Tiki Hut Boats 10 Blaney St, Salem Tiki Bar • $$

“We booked a ride on the new second Tiki Boat - and we were a little nervous at first, thinking we might miss out on the full experience since it was their second, newer boat without the cute little doggies on board. But those worries were quickly squashed — we had an amazing time! The crew was fantastic — super friendly, fun, I learned a lot about sailing from the captain- and they made sure we were having a great time. The atmosphere was perfect, and honestly, it ended up being our favorite experience in Salem! Everyone we met was so nice, and we had an absolute blast. Highly recommend! The 7pm launch was spectacular as well, the sunsets and views were so beautiful! If you can’t book on the original tiki boat- because it does fill up fast - do not hesitate booking on their second vessel. It was truly amazing!”

Sea Level Oyster Bar 94 Wharf St, Salem Seafood • $$

“This place was absolutely phenomenal! First of all, the view is spectacular. We came on a beautiful day in fall and the temperature was amazing outside. I had my first ever clam chowder and lobster roll here and they were both so amazing. I got the warm lobster roll and it was so filling. I am from Louisiana so I am no stranger to oysters but the east coast oysters here were so delicious and different from southern oysters. I ordered half a dozen and ended up ordering a half dozen more. I could have honestly ordered more if I wasn’t so full. The service here was also amazing. Our waitress was kind and attentive and offered us the best recommendations as it was our first day and restaurant we ate at in Salem. If you are in the Salem area, this place is an absolute must!!”

“My girls and I attempted to eat at the Salem retreat on our first morning of our trip. We waited 20 minutes for a table after watching 7-10 people be seat AFTER we were given a buzzer to wait. We left and came to Dotty & Rays. We got a table as soon as we walked in, had water brought over immediately, drink and food orders promptly taken. The food was fantastic. We had one part of our order missing and once they realized the issue, it was remedied with speed and courtesy. Everyone was very friendly and renewed our experience in Salem. We enjoyed it some much we came back this morning. This is the place to come to a good meal and pleasant experience to start your day. Come to Dotty and Rays!”

“I cannot say enough good things about Antique Table. The food is amazing, and service is fabulous. Great atmosphere both indoors and outdoors, and tons of food & beverage options. There are so many dining choices in Salem, and we return here time after time. Classic Italian with some interesting additions mixed in, like the Chicken Miguel. The eggplant rollatini is the best I’ve ever had. Large portions and reasonable pricing. Generous pours on cocktails. Even in October, when the city is incredibly busy, the food and service remain top notch.”

Trade House 156 Derby St, Salem Pubs • $$

“In a town of witch kitsch, Trade House is a breath of fresh air. The decor doesn't scream as much maritime and mercantile history as I hoped but the atmosphere and the menu certainly make up for it. Highly recommend the Jumbo Crab Cake as a starter. This is a golden seared, griddled crab cake bursting with sweet, succulent crab meat and fresh vegetables. Served with a zesty New Orleans remoulade that packs a Southern kick and a petite salad for a crisp, refreshing balance. And their chef's *really shine with their specials. That's where I recommend the Surf and Turf Dog. And this isn’t your average frank. It’s a jumbo all beef masterpiece stacked with crispy, golden fried Essex clams, drizzled in house made tartar and a splash of tangy cocktail sauce, all nestled in a warm, buttery brioche bun. Served with kettle chips and crunchy pickles for the perfect crunch. It’s land and sea, comfort and adventure all in one unforgettable bite. There is literally nothing in Salem like this. And lastly, their drinks....oh my gods, their drinks. I had the "Trade Secret". Bold, smooth whiskey takes the lead in this mysterious and refined cocktail, delivering rich warmth with every sip. It’s expertly layered with the bittersweet depth of amaro, brightened by fresh orange, cherry, and a twist of lime. The result? A bold yet balanced drink with a touch of intrigue. It's strong, citrusy, and just sweet enough to keep you coming back for the next secret. Tourists and locals, check this new place out. Such a breath of fresh air and down the street from Derby Wharf.”

Tipsy Cowboy Country Dive 221 Washington St, Salem Southern • $$

“I went here to see what New Englanders think country is. Stayed for the awesome food, drinks (a bourbon blackberry thing that was fantastic) and service. Man as someone who used to live in Texas and enjoys country music…get a new playlist. The music is horrific, like seriously the only songs I even recognized were terrible covers.”

“Food was prompt, delicious, and most importantly not hard on the bank! The wait staff are friendly and it’s my partner’s and I’s favorite food place in Shelby! I get the wings or Alfredo and he gets their meat calzone or Stuffed shells! (I recommend trying both✨)”

Antique Table Restaurant 26 Congress St, Salem Italian • $$

“I cannot say enough good things about Antique Table. The food is amazing, and service is fabulous. Great atmosphere both indoors and outdoors, and tons of food & beverage options. There are so many dining choices in Salem, and we return here time after time. Classic Italian with some interesting additions mixed in, like the Chicken Miguel. The eggplant rollatini is the best I’ve ever had. Large portions and reasonable pricing. Generous pours on cocktails. Even in October, when the city is incredibly busy, the food and service remain top notch.”

Witchside Tavern 283 Derby St, Salem Portuguese • $$

“Came during a ladies trip in August. On our first day, we stopped by for lunch and drinks. The food was fresh and tasty. The drinks were cold and were made perfectly by the bartender. (espresso martinis were 💯) The next morning we tried their breakfast and it also did not disappoint. We sat outside both days, but the inside is beautiful and has murals on the walls. Staff were attentive and polite, I Highly recommend!”
