“I wish I had known about them when they opened. Everything is flavorful and reasonably priced. The meat looks like meat and the fish looks like fish, if that’s what you need.“

“Rumor around town was that there were 2 Ladies creating a buzz. They've been around for a while putting smiles on people's faces. Locals and tourists alike kept talking about these Two Ladies in the Kitchen. A song came to mind, "Hey, good lookin',... sweet baby... what you got cookin'?" & OMG these Sweat Treats are Delicious!!! I have to confess, my only experience with Mochi Mochi, a Japanese rice cake, is the Trader Joe's version. Now, don't get me wrong... TJ's has a good Mochi IceCream delight. However, once you taste the Authentic Mochi (もち, 餅) delights and the creative variations from Two Ladies Kitchen, you'll understand why all these people are raving about them. “Mahalo nui au i nā wāhine o ka Papa'a Palaoa Bakery ma Hilo, Hawai'i. They assisted me in providing a whole lilikoi pie to bring home to San Francisco. They fully wrapped the box in plastic to keep the pie protected, so I could then place it in an insulated bag and surround the box with frozen ice packs. The pie (as well as a cinnamon roll) made it back home just as "hou" (fresh) as when I purchased it, me ka pilikia ole (with no problems), and the pie tastes 'ono loa. I am very grateful for their assistance, and especially their kindness. I highly recommend this bakery to everyone who wants fresh baked goods, but most of all, I am very grateful to the Aloha given by their employees. Mahalo nui loa!!“

“Pizza was good but we ordered 2 pizzas and didn’t get what we ordered. One pizza was white sauce with onions, jalapeño, 1/2 chicken, 1/2 pork. No jalapeño’s, so close. 2nd pizza white sauce with prosciutto, tomato, 1/2 pineapple. We got red sauce with prosciutto and 1/2 pineapple. This was even after we clarified the order twice. The flavor was good but chewy and little smidge on the topping.“

“Is there a hole in the wall establishment that isn't a true dining experience? Puka Puka Kitchen is such an experience. The staff were friendly, the food was tasty, and the atmosphere was cozy. When you're out all day seeing the rest of the island, you just need a place to serve you something familiar and scrumptious. The curry was piping hot with all the right veggies; paired with a quality chicken katsu it made for a decent meal. Take a load off after wandering around the other shops nearby and treat yourself; satisfaction guaranteed.“

“Highly recommend #3 - mixed papaya salad with peanuts. Excellent sauce! It has cucumbers, avocado, tomatoes and papaya. So delicious. The summer rolls with tofu and avocado were also very good, especially with alfalfa and lettuce. Owner is friendly and service was fast. We will definitely come back!Parking: A block from the famous 2 Sisters Mochi place. Nice part of downtown and friendly islanders. Yet not crowded.“

“found this small hole in the wall place on our recent visit to Hilo. wow what a hidden gem of a place! great food and portions for a great price. cash only so keep that in mind. we had the chicken katsu curry special, pork curry with menchi katsu combo plate and kansai style okonomiyaki. no sit down tables at this restaurant so we decided to stop at Lili'uokalani Gardens for a family picnic and relax under a tree by the Waihonu pond. what a perfect place for lunch!“

The shave is like snow- so fine! All the flavors we tried were amazing. Tip: get the ice cream inside the shave ice. We got mac nut and ube -both were incredible.“

“Had lunch here 2/3 days that we were in Hilo, everything was amazing. The Misoyaki Butterfish Salad was fresh and extremely flavorful without being heavy, and the fish melts like butter in your mouth. We also had a cold water scallop special, an eggplant /marinara/pesto/ricotta appetizer (forgot what it's called, oops!) and crab cakes. Everything was great, honestly one of the best places I've eaten at on the entire island. I like to sit at the bar, as I'm a former long time bartender. Sascha is one of the best around, cocktails were, again, among the best that I found on the island, including Kona. Service was top notch, no matter how busy he got, and he took extra time to modify one of the house cocktails so that an elderly gal with sensitive teeth sitting nearby could enjoy it. I would honestly make the drive from Waikoloa just for this, but Hilo has plenty of outdoor activities to offer as well.“

