“Not normally a big Starbucks fan, but just had one of the best experiences at a Starbucks ever. I got an Iced Pumpkin Chai and a Spinach, Feta and Egg white wrap. The delicious food was the least wonderful part of my experience. The baristas were all exceptionally kind and generous, bringing us iced water without asking and being very welcoming to us. I stayed there for a bit to work and wait for a different appointment, and it was the exact environment I needed to start my day off well!“

“As soon as you finish reading this, you need to get the “Funky Hippie.” I have been a long time customer, and my beverage of choice is the “Dirty Hippie.” It combines cold brew, matcha, hemp milk, and lavender syrup. However, I came in on July 30th, 2026, only to notice that their summer menu was in full swing. On the menu there was a “Funky Monkey” available. Enticing for sure, but how could I forfeit the opportunity to once again indulge in the “Dirty Hippie.” I mulled my options, verbalizing this dilemma with my bestest friend and the barista on staff. She noted that the banana syrup, exclusive to the “Funky Monkey,” could be added to the “Dirty Hippie.” I knew what had to be done. It was in that moment the “Funky Hippie” was born. My only regret is that I drank all of mine. Perhaps what we want most is what we had and lost. Go to Tala. Experience the “Funky Hippie.” You might ask why I would be willing to share this secret recipe with you all. It is my mission to spread that which is good in this world. All I ask in return is for you to propagate this message. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and genuinely inclusive; it’s the kind of coffee shop where everyone feels comfortable. The barista was incredibly friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the coffee, and a great conversationalist. Between the warm environment, excellent service, and great coffee, it’s an easy place to relax, catch up with friends, or spend some time on your own. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to.“

“I just went there to have a meeting with a coworker and absolutely loved the service and the atmosphere. The empanada was still frozen when they served it to me but the server was so kind and gentle and immediately gave me another one that was well cooked and didn’t charge me for the wait and inconvenience. I call that consideration and good business practice! Will be back again!!“

“First of all, Simon’s a great host who also loves to make software. We’re here all the time, and our team loves coming to Open Mic to work, be creative, and meet with clients. It’s a comfortable, welcoming space that naturally sparks good conversations and cool ideas—some of our best ideas have come out of brainstorming sessions in this spot. Sometimes we’re heads-down getting work done, sometimes sketching things out, sometimes picking up a guitar or playing a little piano between sprints. My son didn’t like the icing on his cinnamon roll that was priced @ $3.75, so I asked to exchange it for blueberry muffins priced @ $3.25 & told them to keep the $0.50 difference or keep .50 cents. Even though exchanges aren’t their policy, the staff kindly obliged & gave us blueberry muffins. Great service & thoughtful team!“

“Delicious boba tea! I had the Coconut milk tea with boba and my husband had the mango fruit with boba. This was our first time here! It was busy when we walked in with lines for those wanting to get there bubble / boba tea. There was a great menu of options to choose from and a nice sitting area to relax, and enjoy the drinks. Staff were quick and busy filling in the orders that were coming in. This is located in Chinatown near the Chinatown square. Great spot and delicious boba teas! We will definitely come back when we visit this area again!“

“My 4 year old son loved it here!!! He was so proud to have designed a donut (which was actually just the cookies and cream option from the menu) but he watched them make it and decorate it and then showed it to everyone he passed. He said they were the BEST donuts he’s ever had! I had the cold brew with sweet cream which was solid.“

I stopped in for a simple black coffee once and it was great. It is very modern on the inside and the coffee is expensive for what I got, but good staff and short wait time. The study area has a good view of the road so you can take a short break from your work and enjoy the atmosphere.“

“Had my daughter’s baby shower cake made here. Julie was so easy to work with and gave me great advice. I had several guests who needed gluten free and Julie and her staff were able to make the whole cake gluten free. It was so delicious that my guests thought it was the best they’ve had. “I've been here three times in the past year and have been wowed each time. The employees are always nice and accommodating. The food is perfect each time, the bathrooms and restaurant itself are very clean, and the space is welcoming! That's saying a lot from someone who worked in a lot of restaurants over the years and can easily spot issues. Bagels are chewy, thaw nicely after being in my freezer for a bit, and make excellent sandwiches. Thank you for the Windex and cleaning up my water bottle catastrophe ;)“

“Something new in the Mall food court! Staff is so friendly and talkative, love them! They have truly great selection of unordinary pizzas. You have to try ordering from the menu! Ready slices are good, but freshly made mouthwatering pizza is so much better. I tried pear pizza, was very impressive, chef's creation, but my best favorite is vegetarian pizza. “What a positive experience I had at the Lake Bluff Starbucks. I went for a 30 minute coffee to check my emails, and was so pleasantly surprised when the barista asked if I wanted a ceramic mug for my coffee. She even offered to bring it to my table. When she brought it, she mentioned they offer a free refill. Then, another barista came around with a free sample of one of their ice coffees. What a very pleasant experience. Thank you, Starbucks!“

“Been to Tous les Jours a few times, but finally gave in and tried the macarons for my birthday :) Yeah, they’re a little pricey, but WORTH IT. Had the lemon, pistachio, and salted caramel, and each one was better than the last. They’ve always got really unique breads and pastries, and everything tastes super fresh every time I go in. You can tell they actually care about quality here. Definitely recommend checking this place out!“
