“LOVE this place. It’s a throwback to how restaurants used to be before everyone became allergic to everything. Classic, no frills, basic food and friendly fast service. We come here with our young kids and it never disappoints. Don’t come if you want culinary extravagance. It’s a diner! Kids items come with a free scoop of ice cream and they have a bowl of candy at the cashier desk.“

“Over 20 years ago I started eating at their original Lincoln Park location. Today, their delicious food keeps me coming back time after time. It helps that the restaurant is staffed by the nicest people in the world. When I call for pickup they know my order (lad nar with chicken and Japanese gyoza) and they have it ready in ten minutes. Ten minutes!“

“Amazing all around!!! The food was delicious and service was great. The pita was incredible and the hummus was truly authentic. We had the schnitzel which was super crunchy and the sauce on the side was very flavorful. The patio in the back is so nice and spacious and the word burning oven inside really sets the vibe. The drinks were also unique and delicious. You have to go!!“

The recipes are unique to this restaurant. We have eaten at other Ethiopian restaurants. They do not even register next to this one. The Proprietor is SOOOOO nice. And, ask him what brought him to the United States. It's an emotionally moving story. If you haven't had Ethiopian cuisine before, it is NOT scary. There are hardy vegetarian and meatatarian dishes. So, there's something for everyone. And, the dishes that are spicy are mild. So, don't worry about your sensitive belly. The meal is a SHARED experience. So, make sure you bring friends. We got the Tahini Ranch Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Kefta Burger, and the Stuffed Falafel; not a dud in the bunch. The toppings and condiments that some on the burger and sandwich made basic diner food such a delight without feeling over the top. The real stand out was the stuffed falafel. I never thought of having a filling in a falafel, and the sweetness of the caramelized onions was such a delicious complexity to a classic Middle Eastern dish. On great weather days, the outdoor seating is a great option. On cold miserable days, the bar area has a huge fireplace to keep you comfortable. The wait staff has always been top notch, attentive and friendly. Yes, you can bring your well behaved dog out on the patio and they even have a few menu options to satisfy their appetites. Parking can be a bit tight in the strip mall, so don't be discouraged if you need to park a little bit away from the restaurant. I will be back again in the very near future.“
