilled octopus, may be the best we’ve ever had. PeiThe eggplant, feta red pepper, and taramosalata dips, and dolmades, the lamb chops were incredible. And the grill for two! They brought a mini chaffer to the table to keep it warm, perfect. Baklava and custard pie for dessert. We took home almost half the food the portions were so big. The lemon potatos and the tomato rice served with each meal - just proves they know exactly what they are doing. Amazing Greek food, such a nice Greek family, super clean and priced well. We will be back. Once we make some room in our bellies from this feast! And I’m Greek… I’ve been eating this food my whole life so you can trust me, I’m a professional 😂”

“Wow! What an impressive evening at every level. Do not hesitate and book this restaurant for your next food adventure. The moment you walk into this establishment, you know the vibe is cool and these people know their food & spirits. The food is incredible and different than the typical Sarasota restaurant that has the same boring food offerings. I was impressed with the Iberico pork dish and unusually amazingly flavored vegetables and spices that accented the smoky, tender pork. The yuca side dish was similar to a potato but more flavorful and crispier mixed with an addition of corn, pickled cabbage and other vegetables. I haven't found a dish that impressed me more in recent years. The crispy salmon was a "oh wow" moment for my friend, who hails from the Pacific Northwest as do I, where Washingtonians know a thing or two about salmon. This restaurant provides your palate something different and if you're a veteran of dining out constantly, this is a welcomed change from the ordinary. The New York steak included an amazing demi glaze exploding with flavor and had the perfect consistency which can be a challenge to make right but State Street Eatinghouse + Cocktails got it right. I highly recommend the fried Brussell sprouts appetizer as they were a flavor explosion in our mouths. The bacon amplified the sprouts with the accompaniment of the balsamic glaze. My friend's husband and mine, who usually don't like this vegetable, were pleasantly surprised and ate more than the obligatory "try one" bite. State Street Eating House + Cocktails is owned by the same people that introduced us to tapas restaurant "Beso", which I recently tried, and awarded it my "Best Restaurant in Sarasota" award. This restaurant belongs in the "Restaurant Hall of Fame" of Sarasota or even US restaurants. I love it! My waiter, Dana, was super attentive and impressive. His vast knowledge of the drink and food menu was spot-on and his candor and expertise added to the whole evening's experience. What an amazing restaurant! I can't wait to book my next reservation and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Cheers! Dietary restrictions: I appreciate they were mindful of my cow's milk allergy which makes eating out difficult since most dishes have butter and/or cheese. “We had a family gathering catered by Dolce Italia and everything was absolutely amazing! We had trays of the Trenne Dolce Italia with sausage, an eggplant dish and homemade pasta with meatballs, which was absolutely delicious. The Mista salad was beautiful, fresh and the perfect compliment to the meal. The process was easy thanks to Matthew’s suggestions and the food was hot, packaged well and ready to be served.”

“Had a yet again wonderful dinner experience there this past Saturday. The food was great, bested only by the wonderful service and welcoming atmosphere. I called them this morning in search of my credit card that I was frantically looking for. I believe it was the owner who answered, and even though they were closed at that time, volunteered himself to go the restaurant to see if my card was there. He called me within a half hour that it was there. He waited until I got there to give me the card. He was an absolute gem to do this of his own accord. I can’t thank him and his wonderful restaurant enough!”

“Took a leap of faith on this restaurant on a one day visit to Sarasota with a dear friend. Downtown location puts Selva Grill right in the heart of a very nice part of the city away from the tourist area. Nice bar with great bartenders and superbly crafted drinks. We sat just off the bar at a window and enjoyed watching the place fill up as our dinner progressed. Our server, Eric, was OUTSTANDING. Attentive to our needs and requests, kept our water glasses full and paced our meal so we could savor every course. Appetizers and Ceviches are incredible and our Sea Bass and Lamb chop entrees were a feast for eyes and palate. We will happily drive from Naples to Sarasota again soon just to enjoy this great venue.”

