“This was one of the best meals we had on our Hawaii trip and I wish we couldve returned. We ordered the Shrimp nest appetizer, Mapo tofu, and Banana flower salad. You could really tell everything was prepared with care and the flavors were delightful. I particularly enjoyed the refreshing balance of herbs in the banana flower salad, the warm earthy spice of the Mapo tofu, and the shrimp nest had a crispy outside yet rippy wrapped noodle texture that was so unique! Never had anything like it before. Perfectly filling portions, great value, and a family owned vibe with friendly service! So glad we decided to try it!!!“

“We celebrated a big anniversary at Pai and WOW - they made it extra special. We did the four course menu with wine pairings. The service was top notch. The food was inspired, creative, delicious, and locally sourced. Though the portions of each dish looked small, it was more than enough food and so delicious you wanted to eat every bite! The wine pairings were spot on, absolutely perfect with our chosen courses. The space has such a lovely vibe - clean and modern, but comfortable and well appointed. There really isn't another dining experience quite like this on the island. Justine and Kevin have created such a beautiful place with incredible food and service. Pai is definitely a must-try restaurant. We will definitely be back.“

“Hidden gem near Sand Island and exactly the kind of place we never would have found without a little extra time before our flight. The second you walk in, you know it’s where the locals eat. No tables? Didn’t matter one bit. This was probably the best food we had all week in Hawaii.

The loco moco was hands down the best of our trip and somehow also the best price we saw anywhere. The beef patties were clearly homemade and absolutely delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried rice was unbelievably good. Gravy- fire.

Was it a little grungy looking inside? Sure. But the kitchen looked clean, the food came out hot and fresh, and honestly that just made us trust that it was going to be amazing. The kind of spot you remember long after the fancy tourist restaurants fade together.

“Probably the best fried chicken that I have EVER had. If they were to offer a fried chicken plate, chicken sandwich, or just a bucket of chicken I think that I would eat here every day of the week. The fried chicken biscuit and gravy was delicious, but give me just the chicken. I can't rave enough about it. The service here was excellent, very friendly and thoughtful of the entire party. However, it was a bit slow. And don't expect your food to come out quickly. This is a small operation so expect freshly cooked for the table. Parking is the biggest complaint. That said, the headache of finding parking and the longer wait time is worth it for that chicken. An absolute must go for anyone.“

Cannot recommend her cakes enough for those who have gluten, dairy, and other dietary needs/ preferences. We had the double layered strawberry guava cake with coconut icing. “There's not enough space to right the good things about this place. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted and acknowledged by everyone, including the sushi chefs. Water and drink order is perfectly timed. Whether you order teishoku complete meals or sushi, the flavor and and portions are spot on. If you choose to sit at the sushi counter, the spread is just amazing. From white fish, tuna, to shellfish and sometimes even a fruit or plant to cleanse the pallet. I would recommend reservations as this place is always busy. Takeout is also very good!“
