“Food and service were excellent. The main room is very noisy. We asked for a quiet table so they sat us on the porch which is much quieter. However, there was a dirty ceiling contraption directly overhead blowing cold air on us. Felt like AC. Not necessary since it was 6 degrees outside. Very uncomfortable.“

“Food was great! Service was not. Took about 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks. I ordered the soup to start and had to wait 10 minutes for a spoon after it was delivered. We had a couple online gift cards to use and even though there is an QR code listed, there is no way for the restaurant to scan them...so the waitress had to write down the number and run it manually. She had the manager come over to tell us one of the gift cards didn't work and we needed to call some number to sort it out. I suggested we double check the gift card number first and was told in a condescending tone “we can but we have this issue a lot”.....she had written the number wrong so it was their fault. It was just a really disappointing experience at an upscale restaurant that we have visited a lot in the past. They also took the bohemian cocktail off their menu and that was the best!“

Views of Boston and Cambridge added to the ambience and great DJ playing good music. The caviar biscuit is a nice bump of caviar on a savory biscuit. We tried the meatballs, garlic bread (omg?), the pepperoni with pearl onions, roasted squash pizza and tiramisu — from start to finish everything was absolutely incredible. “Our first time at Baleia, and we’d absolutely recommend it and return. The savory cheese tarts, Portuguese sweet bread, and Whole Roasted Fish were the stand outs for us. In general, everything was cooked to perfection. The Mozambique Shrimp were the definition of succulent. My husband is not a huge fan of saffron, so the sauce wasn’t to his taste, but I found it delicious. The octopus carpaccio was bright, acidic, and so tender. A glass of Vinho Verde made for a well-rounded dinner.

The restaurant is beautiful, but it can become rather loud due to all the hard surfaces. We arrived at 6, but when we left at 8, the volume had increased significantly. Just a note for any of those that may need or prefer a quieter space.“