“Friendly service, super hearty and healthy meals that tasted good too. A bit too tart though (some of the pickled stuff). We had the veg burger - tasted good, but very crumbly patty. The tostada and all the fixings tasted great but it was a badly done tostada - the tortilla was not made crisp enough so it was kind of half chewy and difficult to eat.The soup that day was a tomato red pepper soup that was nice on that rainy evening.Vegan ruben with dill / slaw / swiss cheese tasted sharp.Enough options and good quality. In terms of the ambiance - basic and no frills.“

“I was very satisfied with the taste and quantity of the extensive vegan menu, and I kept coming back to it during my stay in Hilo. The coffee was served in a French press and had a mild, light flavor. The interior is casual and bright, and the service is friendly, so it's easy to see why it's so popular.“

I definitely will be back and recommend to anyone looking for great food, value and authentic taste of Hilo. Mahalo guys?“

“Best service and food. Japanese, Korean and American. The room is simple and comfortable for traditional Hilo style. Not too much decorations simple and clean. The aunties that work here have been here for a while and the young female server gives the kindest attentive service. Each time we come here we get something different but my favorite is the Korean menu. Always satisfied. Flavorful affordable and good size portions.“

“Liquid Life checked all the boxes for a lighter (and hydrating!) breakfast before heading to Volcano National Park for the day. Loved the variety of juices available - I went with Purple Passion because I'm trying to fit in as much Liliko'i as possible while on the island; it was delicious and hit the spot. My husband opted for a tropical fruit smoothie and was also very satisfied with his choice. If you're looking for a healthier morning option, you won't be disappointed in opting for Liquid Life. “I could not have a complaint about this place if I wanted to. The food was great, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the service was fast. The prices are a little high, but the portions are pretty large as well! It would probably be difficult to leave here after a meal and still be hungry.“

“Rented a car and drove to the Hilo side of the big island one day. Unfortunately it got really rainy however it forced to find solace "and lunch" at this delicious poke place. Taking up a small unassuming shack right off the farmers market sits Poke n sides. Inside it looks very straight forward in terms of picking your fish and sides but man the flavor hits you in the face. The fish was the freshest we had during our entire trip and the portion sizes were enormous. It was absolutely delicious and definitely stuck out in our mind when we think back to our Hawaii trip“

“I have to say I do like the ice cream they serve here. I choose their ? unicorn twist in a cone. I think it’s a mix of dragon fruit and ube with sprinkles. A little pricy but good for a special occasion. Oddly enough, for a place with pineapple in the name they don’t have many strictly pineapple desserts, in fact I don’t know if they have any ?. In any case what they do have is good. They could use more help there though. There was only one gal working when I went and she was BUSY. Customers just kept coming. She was awesome though, politely helped everyone with a smile. There is a help wanted sign up is anyone is interested ?.“

“Firstly, after missing our comfortable food for 5 days, we came across Kamana Kitchen serving Indian food in the big island. We ordered veg thali and non-veg thali. The portion size is impeccable and they have a great variety of dishes a part of the thali. For the appetizers, they served us veg samosa and pakora as part of veg thali and meat samosa and chicken pakora as part of the non-veg thali. Everything tasted amazing and seasoned to perfection. As part of the main course, we got a plate of 3 curries, aloo matter, palak panner and dal fry as part of veg thali and chicken tikka masala, mutton curry and dal fry as part of non/veg thali with 2 naans (which is 4 pieces) for each thali. Everything given in the main course was served hot and tasted great. Lastly, there was rice kheer as part of the dessert which was out of the world.Highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to eat Indian food at a very affordable price.“

“Compared to other places nearby it’s a 4.5, compared to other cafés it‘s a 3.5 so I think a solid 4 is fair. The beverage were way too sweet and we didn’t ask for added sweeteners, we had Chai and Ube.The avo toast was good, but the bread is very flat and not what I‘d call sourdough. The smoothie bowl was good, but it did look a bit messy.“

“Probably some of the best meals I've had in Hawaii!! Ono wrap is great and the hotdog (topped with sprouts, onion and cucumber) is my absolute fav. Menu options are pretty limited and they do run out, so come early! Everything is super fresh and satisfying, and the entrees come with a selection of fruit which I LOVE. I've also gotten different fruits every time I've visited which is fun and a great way for me to try new ones. You can also get whole coconuts. The shakes and smoothies are to die for. Really really recommend any shake with mac nut ice cream in it, it's so delicious. It's a very small location, but has lots of outdoor seating and is surrounded by nice flat ground if you want to picnic it!Vegetarian options: Hummus and veggie wraps, as well as smoothies and vegan shakes.“
