“Kitschy and cool place. It's a bit of an institution in the area, and the decor is great - over the top tiki theme. Lots of tiki drinks available along with more or less standard chinese-american food. If you're in the area, it's well worth a visit.“

“I had take-out from Peking Chinese Food last night. It was very good. Ordered Egg-Foo Yung, General Tso's Chicken, Fried Chicken Wings. They have the best General Tso's Chicken around. “My son graduated college and we wanted to get takeout on a very cold night, dinner in a restaurant to follow. We had not gone to China Star for a very long time, but have been told the new owners have turned it around and they were right. We tried hot & sour soup, fried rice, egg rolls, shrimp with lobster sauce, sweet & sour chicken, and egg foo young. We realized immediately that we ordered way too much, but it was so good, so it was fine. Their food was excellent and the portions were big, so plan accordingly. “Whenever I try a new old style chinese restaurant, I get shrimp with lobster sauce and bbq pork something, like bbq pork fried rice or vegetables, etc.

Shrimp with lobster sauce is a very nostalgic food for me. It was something I tried 15~ish years ago from this small chinese restaurant near work. It was $5.45 lunch specials at the time, and I wanted to try something other than monglian beef, generals Tsao chicken etc.
And i fell in love ever since.

I love brown starch sauce that is made with, and it needs to have black beans and stripes of pork and egg. But some restaurants tend to make this with white sauce with pea and ground pork, or just not enough salt or msg.

Well, this place make it perfectly how I wanted, and less than 9 bucks. You can't beat this deal.
The only thing to critize is that chicken fried rice was not good...it was dry and maybe a day old.

Bbq pork was also really good, cut thick the way I also like it. You can taste rice oyster sauce, and vegetables were cooked well.

It definitely reminded me of the old spot that I loved and will be coming back to try more dishes.“

“We ordered the dinner special last night. This includes an entree, fried rice and an egg roll. I got the shrimp kow, and my husband got mushroom egg foo young. The shrimp kow contained a generous amount of large shrimp and an assortment of veggies in a white sauce, which was highly seasoned. Bok choy, mushrooms,broccoli, peapods, water chestnuts,celery and adorably thinly sliced carrots. I loved it! My husband must have enjoyed the egg foo young...it's all gone! The dinner came in a black takeout container that was divided into two sections.Very nice. The shrimp egg rolls were huge and rolled very fancy! All the food was piping hot and ready for pick up in 15 minutes! The service when ordering and picking up was very courteous and accommodating. Prices were very reasonable!

“This is my favorite Chinese food in the area due to the portion sizes and flavor. I usually order orange chicken, general taos chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. All very good. It is located in a strip mall so easy access in and out. They will deliver to GE and Lombard for sure. Not sure of other areas but worth asking. The delivery driver is always very nice. The location has 2-3 small tables so it is mostly for takeout. Last time I called in and it was ready for pickup in 20 minutes. Highly recommend.“

“I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years. Since, I’ve moved across the country but make it a point to stop by and get my favorite crab rangoons every time I’m in town. It’s filled with meat and not just all cream cheese like most other places. Classic general tsao and orange chicken are faves too. Hands down though, BEST crab rangoons ever!“

Many Asian places in the immediate area skimp on any protein and give you mainly onions, bell peppers and carrots depending on the dish. Been going here for a few years and never had a bad experience except their Hot & Sour soup. It wasnt spicy nor sour. Customer service is very good and the owners are very welcoming.
