“First time ordering from this place and I was surprised when I was in their menu Chinese BBQ ribs! They were tender and well seasoned. The rice with chicken was great you don’t need any additional side with it since the rice itself is delicious.“

“Yao Yao in Chinatown is a legit gem. Dropped about $35 for the sour pickle fish fillet and some spicy wontons, worth every penny. The fish was tender, swimming in a tangy, spicy broth that hit all the right notes. Wontons packed a punch too. Place is clean, staff's friendly, and the vibe's chill. If you're into bold Sichuan flavors, this spot's a must. Definitely coming back for more.“

“As soon you walk in you are welcomed and seated quickly. The restaurant is decorated so beautifully and the wine glasses on the table were a nice touch. Very classy!
We actually met Chef Xiong and he is very kind and professional. The food was amazing!!!!! My family and I enjoyed everything.
The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant appeared to be spotless. The menu has a really good selection and we will be stopping by again to try out some new items on it.
Best wishes to you Chef Xiong :)“

“Wonderful lunch, Chinatown was busy but we had a nice quiet lunch here. Not overly busy, which was surprising with the delicious food and fair prices. They had clean bathrooms for guests and the dining room was also nice and clean. They had good AC which was nice because it was so hot outside. The food was wonderful, with great flavors and generous portions. The service was also fantastic, I drank 4 or 5 glasses of ice water during lunch and my glass was never empty it was refilled at an impressive rate. Looking forward to dining here again.“

“I loved the hospitality and service here. My sister had the most incredible wonton/dumpling noodle soup. The portion sizes were amazing, especially compared with the prices. The staff were some of the most kindest people, they made sure we were taken care of the entire time. The restaurant had a family oriented energy, which contributed to the positive atmosphere. There was a kind elderly gentleman that brought me my bag when I forgot it at my table after dinner. 10/10 I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you so much!!“

“We've been here multiple times for the most delicious and authentic dim sum in Chicago. Best we've experienced outside of Chinatown San Francisco. And I gather it's the preferred place for dim sum among Chinese-Americans whom we know too.“

“Came here twice. First time we ordered dry hot pot, it was really good but very oily. Second time we ordered string beans and Kung pao chicken. The string beans tasted very good, but the Kung pao tasted more on the sweet & sour side, not to our taste. Both dishes very oily too. Generally, the food is good, but for the reason of every dish too oily, we probably won't come back too often.“

“I've lived in Chicago for over 70 years. The last time we visited Chinatown was over 10 years ago. We decided to check out Emperor"s choice restaurant on Wentworth/Cermak. The best decision ever. Hank was a awesome waitperson! He even brought out 5 different noodles for me to pick out the one I wanted. From drinks, appetizers, and main entrees, everything was delicious and worth the price which was quite reasonable. We'll be back!“

“This place has great food and is a great value. A few years ago, it was about the same value as all the other Chinese restaurants. Then, those other restaurants chose to jack their prices up 50%. However, Northern Taste did not fall into that greedy trap. As a result, it now not only has really tasty food, but it is also a great deal. In addition, when things aren't right, they are very apologetic and do what they can to make things right. I definitely recommend you try this place, especially the lunch specials!“

“I think this was the owners of Daguan noodles that closed a few months ago, the menu is the exact same with the same workers. Love love love. I was heart broken looking for Daguan noodle and saw that it was closed. Luckily we agreed on this place and realized it was the same place just in a different location and new name ?“

“Uncle Zhang’s is definitely my under the radar Chinese food spot in the city that is highly under rated. Hands down it is the best Chinese food in the city! The eggplant and the sweet and sour pork out of this world! The fact that no place I have been to makes the sweet and sour pork like they do makes them innovators since it’s hands down the best l dish! Most of the dishes are Cantonese style. So, if you like that style give Uncle Zhang’s a try!“

“It’s a clay pot restaurant inside the Park to Shop super market. Still a bit manual payment process. Order at the restaurant and pay upfront at the cashier (grocery store)
It’s a go to for clay pot rice. They added porridge and noodle selections to their menu. But clay pot is a must try, the bbq clay pot is always my favorite.“

“I live in the mid-West now. This place reminds me of home…
The best/authentic 布拉腸粉 (a type of noodle roll I ate when I was a kid ) that I can find! Very thin and smooth!
I also ordered wonton but did not take photo. It was also very good!! 有咬口~ 可以食得出肉餡打左好耐~
Service was quick and nice.
Overall, recommend!“

“A literal hole in the wall, but a hidden gem. I’ve been ordering from here since 2010 and the food has always been delicious. The portions sizes are big enough for two people even if you order a small size. The lady at the window is always kind and happy to help. I definitely recommend ordering from here!“

“This is one of the best affordable hidden gems for Chinese food in the city. Fast, hot, cheap, and always made to perfection. Highly recommend the Shrimp Fried Rice! Ordered a small with delicious vegetable egg rolls and $1.25 almond cookies. Came out to $13 and change total with tax. Not bad in this inflation economy!! Tip: Recommend takeout, as it seems like no one really sits down here.“

