“Butcher & the Bear is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels welcoming, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. It strikes the perfect balance between elevated and comfortable.
The food is outstanding. Every dish is beautifully presented and full of flavor, clearly made with care and high quality ingredients. You can tell a lot of intention goes into the menu, and it truly shows. The cocktails are just as impressive and are creative, well balanced, and memorable.
What really sets this place apart is the service. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and warm without ever feeling overbearing. They make you feel genuinely taken care of and excited to be there.
Whether you are going for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends, Butcher and the Bear delivers on every level. Easily one of my favorite spots in Chicago and I will absolutely be back.“

“Insanely great! We just brought foodies from NY to try Trinos who said they “Only wish it was in NY” and “Best meal I’ve had in a long time. Better than great”. Food not only exceptional but so is the staff. Chef Stephen is so creative, kind and knowledgeable. Our server was outstanding. Definitely a special spot in our city! Thank you!“

“Beautiful Birthday dinner here in one of the cabanas. Liked the privacy and obscuridad the cabanas and low lights gave. Flavors of soup , scallops, and rib eye were great. Definitely recommend for a date night or girls night 😍“

“Thanksgiving dinner was so delicious, and we shared some other dishes. The simple lemon cake and a little bit of vanilla ice cream were so good that I didn’t really care for desserts. Our family had a wonderful experience with delicious food!“

“I ate here with my 13 year old daughter 4/11/2026 while attending an event. We loved it. Portions were big and I felt bad that we weren’t able to finish all our food. They had the best coconut cream pie I’ve ever had. Service was just as amazing as the food. Be prepared to spend money it’s worth it though.“

“Tried this place for the first time with a couple of my friends! And My God it was so Good! I ordered a New York Strip, medium, and we all ordered sides to share we ordered mac and cheese, asparagus, and another potato side with crispy cheese on top! My steak came out exactly how I wanted it and it was beautifully charred and so tasty! I can’t wait to come back with my husband and family!! The service was amazing the waiters were so friendly.“

From the moment we sat down, the service set the tone. Aldo, our waiter, struck that perfect balance of polished and genuinely warm. He guided us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations beyond the basics, checked in at just the right moments, and made the whole experience feel effortless without ever being overbearing.
The space itself feels elevated but not stuffy, which is exactly what you want for a power lunch or a long, lingering catch-up. Everything we ordered felt intentional and well executed. The quality is there, the presentation is there, and most importantly, the flavors hold up.
It’s the kind of place where lunch turns into “should we stay for another round?” and suddenly your afternoon looks a lot better than it did before you walked in.

“It's so nice to be out at a restaurant! This location is poppen so be prepared to wait a lil bit. We always sit at the bar and Angela was busy! She was friendly and never stopped moving! Our shrimp was salty to me but my husband at it all.“

“Great comfortable place to rest and eat a delicious meal. They will make whatever you like even if it's not on the menu. Whatever you order it's going to taste delicious!! Great friendly service and large portions of food. I am always taking leftovers home. My favorite is the double cheeseburger with everything. It includes grilled onions, delicious chilli and an egg on top. The egg is cooked the way you like it. I enjoy an over easy egg on top of my burger. OMG delicious!! They also have a gaming room in the back.“

“Came for Chicago Restaurant Week. For the first course, my partner and I ordered the prosciutto and ricotta, which was an excellent appetizer and quite big for one person. In the second course, we ordered the chicken souvlaki and the seafood pasta. The chicken souvlaki was quite bland, but the sides added more flavor. The seafood pasta was fine, but the prawn heads were empty. For the third course, we had the Basque cheesecake and the sorbet trio, both of which were wonderful in terms of flavor and size. The ambience was nice, though the seating was a bit cozy for our taste; it felt as though we were eavesdropping on other people's conversation. Overall, we enjoyed the appetizer and dessert, and were unimpressed with the main course.“

“Extremely polite staff that makes sure you are doing good and have what you need. Prime rib is phenomenal however you have to make sure you get there early. They will run out by 6pm regularly so if that is what you want make sure to get there around 3. Other food is amazing as well tho so you shouldn’t be disappointed“

“Great service, very cozy corner place.
Staff was very attentive and the food was delicious. Well presentation, hot and LARGE portions! All at a very fair price. The coffee was my go too and my daughter enjoyed some apple juice with her Mickey pancakes.
The French toast was perfect, golden and fluffy and the perfect powder sugar coating.
We will be returning , bring back so many memories.“

We celebrated our anniversary and they gave us a cute little card and complimentary champagne and a ice cream dessert. Not to mention the place itself is really beautiful inside a bit dark but still nice.“

“Very crowded for a Thursday night. We had 10 in our party for a birthday celebration. We waited for over an hour to be sat, but afterwards everything went smoothly. Shout out to our server Sam who was very attentive and patient with us. We will return.“

“Our server, JP, was one of the BEST servers we’ve had at Longhorn. He was on top of it. We didn’t even need to wave him down once for refills. He was checking up on us, making sure our food was okay. He served everything with a smile. Genuinely one of the best servers I have seen by far. He not only was on top of our tables in getting things out on time, but also did so for all his tables. 10/10 food, 10/10 serves!!!“
