We come here with our young kids and it never disappoints. Don’t come if you want culinary extravagance. It’s a diner! Kids items come with a free scoop of ice cream and they have a bowl of candy at the cashier desk.“

“Over 20 years ago I started eating at their original Lincoln Park location. Today, their delicious food keeps me coming back time after time. It helps that the restaurant is staffed by the nicest people in the world. When I call for pickup they know my order (lad nar with chicken and Japanese gyoza) and they have it ready in ten minutes. Ten minutes!“

“Hopleaf is a Belgian beer bar and gastropub in Andersonville that has been doing its thing on Clark Street long enough to feel like a permanent piece of the neighborhood's furniture. The back dining room is warm and wood-paneled, the front bar is lively and stocked with a beer list that leans hard into Belgian and European styles, and the whole place operates with the confidence of somewhere that has never felt the need to explain itself.

The CB&J is the sandwich that defines Hopleaf's kitchen: cashew butter, bacon jam, and triple cream brie on toasted sourdough. It sounds like something someone invented on a dare and it's quietly one of the best sandwiches in the city. The Belgian-style mussels are the other anchor, steamed in white wine and shallots with excellent frites alongside, properly done and arriving in a generous pot. The charcuterie and cheese board is the right accompaniment to the beer selection, and the Belgian frites with house-made aioli are the thing most tables order and keep returning to throughout the meal.“

“The Mi bo kho was genuinely the best thing I have ever eaten. I wish i couldve personally thanked the chef. Incredible depth of flavor, huge portion, and an assortment of extras to customize the flavor. My friend got the Bun rieu and loved it just as much, great seafood flavor and light but flavorful broth. We shared the bun xeo and loved that as well, especially with the added herbs and sauce! The entire staff were so kind and welcoming. Do not miss this place if you are in the area! And come hungry- you will want to eat a lot.“

“Ate there for the first time tonight. I am vegan and my husband is an Omni. Chef Bill came out and waited on us personally, and gave us menu recommendations, all of which were delicious! The ambiance was so relaxing and peaceful; it was a nice respite from a busy day and I didn’t want to leave. Reasonably priced as well: shared appetizer, two teas, two entrees, and two desserts was $60. Will definitely be back for many more dinners!“

The recipes are unique to this restaurant. We have eaten at other Ethiopian restaurants. They do not even register next to this one. The Proprietor is SOOOOO nice. And, ask him what brought him to the United States. It's an emotionally moving story. If you haven't had Ethiopian cuisine before, it is NOT scary. There are hardy vegetarian and meatatarian dishes. So, there's something for everyone. And, the dishes that are spicy are mild. So, don't worry about your sensitive belly. The meal is a SHARED experience. So, make sure you bring friends. “BEST SEAFOOD BOIL IN THE CITY

and I mean it. I’ve tried more than my fair share of seafood boils in the Chicagoland area. I must say, there is always something that makes or breaks the meal. Whether it’s the vibe. The freshness and quality of the seafood. Or the biggest factor for me, the price.

Oh my Crab definitely blew all of my expectations out of the water. The seafood boil was fresh and flavorful. The hush puppies came with a very intriguing sauce, one that makes you want to come back the next day for more. Each of the servers were very nice, treat my friend and I with kindness.

Overall I would rate this a 10/10 seafood boils spot ! Definitely worth it if you’re looking to satisfy your boil cravings without breaking the bank!!“

Nice atmosphere, but the restaurant is small and crowded... but they have outside seating as well. They seem to be very popular. We got the Tahini Ranch Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Kefta Burger, and the Stuffed Falafel; not a dud in the bunch. The toppings and condiments that some on the burger and sandwich made basic diner food such a delight without feeling over the top. The real stand out was the stuffed falafel. I never thought of having a filling in a falafel, and the sweetness of the caramelized onions was such a delicious complexity to a classic Middle Eastern dish. “So I would overall give this a five stars because firstly walking in the attendance are very nice and this was my first time here and they gave us complementary donuts so I give the food a four out of five only because the burger was messy and like it was really good though. For the service that gets a solid five, our waiter was nice and he was like taking orders and doing his job quickly and was very thoughtful for the atmosphere. I would give it a five because you could bring your dog outside. You can eat inside. You can eat really anywhere you want you don’t also have to come in with a reservation. And for the cleanliness of the floors, I’d give that a 4.6 just because I saw a little fry on the floor and the bathrooms get a 4.7 because the sink area is a little messy overall I’d give this a 9.3 out of 10. I recommend coming back here again.“

“Had lunch there today and I have to say this is the first time I was disappointed with the service. The food was excellent but that's it. Asked for 2nd drink and never got it. Water was never refilled until we were through eating. When first ordering our wine we had problems. I will continue to eat here and hopefully this is a one time occurrence.“
