“Walleye Quality Issues: breading: tastes fishy & rancid, fishbones.

My friend insisted we go to Culver's to get the walleye; which is seasonal. I love the mild flavor of Walleye; have caught & eaten it often.

She and her husband got the dinner. I got the sandwich. My first bite was awful; had a rancid/fishy taste. I split the fillet in two and took a bite of just the fish (no breading); the fish itself was good. As I was removing all of the breading from the fillet and bun, my friend said her fish tasted terrible. I suggested she remove the breading from all of the fillets; hers & her husband's.
As we were eating the naked fillets, we noticed her husband's plate had fishbones and started searching for and removing bones from his plate (hoping he hadn't ingested any) Neither her, nor my, fillets had bones in them.

We usually enjoy our Culver's visits but this time, it appears:
#1. Someone didn't clean the frying oil before reusing it.
#2. Someone didn't store the oil properly after it was used.
Recommend:
Staff: training on frying oil use and storage.
Supervisors: confirm proper follow-through.
Customers: vigilantly search for fishbones.“

“Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

They let us spread out in the top seating area so our kids and families could sit and eat comfortably while we warmed up from the freezing rain and cold. “I have been eating here for years and food and service is usually very good. I am never sure of their new hours since Covid. However, I was told by the front-line lady that because it was 15 minutes before closing I had to place my order to go. There were people there, still eating. Were they going to be asked to leave at closing? In the past I was never denied dine-in service.“

“First time going here and could not have been happier. To start, our server Ashley was simply amazing. Very attentive and answered every question we had, and made some amazing recommendations. The bread appetizer is a must! Had the wedge salad and it was amazing as well. My wife got the pork chop and I had the flank steak. Both dishes were incredible. The ambiance is perfect for a date night. Will definitely be back!“

“Came in on a superbowl Sunday and it was quiet ish, the bartender, Ryan was great though, engaging, great service, dealt with my indecisiveness quickly. I had a great time just chilling on a quiet night. Came back Tuesday and it was lively, plenty of friendly locals. Ryan remembered my name and what I was drinking. “I stopped in here after visiting with a friend. I’m so glad I stopped in. To drink, I got the Royal Lemonade—well balanced. For food, I got the mozzarella sticks and ginger burger (I was super hungry, but had to take home some of my burger). To be honest, the burger is not something I would normally order, but it was recommended and I’m glad I went for it. I would definitely eat it again. The atmosphere here is nice. It’s clean and comfortable. The regulars here are nice and the staff is friendly. You never know when you walk into a bar “that’s not yours” how you’ll be treated. “Food was great. My only issue is a very slight mix up. I ordered avocado toast to go on my toast with my omelet. Instead a secondary whole plate came out. It was simple miscommunication, and I did not complain. I simply ate it and paid.

The manager also checked to be sure things were satisfactory. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. I will definitely return.
