“My daughter and I happened to be in Lake Forest on this beautiful morning, and she was craving some coffee. We did a quick Yelp search and Hometown Coffee was the top rated place.

My daughter ordered an iced Latte, and I ordered a Cafe Au Lait. My coffee was delicious and she said her Iced Latte might be the best she's ever had!!

“So happy we found this gem of a coffee shop / restaurant while visiting the area! The white mocha I enjoyed was amazing and our breakfasts were fantastic. After talking with the owner, we learned the building is over 100 years old and it was a filling station. They have transformed the building into a very quaint location that is very welcoming! This coffee shop was so welcoming, with friendly, speedy service, and delicious food and coffee. I ordered tofu breakfast tacos and a decaf iced latte — and both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for working, sitting and chatting, or in our case, spending quality time with family. I recommend a visit!“

The regulars are split between morning and evening hours, with a few floaters. We welcome folks to the community, catch up on happenings, and bring a little joy each day. Mandy, the chef, compiles an amazing array of food items, from cinnamon rolls and coffee cakes, to casseroles and egg sandwiches during the morning, and a variety of sandwiches in the afternoons. The spot has outdoor seating on the sidewalk, as well as a dedicated secluded covered alley space with ample seating and ambience. Summertime events include covered alleyway cookouts and inclusion of other local businesses for special bites. Evenings can feature a quiet bar, karaoke, or live music. “Ordered up a peach smoothie and wow! It was really delicious and filling. Perfect for in-between meals while shopping in the really nice Hawthorn Mall! The server gave me the extra smoothie in a tiny cup, which I could give away to let someone else taste test the smoothie!“

“A hidden gem, hole in the wall, donut shop… Nostalgic, because this place definitely used to be a Dunkin’, and maintains the 90’s Dunkin’ vibe like a time capsule. However, their donuts are better. In my experience, they’ve never been stale. Always delicately fried and perfectly sweet. Mexican foodies can also find pan dulce.“

“The first thing you notice is the farm house decor. The menu is American fare with a hint of some southern dishes. The staff is great considering it can get busy after 8:30 am. There’s plenty of parking and weather permitting. They have outside seating.“

“The Knollwood Starbucks is by far my favorite in the area. They have plenty of seating inside, including tables at a comfortable height for working on with a laptop and plugs. It’s not too busy, but is also a social place where you can run into friends and neighbors. The staff are the best part though! They are so friendly and helpful and know a lot of their regular customers personally. It always makes my day to walk in and be greeted by name. We were greeted when we came in, and the food was delicious. I only put three stars for service because the lady that attended us was slow. Physically slow. So slow that my daughter who is 11 was saying watching her was like she was in slow motion. Like, her movements were very slow, so that you kinda understand what I'm mean. I'm not sure if she is maybe developmentally delayed, and if she is,she was amazing. Or maybe she didn't have coffee yet. Not sure. It's like it took her a moment to register what was being said. At any rate, other than that, (and that wasn't that bad, really) definitely 5 stars for the rest.“

“Today I went to Starbucks where, my daughter, Rachel worked so I could hand out dry floral pendants (flowers from her funeral to her Starbucks family! I know that Starbucks has had it’s fair share of scrutiny lately, but they have been nothing short of amazing through this. They have set a memorial table up in Rachel’s honor. They also called in grief counselors and pulled in shift support from other stores so that people who knew Rachel could take time to grieve individually as well attend her service.“

So I stopped at this Starbucks and requested the medicine tea and explained what it happened and they actually gave it to me for free wasn’t there store that made a mistake. My wedding was scheduled for August 8,2020. But due to Covid-19, we unfortunately had to cancel. Janice was extremely compassionate, understanding and flexible during the whole process. Sweet Home Gelato was the most compassionate and flexible vendor. It is not easy to cancel a wedding, unfortunately many vendors were not as accommodating. Janice immediately offered a refund, date change or gift card for the deposit. Sweet Home Gelato was under no circumstance required to issue a refund. Please do consider supporting this small business that is run by good people!“

“This past March marked the very 1st time trying this Kung Fu Tea and just like other locations I've been to, same consistently delicious bubble tea.

Pretty sure Lake Forest never had any bubble tea parlors or if there's any Asian/oriental restaurants that serve bubble tea but I'm guessing this place is the town's 1st parlor.

Bubble tea/boba is the in-thing now and is rapidly growing all across the country. Anytime a new boba shop opens in the area, I can't wait to try it.

Friendly service at still reasonable prices in a new spiffy clean venue in beautiful downtime LF and I hope this place gets oodles of business and stays open for decades to come.“