“Amazing sundown experience. Started my afternoon at the Tiki bar which was a good call. They were short staffed and helping with orders on the beach. Though Solo, it was a semi quiet bar family and children friendly. Shout out to (Joe) who attended to me and was very attentive. After my meal I went to lounge. Beach waiters were attentive as well i.e water bucket and umbrella etc. I felt well attended to though I did not require much. I want to applaud management towards the etiquette and team spirit the men and women had. I could hear many complaints of orders being skipped or taking too long, yet felt the crew did thier best by compensating in other area's. I do have to say to update the beach lounge chairs they are very uncomfortable.”

After only a few minutes, a very polite young man "presented" me with super fresh sausage egg biscuits & hot hash browns! Mind you, our expectations are high because we've become accustomed to over the top Indian flavors and varieties. Since here we've tried 3 places. One was terrible the other 2 were ok. Today, we found our new go to spot for Indian on Fruitville and Honoree called Royal Peacock. Food fresh, great taste and aroma, impeccable service, not over the top pricing and a clean pleasant atmosphere. We had Palak Panere mild and chicken Vindaloo spicy, both white and saffron rice, along with butter nane. Don't waste your time at the others this is the real stuff. JK”

“We had dinner at Siegfried's Restaurant on Feb. 26th - our third meal there and we always leave with big smiles on our faces. The schnitzel and sauerbraten are both excellent, as are the sides and desserts. The staff is warm and engaging and we were so happy to meet and speak with the chef/owner. The restaurant is in one of the cozy-looking cottages on Fruitville Rd and is the perfect setting for this authentic German restaurant. It is busy but has a nice ambiance, excellent food, and excellent service. Ariel, our waitress, did a fine job. The steaks were cooked as ordered. Entrees came with salads and a side. The Filet and Lobster Tail with sides of Mac and Cheese, the Filet with salad and a sweet potato, and the Salmon and Shrimp with salad and a side of Brussel sprouts were all delicious. I would not hesitate to return.”

The table was nicely decorated with a card signed by the entire staff and rose pedals were so beautiful spread across the table. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. From the lobster escargot appetizer to the dry aged ribeye to the huge sides of pancetta corn and Gruyère au gratin potatoes everything was on point. Best steak we have had in our 41 years and best service as well. Forget other steakhouses and come to Hyde Park.”

The schnitzel and sauerbraten are both excellent, as are the sides and desserts. The staff is warm and engaging and we were so happy to meet and speak with the chef/owner. The restaurant is in one of the cozy-looking cottages on Fruitville Rd and is the perfect setting for this authentic German restaurant. Be sure you make a reservation and be prepared to enjoy a fantastic German meal!”

You have to try the croissants and baguettes which are freshly prepared daily. The crepes and sandwiches are superb as well as the desser pastries. I strong recommend this restaurant. I took a chance on Capo as I'd had a slice of their eggplant pizza and it was fabulous. I orded the rigatoni bolognese, and requested penne as a substitute. It was heaven. The sauce was perfect - the amount of garlic was subtley handled as was the rest of the seasoning. No bitterness and not too sweet either. You can tell the sauce had been cooked awhike and not rushed. The meat was high quality and the coupe de gras was to burrata! A huge helping of cheese right in the middle of the dish. The serving was huge... I only needed it for myself and I got 3 meals from it. Of course as all pasta lovers know it was even better the second day. I had the good fortune to be offered a meatball to try by the owner. I went back the next week for an order of meatballs and tried the gnocchi. Highly highly highly recommend giving this place a try!!!”

“We celebrated our 41st anniversary here last night and we were thoroughly impressed. First of all the dining room is beautiful, the staff was amazing and we were served by the manager and general manager. The table was nicely decorated with a card signed by the entire staff and rose pedals were so beautiful spread across the table. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. From the lobster escargot appetizer to the dry aged ribeye to the huge sides of pancetta corn and Gruyère au gratin potatoes everything was on point. Best steak we have had in our 41 years and best service as well. Forget other steakhouses and come to Hyde Park.”
