“Quiet hole in the wall spot with some of the best food in the area. The owner is kind and works really hard to make quality food. A lot of Chinese American restaurants can have a sort of mass produced feel and use the same suppliers but you can tell a lot of love and pride goes into the food here.“

“We first tried jianbing in Shanghai, and it was a magical experience to get it made right in front of us in a big, round griddle! And they were soooo cheap, like $2 USD. This place is a wonderful version that doesn't have the same magic, but the flavors are great, and there are many versions to match your cravings. The portion is big and satisfying for lunch or dinner. Friendly staff and nice, comfy clean eat in space.“

“I sat in and got the birria tacos, and they were SO good. The horchata, churros, rice, and beans were delicious and tasted authentic too. I’m extremely picky when it comes to Mexican food, so I don’t say this lightly, but everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. The owner was also incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel really warm and comforting. You can really tell they care about the food and the people who come in.

Definitely recommend giving Taco Verde a try if you’re in Glenview. 10/10! ❤“

“Loved the food here! I went here with friends and family for the first time, very memorable! We went as a larger group of around 12 people. At first the staff told us that we would have to wait 30 minutes, but instead they decided to push a few tables together—so we could sit. It was very kind and thoughtful of them!! I absolutely loved the food, the sanji and dumplings being my absolute favorite! My least favorite dish was the chili pepper chicken, it tasted acidic and me and my friends ate the rice rather the chicken. Its personal preference though, so you might like it! The atmosphere was very nice and personally very cute in numerous ways!“

My favorite is always the kung bow chicken, with potstickers.“

“Genuinely THE best Chinese food I've found in Chicago! Some of the best egg rolls and crab rangoons I've had in my life! Their beef is very good, has a very good quality and flavor. Chicken is good but not my favorite. Just doesn't compare to the rest of the goodness they have. Cash only. “The guy that answered the phone and took my order could have sounded like he was interested or at least a little bit friendly. Other than that I do have to say they're sweet and sour chicken is probably the best around. They're fried rice is also delicious. It's been a while since I was there so when I go back I'll update on the next dish that I get. All in all it's definitely good food.“

“I believed this is my second time coming to this restaurant. I just forgot to leave a review last time. This is a convenient place which close to my Dr's. Office. I love the place coz it's not that busy in comparison to H Mart and other Asian Grocery store that has a food court. Or perhaps today is day after Labor Day, that's why its quite. Plus ASSI got tons of Asian Ready hot/cold foods to go and you can eat at their food court. 🥰, Love the Spicy Noodles i ordered its just the right spice though I ordered extremely hot and spicy stuff. “Kind of expensive. Cabbage with a few drops of bacon $16.. two small spicy hotpot fish didn't taste so fresh sliced into 4 filets $50. Overall atmosphere is good and clean and plates are brought out by robots first before the server put them on the table. Overall probably would go back again but not ordering those two items.“

“Food was excellent, service can use a little bit of work. I asked for extra limes they seemed to intentionally ignore the first request and then upon reminder seemed a bit annoyed. It’s just limes guys overall the food was great would revisit but if I revisit again and service is the same would not go back even though the food was excellent.“

“This was really good, I had the combination rice and the orange chicken and I've had their dumplings in the past, all have been really good. The fried rice had a very good portion size and plenty of protein, the orange chicken was tasty, just your classic American orange chicken. The dumplings were decent even though the wrapper was a bit thick. I'd say this is a really good bang for buck place.“

“I want to thank Tony for bringing the finest and most delicious Szechuan cuisine to the North Shore. I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!“

“This place is one of the best restaurants I've been to in the northern suburbs, it's hard to find good Sichuan style Chinese food but this place has it. I got the twice cooked chili fish was my favorite dish, the Mongolian beef had thick cuts of tender beef and seafood garlic fried rice was full of shrimp scallops mussels and fish. The menu has so much to choose from, I look forward to visiting again“

“I am not local, this is a regular go-to place for a friend, so when I visit with her, she wants to bring me. I had a Chinese Eggplant with chicken dish, flavorful and spicy. Also had some nigiri sushi, all very good. The Black Tobiko was plentiful and fresh. The Tamago and Inari, which are types of sushi that are deceptively simple seeming but really show a chef's knowledge and artistry, were excellent. I'm sure I will go again.“

“Five stars! Our group had lunch here recently and shared some dishes, served by friendly people. The Vegetable Momo was wonderful, light and fresh. I had Nepali Khasi with a flavorful sauce. Others had Chicken Chowmein, Lamb Vindaloo, and Jhol Momo. All were full of taste and the ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared. “We have been going to Chinatown Kitchen since their kids were little and now they are in college. The food has always been fresh and delicious. Takeout area always clean and you can see an area of kitchen same way. We have certain preferences that we do not want put into the food and we are very happy the results and the tastes. Have on occasion, friends, tried other places, but always went back to Chinatown Kitchen. Like a good marriage why go somewhere else if you are happy there?!!!!!“

“Disclaimer— I’m on a hunt for the best peanut butter egg roll in Chicago— the direct descendent of Pekin House..! Thus, my review pertains to their egg roll alone.

The initial ordering phase put me off. They have a nice fancy entrance with 3 booths on the left and a register in the front. They are carry out only and don’t allow eat-in. I really had to beg to get the opportunity to eat there in an empty booth. 4:30pm. I was the only customer. A bit awkward. Egg roll delivered in a bag. Sauces in plastic. Red gooey stuff for the sweet and sour. Generic impotent mustard. After asking I was given a to-go plastic bin to eat on and a plastic fork.

The egg roll was not terrible—but also not great. I was immediately put off by both the grill marks on it as if it was put into a panini machine to warm it up rather than a deep fryer, and some sort of pickled taste… but I finished it. Definitely peanut butter and the right amount. Very little pork or shrimp. The inner mixture was too mushy for my taste! That’s what it is bothering me. I prefer to see cabbage, shrimp, bbq pork, greens. Here it was so blended that it just looked like cookie dough. There’s not much in Highland Park give it a try.“

“I would come here a lot because before I became disabled to do anything I would come here while my clothes are drying and I want something to eat. Chinese food is amazing.

The only thing that they could work on is how cold and hot the restaurant would get and the tables need to be more friendly for overweight people that probably come to the restaurant sometimes or disabled people like myself as I could never get inside the tables properly (I'm big but me being obese isn't the reason that I'm disabled in the first place)

“Craved crab rangoons, so found the closest spot. I purchased an order of crab rangoons (6), a large wonton soup, and a regular bubble tea.
This place actually surprised me with how much I loved it all! The crab rangoon filling is different than I've had before, it was so creamy and they were excellently filled. The bubble tea was delicious and a large size.
The wonton soup was the shining star that prompted me to write a review. I love this soup and always have to prepare myself for the oily feeling in my face. Not only did this soup not leave me feeling salted up, it was so tasty and fresh! The wontons were delicious and the green onion on top was crunchy.
I'll be coming back for more soup, it's worth the drive for me!“
