The bibimbap was a group hit and paired nicely with the various rolls as our table was all sharing. “We were in the area and happened to stop by here completely by chance. The place is okay. Unlike other spots where you already have “pre-assembled” ingredients for a poke bowl and just choose which one you want (so-called signature bowls), here you have to build it yourself. The poke was fine. The ingredients are fresh, and since I picked what I like, of course I enjoyed it. The place feels cozy and interesting, with lots of plants inside. My only complaint is that the low white tables are very close together, so you literally can’t move. They need to be spaced out a bit.“

“My girlfriend and I recently visited. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was really good, it reminded me of visiting my family in japan, who I have been missing a lot recently. I did find the 20% service charge a bit surprising. I did not see any signage for it or any notice on the menu. I was unsure if it was meant to take place of a tip. I also found it a bit odd that the wait staff would speak to me in Japanese, however, around my girlfriend (who was also using japanese and ordering from the japanese menu), they would speak in English only.“

Everything cooked nicely on the grill, and the mushrooms, pineapple, and shrimp were great additions to balance the meal. “The widest selection of Sushi grade seafood Ive seen on a menu in a Long time- all very fresh and very generously portioned! Octopus and salmon Sashimi were the dessert orders from our kids 😂 We will definetly be returning, and highly recommend. “I am not local, this is a regular go-to place for a friend, so when I visit with her, she wants to bring me. I had a Chinese Eggplant with chicken dish, flavorful and spicy. Also had some nigiri sushi, all very good. The Black Tobiko was plentiful and fresh. The Tamago and Inari, which are types of sushi that are deceptively simple seeming but really show a chef's knowledge and artistry, were excellent. I'm sure I will go again.“

“If you like chocolate then this is definitely a place worth visiting. There is an interwebs video thingy about how they make the chocolate which inspired us to visit. The chocolate is more european in style, and also not too sweet. I loved it and also exploring the japanese market nearby. A fun afternoon!“

Immaculate tempura and generally have your order ready quick and fresh.

I got the Edomar Tempura plate and loved it.
I especially love how when you get the plate they include the grated daikon in your tentsuyu! The only place in the US I've seen even include it.

Absolutely try it out if you haven't yet. I highly recommend any combo that includes a shishito pepper with it!“

The Makunouchi (Unagi) is easily among the most outstanding I've ever eaten, maybe even the best. Such a delightful presentation and true to the traditional bento & Ekiben forms, where you discover hidden items as you eat & each side dish feels fresher & more delicious than the last. Feels like a very generously-portioned (in case you're doubting the price tag) home cooked meal prepared and packed by someone with a rare amount of intention & care for not just how the food will taste, but how well it will travel. You can feel the that the chef wants your meal to be a joyful experience filled with little surprises. Truly a new favorite meal of mine in the city that I plan to order again and again.“

“Went to Yakitori Toritetsu inside Mitsuwa Marketplace, The setup honestly caught my attention right away. It looks like one of those little street grill spots you’d see in Japan. Small counter, grill going, smell of meat in the air… yeah, that smell pulls you in fast. No line when I got there. Staff was friendly but very straight to the point. Order, grill, done. Food came out quick.

It’s basically meat on a stick. The grill gives the meat this nice char on the outside, slightly smoky, and the inside stays juicy. The chicken I had was really tender, soft bite, not dry at all. Each piece had that salty grilled flavor that hits right away, then the smoky taste follows after. Hard to explain but it’s really satisfying.

I did think it could use just a little more seasoning or maybe a stronger glaze… but honestly the simple salt worked. It lets the chicken flavor come through more.

Simple food. Skewers, grill, done right. Sometimes that’s all you need.“
