“There's a warm place in my heart for New China. My family have been customers here since at most the early 2000s, possibly the late 90s (I was young either way). This is the local gem, no frills, oldschool, family run. Even though I live in Michigan now, whenever I'm back in town, I love a chance to have a bite from New China. The fried rice has that wok hei, that mysterious smoke. Portions are generous, and it's always comforting. Eating in, taking out, whatever. New China is the spot, and I miss it all the time.“

The most important thing is that when all restaurants have increased their prices, they can still maintain the set meal for Chinese food for only $9.99, including soup and spring rolls! “I always get the same things when I come here (beef fried rice and sometimes orange chicken), but whenever I do, the food is always delicious. It's always seasoned so well that you don't need soy sauce for the rice. I've been to plenty of Chinese food places and not a lot of them can accomplish that. 10/10 every visit.“

I am a FAN of chinese food, but no where around suburbs and chicago will you find such FRESH food! Veggies are perfectly done, meat is perfectly cooked! Sauce is amazing taste! I had their Happy Family Dish , Chicken fried rice and Khan Pau Chicken .

“It's a bit of an older place, just vibes-wise, but it just means the food there is amazing since the chefs are so familiar with every dish they make. The waiters and waitresses, despite not speaking English as a native language, are all so kind and considerate as well! I highly recommend the Hainan chicken rice and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Also, the pricing is insanely good for the quality of food. Looking forward to going again!“

“I find some of the low reviews here baffling. I think some people may be confusing this restaurant with other Chinese restaurants due to its rather non descript name. Make no mistake, the food here is excellent and punches way above its price point.Coming in the first time I was pessimistic. It seemed your standard pre prepared food menu ready to dish out quickly to the lunch crowd panda express style. I quickly became a huge fan after eating large well prepared portions I would expect from a normal sit down restaurant. “My son graduated college and we wanted to get takeout on a very cold night, dinner in a restaurant to follow. We had not gone to China Star for a very long time, but have been told the new owners have turned it around and they were right. We tried hot & sour soup, fried rice, egg rolls, shrimp with lobster sauce, sweet & sour chicken, and egg foo young. We realized immediately that we ordered way too much, but it was so good, so it was fine. Their food was excellent and the portions were big, so plan accordingly. “Whenever I try a new old style chinese restaurant, I get shrimp with lobster sauce and bbq pork something, like bbq pork fried rice or vegetables, etc.

Shrimp with lobster sauce is a very nostalgic food for me. It was something I tried 15~ish years ago from this small chinese restaurant near work. It was $5.45 lunch specials at the time, and I wanted to try something other than monglian beef, generals Tsao chicken etc.
And i fell in love ever since.

I love brown starch sauce that is made with, and it needs to have black beans and stripes of pork and egg. But some restaurants tend to make this with white sauce with pea and ground pork, or just not enough salt or msg.

Well, this place make it perfectly how I wanted, and less than 9 bucks. You can't beat this deal.
The only thing to critize is that chicken fried rice was not good...it was dry and maybe a day old.

Bbq pork was also really good, cut thick the way I also like it. You can taste rice oyster sauce, and vegetables were cooked well.

It definitely reminded me of the old spot that I loved and will be coming back to try more dishes.“

“We ordered the dinner special last night. This includes an entree, fried rice and an egg roll. I got the shrimp kow, and my husband got mushroom egg foo young. The shrimp kow contained a generous amount of large shrimp and an assortment of veggies in a white sauce, which was highly seasoned. Bok choy, mushrooms,broccoli, peapods, water chestnuts,celery and adorably thinly sliced carrots. I loved it! My husband must have enjoyed the egg foo young...it's all gone! The dinner came in a black takeout container that was divided into two sections.Very nice. The shrimp egg rolls were huge and rolled very fancy! All the food was piping hot and ready for pick up in 15 minutes! The service when ordering and picking up was very courteous and accommodating. Prices were very reasonable!

“This is my favorite place for Chinese I've tried a lot of Chinese restaurants and this one is really good considering Chinese is my favorite food. The prices are reasonabe to. I like the fact that there's not a lot of salt in the food.

Parking: It's a small parking lot but no cars are never in the spaces so easy to run get your food and go. They don't have chairs and tables that's the only thing that's bad cuz I like to sit down once in a while“

“This is my favorite Chinese food in the area due to the portion sizes and flavor. I usually order orange chicken, general taos chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. All very good. It is located in a strip mall so easy access in and out. They will deliver to GE and Lombard for sure. Not sure of other areas but worth asking. The delivery driver is always very nice. The location has 2-3 small tables so it is mostly for takeout. Last time I called in and it was ready for pickup in 20 minutes. Highly recommend.“

“Classic cozy Asian buffet. Crabs offered on Sunday so the whole place is packed. Had a wait time of at least about 20-30 minutes. New crabs came out about 52 minutes after the tray was set. Food was okay for buffet quality. Fair diversity in selection of food. I only go with my parents since it is one of their favorite buffets for the crabs and price. Price was just around 20 per adult before tax. Drinks, other than water, cost extra and you have to ask staff for a refill.“

All I know is I've continued to come throughout their transition and today at lunch was the best I've had. Accept their niche and you'll agree that they earn about 5 stars. Massive takeout biz sometimes gets in the way of the dining room, but not today at lunch. Oh, and the lunch specials are bountiful and served till 3pm. Beef Almond Ding, Fried rice, H&S soup included. Worth adding a traditional egg roll. Prepared, seasoned and rolled perfectly. I'm a sucker for pot stickers and the fried didn't disappoint either.