“I can't bring myself to gatekeep this place, I've never had a bad meal here. They serve even large groups quickly and have ample seating upstairs as well. The milk tea is great and the specials like the shredded cold chicken are fantastic. Absolutely a cut above all the tourist fare in Chinatown Square, and yet everything is still reasonably priced. Go here, you won't regret it.“

“I went here 4 times in one month, because it really is that good. This is one of the few Chinese restaurants left in Chicago where the "sifu" really knows what they are doing--as in, truly is a master in technique and flavor. Everything I tried, was delicious. Some of their specialties, wide chicken and potato noodles, smoked pork pancakes, lamb dill dumplings, buckwheat dumplings, and crispy duck, are incredible not-to-be-missed dishes. But common favorites like crispy eggplant, salt and pepper shrimp, and shredded potato salad are done superbly here too. It's never too packed, and they are very considerate to families with small children. Be kind to to serving staff, you can tell it really is a family business and language can be tricky. They accidentally took down a lamb dish we didn't order but promptly took it back when the mistake was explained. I am going to keep coming back as often as I can, and make fans out of as many friends as possible.“

“I love traveling to try new food. And places like Sweet Cafe Chicago are what make traveling worth it. The cook at this restaurant in Chinatown knows how to make their dishes delicious and memorable. The prices are unexpectedly affordable for the location. I got the Mouth Fragrant Lamp Chops (17.95), Egg Yolk Chicken Wings (13.95), Teochew Style Dumplings (5.50) and Fish Roe Siu Mai (5.95). I recommend all those dishes. I've never seen dumplings and siu mai that big and only cost that little. The lamp chops and the wings taste really different and delicious and can't be found elsewhere. I hope this restaurant keeps getting great business. They deserve to last a long time and become a staple in Chicago Chinatown. My only small suggestions are having sauce cups available on tables and maybe add a special dipping sauce that complements the egg yolk wings.“

“I dined in with a friend and it was our first time here. We both ordered from their Combination Special Lunch Plate Menu.
I ordered the Kung Po Chicken, which included an egg roll and choice of steamed white rice, fried rice, or noodles. I chose the fried rice and my friend had the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice. I will leave it to him to review his own dish should he so choose.
The server brought the egg rolls in advance of serving our entrees and rice. They were piping hot, the hottest I've ever experienced. The outer crust was crispy, not soft and greasy as many of my prior experiences elsewhere have often been. The inside was chock full of tasty ingredients.
We also had their hot and sour soup, which was quite good. It was a nice sized portion for the price and had an abundance of stock.
When our main dishes arrived, they were piping hot and exceptionally generous servings, both in terms of the entree portions and the rice.
My Kung Po Chicken had plenty of chicken along with other ingredients. It was flavorfully seasoned, and spicy, just as their menu indicated. The fried rice was also good. Complimentary hot tea was also provided, which we enjoyed as well.
All this for $9.15 per plate. [Note their online menu showed $10.95, but it was actually $9.15. Even at $10.95 it would have been a good value, but at $9.15 it was a great value, the best I've experienced in quite awhile.]
This was our first time here and likely not our last. It is real close to Midway Airport, which makes it handy when traveling in/out of town.
The service was friendly and efficient, and things were served up in a timely fashion. I highly recommend you giving it a try. If you do, and you don't find it as good as another place you've been, please comment so I can give your reccomendation a try, as I'm always up for exceptional Chinese cuisine.
Well done, New China Tea! Looking forward to coming back!“

“The lamb skewer was delicious, and so was the hand-stretched noodles with beef in hot & sour sauce. The marinated pork roujiamo was also yummy but the meat was a little dry. On the bright side, the chili oil was a good compliment to the meal and the food got out relatively fast after ordering. Overall, it's an another hole-in-a-wall restaurant in Chinatown that serves food other than the usual Cantonese food like many other places in the area.“

“My family and I traveled to Chicago twice this year and dined at the Asian Cuisine Express both times. The owner, cooks and wait staff were all extremely friendly and made each of our visits a wonderful experience. We ordered Chinese and Japanese food and we also sampled some of their new delicious tacos... everything we tried was absolutely fantastic. We live 300 miles away so we ordered a lot of takeout to bring home with us to share with our friends who didn't get to make the trips. Asian Cuisine express will be a regular stop now for us every time we go to Chicago... we highly recommend everyone tries this restaurant and we can't wait until we visit there again. Thanks to all the great people at Asian Cuisine Express!!!“

“Food is fresh and excellent. I find it to be one of the best in the area. Non greasy, good flavor, service is ok, but when they attend to you, you have their undivided attention. I have been there a few times, and it does not vary. It is also very clean, with large tables and booths.“

“We visited this Chinese restaurant for dinner and tried a variety of authentic Cantonese dishes. There were five of us, and we ordered nine different items to sample. Everything was flavorful and delicious. My personal favorites were the steamed fish and duck. The fish was incredibly fresh and tender, with a soy sauce base and a hint of ginger. The duck was also very flavorful—slightly salty, but it paired perfectly with white rice. The vegetable dishes were equally impressive. Overall, if you’re looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine, this is definitely a place to try!“
