“Food and service were excellent. The main room is very noisy. We asked for a quiet table so they sat us on the porch which is much quieter. However, there was a dirty ceiling contraption directly overhead blowing cold air on us. Felt like AC. Not necessary since it was 6 degrees outside. Very uncomfortable.“

“We had an incredible experience at Grill 23 & Bar — easily the best steakhouse we’ve been to in Boston. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was phenomenal. We ordered both the filet mignon and the ribeye, and each steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and truly outstanding. The sides were just as memorable — the macaroni and cheese was rich and comforting, the Brussels sprouts were perfectly prepared, and the mashed potatoes were smooth and delicious. Adding the Béarnaise sauce on the side was absolutely worth it and paired beautifully with the steaks. Dessert was the perfect ending: warm chocolate chip cookies served with vanilla ice cream — simple, classic, and done flawlessly. A huge highlight of the evening was our waiter, Bernardo. We will absolutely be requesting him on future visits. He offered thoughtful suggestions, anticipated our needs effortlessly, and somehow managed to be there exactly when we needed him — and never when we didn’t, if that makes sense. “Our first time at Baleia, and we’d absolutely recommend it and return. The savory cheese tarts, Portuguese sweet bread, and Whole Roasted Fish were the stand outs for us. In general, everything was cooked to perfection. The Mozambique Shrimp were the definition of succulent. My husband is not a huge fan of saffron, so the sauce wasn’t to his taste, but I found it delicious. The octopus carpaccio was bright, acidic, and so tender. A glass of Vinho Verde made for a well-rounded dinner.

The restaurant is beautiful, but it can become rather loud due to all the hard surfaces. We arrived at 6, but when we left at 8, the volume had increased significantly. Just a note for any of those that may need or prefer a quieter space.“

Food: We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the standouts were the fried mozzarella and the pastas. The fried mozzarella was perfectly crispy on the outside and gooey throughout. Then the rigatoni bolognese and the spicy lobster pasta were the ideal choices for the two of us. We especially loved the chew and texture of the fresh pasta.

Service: This was the definition of seamless. The staff always had a purpose when they came by and it felt like we were being looked after. No moments of awkwardly wanting to ask for the dessert menu or the check.

Atmosphere: We couldn’t stop looking at all the amazing decor. Our window seats especially had great soft lighting. All the fixtures and elegant colors matched the high quality of the food.“
